  1. If you've ever driven out to Colorado on I-80, Nebraska just kinda feels like death. It just doesn't end either.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) I frequent the box with the tips and stuff. Most colleges send me a lot of cool info about how to write an awesome entrance essay or "Top 5 tips to choosing the right school for you" and other stuff like that. Definitely keep-worthy IMO. Top 5 stuff like "Choose a beautiful campus! Oh, by the way, did you know that the Iowa State campus was rated one of the most beautiful in America? I'm glad I'm done with that s***.
  3. I've heard a lot of Illinois people gripe about Iowa and that, but I tend to think Nebraska is actually worse. I'm not really basing it on anything, besides this old newspaper article. I'm just this bored.

Another weird thing is that you're an honors student, and the classes aren't honors unless you take at least 48 credits of these designated credits a year. There's no special honors sections or anything.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) BTW, Heads, yes, once I start filling out applocations, sending essays, asking for visits and info, no doubt in my mind my desk will be piled up with letters. It happens before that. Like I said, I only applied to ISU but I got mail from everywhere. California Culinary Institiute, Hamline College, Yale, Tulane, Iowa....It's all over the map QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) I have organized them. I have 1 shoe box with my academic records (report cards, test scores, etc.), and 3 shoe boxes full of letters. So far I have received letters from Akron, SCSU, GVSU, Rutgers, Loyola, UIC, Illinois, UChicago, Minnesota, and a few other schools. 1 shoe box has letters about college tips (the important 1's go on my bulletin board on my wall), 1 has letters about applications and school info. The 3rd box has miscellaneous stuff from all colleges. The coolest thing was when GVSU sent me a $80 book about their school including ALL information about ALL majors, courses, etc. Really cool. Right now, that is my #1 choice. You may not believe us, but it's kinda cool when it first starts but it gets annoying as hell. Keep stuff from maybe your top five uni's and throw the others out.

Do a lot of schools have honors points or weighted GPA's? Our's didn't.
  7. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) b**** please. All my classes start at noon or later. I only have 50 minutes of school on Wednesday's and Friday's. We've been over this. My schedule is insanely easy. We're gonna have to duke it out on October 15. f*** my parent's 28th anniversary. It's on.
  8. Oh, and Liotta with the win, 1 ER in 5 IP. Sabo with 1 ER in 3 IP and Lopez with a scoreless ninth.
  9. Warthogs win 8-2. Guess who went deep again? Recap...
  10. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) Geebus Heads that looks like a freaking high school semester. 7 classes?! Since I have a semester's worth of AP credit I'm taking a light load and only taking 12 hours my first semester. Stats 1200 (which will be dropped for something when classes open up again) Psychology 1000 American Government (Poli Sci) 1100 English 1000 It's only 13.5 credit hours. I've got a semester done already through AP classes and college credit classes here. They recommend 12-15 for the incoming freshman. Of course, Fridays my first class is 1 PM. Done at 3
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) I have 3 shoeboxes full of letters from colleges....and I wear a size 13 shoe. Be prepared for more. Boy, colleges sure love those form letters. What else could possibly be an explanation when I get a letter asking me about my interest in the basketball and tennis programs at Iowa Conference schools? QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Ya, I remember you telling me about that so I went with it and it made a lot of sense. Worked great. We know I love procrastinating, but even than I got straight A's this past semester...WOOT. Thats right, barely got a 3.0 in high school too...those were the days I was a true slacker. It was like the same night wasn't it? I think I was writing my paper on the fall of the USSR.
  12. Jason and I offer this, and trust me it does help.... If you find yourself procrastinating and you know you have a big paper coming up, just tell us and we'll suspend you for however long from the site to keep you from blowing time on here. We'll make sure to allow ya back, but it comes in handy if you can't pull yourself away.
  13. Enough bickering, kids. Don't make Greasy get out his shiny brand new whoopin' stick.
  14. A lot of people said the same stuff about Everett. Some teams are better fits than others, you don't know what would happen. Jurassic wasn't exactly a "good guy" anywhere else but seems to be a bit of a leader here.
  15. I'm not gonna get into the semantics of it, but there's a definite difference between the Gateway Conference and the Pioneer League. Dear God, I'm arguing I-AA football....
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Hell I'm a Hawkeye fan but they get tuneups like Drake, etc. Big 10 teams also have some cupcakes on their schedule. I'm with you fotop, the SOS bit isn't the reason ND isn't joining a major conference like the big 10. The #1-20 reasons are finances and ND makes way too much money by being independent and has no reason to join a conference (even though as a fan I think it would be quite interesting to have them in a conference). Of course if they were in the big 10, my allegiances would be hurting with Iowa and ND battling each other (my two college teams). They ain't going as far down as Drake. Ball State and a Northern Iowa team whose QB is a poker buddy of mine.
  17. There's a 4 year ag science cirriculum no one takes. There is a community college satelitte center on campus, though, so there's about 10 college credit courses we can take. LOL Don't bash though, I made the dean's list.
  18. Um, my HS offered two AP classes.

  22. I'm not a real big proponent of closers getting the CY unless they've been otherworldly.
