Assessing the White Sox Future and Hawk's Announcing Future
I do think Jason is much more natural doing baseball than any other sport.

Spring Training: Sox vs Rox
There's a place on a good White Sox team for Tyler Saladino. I don't know that he will ever be a solid positional starter anywhere, but there's no reason he can't play 8 more years as a utility guy.

God, it's good to watch baseball again. Excited to see Burdi today and hopefully a couple of the youngster position players.

Spring Training Broadcast Schedule
Anyone seen anything yet in terms of what local affiliates around the midwest will pick up WGN games this year?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 05:21 PM) When we were contending / attempting to contend a year ago, i thought he had no business on the roster. Given our current construction and the fact that I at least think he has tools (doesn't mean that he will maximize those tools), I am in the camp that I'd rather give him at bats vs. someone like Bourjos. Odds are the switch never flips but Garcia works his tail off and has a lot of natural tools. It is too bad he is so god awful defensively as that is really what makes him so hard to salvage (and I don't see those metrics changing...which means for him to be very productive, he'll have to crush it). Maybe they can teach him first base.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 18, 2017 -> 09:40 PM) Are they really? You guys have a couple bad losses but that's a fine season for Iowa St so far. Is it just Hoiberg hangover? I think so. I mean we only had to replace the guy that won the award for college power forward of the year....fans act like this is the first year we've ever lost road games. Actually we have a better road record in conference than most years. I think our fans think we suck on offense. KenPom Offensive Efficiency: 2012: 24 2013: 8 2014: 10 2015: 12 2016: 7 2017: 30 Guess which four years we had one of the best forwards in college basketball?

I thought the talk was that Thad might hang em up due to his back(?) --- Also, Iowa State's in second place in the Big 12, but yet we have fans thinking that a coaching change would be good for some reason.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 14, 2017 -> 09:41 PM) Does he make it a full year in office? Serious question. I guess it'll come down to how many republicans would rather work with a President Pence.

2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) Hoiberg is an awful coach. I have zero doubt about that. Lack of development, consistent boneheaded plays, horrific execution out of time outs. List goes on and on. One of the worst NBA coaches I've ever seen. I could be all wrong and we could just have terrible players, but I think it goes beyond that. I wonder if Fred makes it past the all star break? So much money to eat on that contract though. Also, for those of you who haven't noticed, Tony Snell has been a solid starter for the Bucks (far better and more consistent then he ever was for the Bulls). HIS PER is nothing to write home about, but from an overall efficiency perspective he's shooting a nice three ball and playing good defense. The funny thing is (not for you guys, I guess) is at Iowa State he was lauded for having the best offensive efficiency in the nation out of time outs. Like literally, best out of 351. Wish I could find the article.

LOL @ "they're open to subtractions" Its just funny seeing that phrased like that. "We have the team we have, but if anyone wants one of them, go ahead."

Uh, did anyone else watch WV/Kansas last night? Dear god, what an awesome finish. Not much I've ever seen that will compare to OU/KU from last year, but that was a fun one to watch.

Fun fact, both the Knicks and Bulls are coached by former Iowa State Cyclones.

Going back a couple pages, I've seen Jarrett Allen once in person, saw him play ISU Tuesday night and a few other times on TV, and yes, he's raw as s***. You can tell he has talent but if you want a guy that creates at all in the low post, I've never seen that out of him when I have watched.

Haha, those analyst positions (what Sark was) are complete bulls***. No contact with players and just there to evaluate opponents my ass.
