  1. Good ol' Iowa boy.
  2. I reiterate. Win the first three games and the series is ours.
  3. I knew who you were referring to when I saw the title. How's life going....
  4. The Red Sox don't have Jim Parque.
  5. I know my dad said that if he ever wins the lottery, he's donating part of it to the library.
  6. Refer to the catchall thread in SLaP and you'll know why. It's not like I don't care about the Sox, I just don't tomorrow.
  7. So you guys know if I'm a little b**** (moreso than usual) this is why. I'll be back to my Gage-bashing self soon enough, but today and tomorrow will be roughest.
  8. Heh, it's all I can do. I'm not big on emotions, but that suicide thread brought it to a head. Then I have it on shuffle on my iTunes, and the first song was a song I had about a guy shooting his friend in the head, and next was the MASH theme song with the words. I thought I could lose it at that point.
  9. Do you think age was a large factor in that?
  10. i won't be able to watch tomorrow, nor do i care, particularly
  11. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) I’m sorry for your pain. When someone who’s just starting out in life turns away from it, it can be baffling. And a lot of anger is left intermingled with the grief for the survivors. It can feel overwhelming at first. Especially with the young or with those away at college without their usual supports, a suicide can spur others who are feeling vulnerable to contemplate similar behavior. I hope you’ll be vigilant with anyone you know who might fit that description. I'm doing the best I can. This just seemed to be the last resort for the guy. It was the 6th anniversary of a stroke that he had when he almost died. He'd gotten back to normal as much as could be imagined, except for a noticeable limp and some motor problems, but he seemed to be the same mentally. He apparently got into a fight with his dad and his old girlfriend, and then one day just put a gun behind his ear and pulled the trigger. I can't imagine how his mom felt when she found him in his room. Our entire grade is a support system because death seems to surround us. One of my friends and the kid's better friends growing up showed up as I left the funeral home, and said "It f***ing sucks in there, doesn't it?" I couldn't tell him any different. My buddy looked the same but at the same time he didn't, because the kid I knew was full of life, and I, along with others couldn't comtemplate him doing this. When I got there, I just stood in front of the casket, and talked to him without talking. I feel better for it now, but when someone like that dies it always eats at you. We talked to his mom and we could tell she seemed empty. Hell, the kid was a Bears fan to boot, as his obit mention his passion for "DA BEARS". I hate the Bears, but I expect them to win Sunday, just because. I'm going to the funeral tomorrow, and I'll probably feel the worst then. I never told him goodbye before going to college, cause you don't expect this. I've had three funerals before, so it's not like I'm good at handling this. I tend to remain stoic cause I want others to be comforted while I'm around, so it seems like something is right. This sort of thing tears you up, but I plan on being proactive about it, as my family and I plan to contribute to the memorial fund. I also plan on having another "talk" in the future, cause I think that's what'll help the most. I know people feign that they will committ suicide, but now I know I'll take it more seriously. Not that I didn't before, but this will eat at me for a while. Thanks for your thoughts. I just hope he went peacefully. He was an organ and tissue donor. That's the guy I know, who will go out of his way to help others, and I guess he did in the end. Rest in peace buddy, rest in peace.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Hard to not make a smart ass remark about the state of Oklahoma's football team. However, I still don't understand what in the hell must be going on in a persons mind to actually kill themselves. We're trying to figure that out.
  13. The wake was tough. Seeing someone your age there........it's tough.
  14. Does this mean lots o splitters? I would tend to think so.
  15. If things get bad enough that a game comes down to a Gload vs. Blum decision, I tend to think we're f***ed anyways.
  16. Let's just have Brandon's arm fall off now.
  17. .214 BAA with a 2.73 ERA over the last 3 years. 2.45 ERA on the road this year. His teammates have forgiven him.
  18. Well, the Cell is Flaxx's temple, sorta.
  19. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Marte has no business being on this roster. Not only did he quit on his teamates but he sucks. Ozzie is obsessed with him? Why? McCarthy worked his ass off and has pitched well. He deserves to be on the roster. Ozzie is so obsessed with matchups. Who cares about matchups. I care about getting guys out. The Angels had one lefty in 02 and their bullpen was lights out. I suppose you'd rather have Matt Guerrier back? When Damaso gets key outs in the series you're gonna need to eat crow. BMac would not have pitched until the if needed games anyways.

Wow...looking it up Ortiz is plain old mediocre with two strikes. There's syour key, Count. That and his .125 avg at the Cell.
  21. Heads22 replied to letsgoarow's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Spectacular. Now there's no way he can be wrong. If the Sox win, he told everyone so. If Boston wins, well, he was with them all the way.
  22. winning the first three games
