Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) I think teams have genuinely gotten to the point that they will focus less on saves. I do think that Jones got a bit unlucky last year - I think him having 9 BS is a symptom of that, and that if you put him in a pen with Putnam and Petricka he might well have a simply dominant first half. He's a guy I am in no hurry to move unless you pay through the teeth. Yup. And not saying that Nate needs saves to add value to the Sox or in my eyes, but it's easier for an organization, publicly, to pay more for a closer than a setup man who admittedly doesn't have the longest or most injury free track record.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 09:39 PM) I'm really looking forward to the Jones deadline bonanza. Sox are going to get a haul. As many as 20 teams will want him and that contract. While I love him to death and wish he could stay forever, selling him this year is important due to the volatile nature of relievers. I'd bet on him staying healthy and productive, but why even take that bet? Cash in, move on, Burdisville. Would be helpful to move Robo in the offseason then, allow Nate to add value as a closer.

Sox eyeing FA sluggers
Well, this is a great year to figure out if any of them can help. Either way, I maintain Tyler Saladino is a guy that good teams have. Not necessarily starting, but he's a guy that can be on the 25 man of a WS team.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
I still maintain Jones is worth a lot more to us than he is to someone else right now. Maybe if we move Robo and he starts getting saves, but I'd be surprised f someone would be willing to send top flight guys over for Nate. And I love Nate.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) He's not gonna get you elite prospects like Moncado or Giolito, most likely, but the dude is signed at 5 years for 15 mil. That's insane value after seeing Chapman's 80-something over 5 years. Plus his arsenal is nasty and had a 175 ERA+/2.29 ERA/0.89 WHIP/10.2K per 9/1.9 BB per 9 in 2016. You're gonna get some very nice pieces for him after Jansen signs or at midseason. Relievers are valued more heavily now than ever. I think his value now vs. if he has a successful season as our closer is way different.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
Don't get me wrong, I love Nate and I think he's awesome......but I don't think he has the trade value that we want to think he does.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Real @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) slightly off topic but found a pretty awesome android app (via a subreddit) that lets you stream a certain sports channel that we are all probably watching right now useful for when you're at work and can't watch TV PM me if you want the info MLB.com is streaming MLBN for free the last few nights, so if that's what you're talking about, it's legal and free

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
I'd be surprised if Nate Jones has the value that we think he does. I think he's one of those guys that's way more valuable to us than other teams and will be our closer this year.

Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning
QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:17 PM) seems like the total opposite personality wise from kopech haha He certainly seems old for his age. A better term would probably be "dork"

Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez and Dane Dunning
Dear lord, if baseball doesn't work out, he has a nice career ahead of him as a PBS host explaining things in the calmest possible tone.

Giolito will talk to anyone, but it seems in a good way so far.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
The only issue with b****ing about the lack of bats we have acquired so far is that this organization, to this point, has shown no proclivity in terms of being able to develop any of it outside of Tim Anderson (so far). Would we rather trust this organization to work with young talent that it at least has shown to be capable of developing, or to take a shot that it can develop a bat? I wouldn't have been one to mind getting another hitter, and I expect we will, but it's not like we are getting a Turner or someone of that ilk. We already got the top prospect bat out there, but that was also our best trade piece. The market for Eaton is different than the one for Sale anyways. There's a spot for Sale on any team. There isn't for Adam.

LOL @ the guys on MLBN saying that this means guys like Frazier, Robertson and Avisail will be sold off

Bob Nightengale@BNightengale 5:25 PM Several scouts and executives say they actually thought the #WhiteSox did better in the Adam Eaton trade than the Chris Sale trade.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) We got a few good prospects but this deal falls far short of what a good GM could get for Sale. They better be sure Moncada is a future all-star or this is one of the worst trades in franchise history. The takes, they are hot.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:00 PM) Thank God. There's no reason not to extend to the 7th year of guaranteed control. Hell, even if he was "ready" (like Byrant) you hold him out the extra two months that's just how you play it from the club's long term perspective. If holding him out for two months, even if ready, keeps us from the playoffs this year, then apparently Rick is some sort of wizard.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
I'll say Kopech's delivery looks a lot less high stress than that guy we just traded, but I'll defer to ptatc on that

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
LOL @ people seeing that we asked for Benintendi and Betts last year and are pissed we got this now. I mean, Boston didn't offer them last year, so it's not like we somehow screwed up by not getting them last year.
