2016-2017 NCAA football thread
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 11:14 PM) Top tier wins and # of losses (not even necessarily to who) are what always matter 100x more than anything, whether it's the eye test, conference championships, head to head, etc. Ohio State arguably has the best wins in the country. Zero chance they get left out. It just feels like the goalposts move around every year. Probably goes back to the Big 12 snub of TCU dropping three spots because they didn't have the thirteenth datapoint/championship and that being so important, until apparently it's not. The committee needs to get it's messaging right. I do believe Ohio State is one of the best four teams in the nation, but the reasoning the committee gives every year is different.

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) Alabama, Clemson, Washington, PSU isn't far fetched It'll be Ohio State ahead of Penn State, but now the message will be the conference titles and head to head don't matter as much as the eye test.

Brett Lawrie Settles
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 06:16 PM) This is worse than re-signing Avi. Does Rick Hahn actually think Lawrie's a good player? There's really not much to b**** about here unless you're looking for something to b**** about here.

I almost want the B1G to get three playoff teams to try and spur playoff expansion to 6 or 8.

NCAA basketball thread 2016-17
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 10:50 PM) Not trying to defend Indiana or Crean here, but if college Top 20 teams went and played small small small schools on the road more often, they'd get beat more often than they'd win IMO (I do realize this game had more Indiana fans at it than Ft. Wayne). No major college in their right mind would go play at a Missouri State or Wichita State or Northern Iowa. They'd leave with an L more often than not because of the sellout and crazed fans. Just my take. I do miss ISU going to UNI and Drake though I understand why they don't. A buy game against the Citadel is worth more money than that road game against either UNI/Drake that probably means a loss 1 or 2 every four years. Tomorrow should be a decent game against Miami, though this team misses the helllllll out of Niang.

Iowa State and Missouri announce season opening home and homes in 2017 and 2018. CoMo in 2017, Hilton in 2018. Hopefully they can do this more consistently. Would love to get them and Nebraska back on the schedule more often. Played Colorado/A&M last year. Scrimmaged Nebraska this year I'd be down for, scheduling one of Nebraska/Missouri every year. Iowa State will be the first Big 12 team to go into Columbia since the conference split. ---- One of the reasons I'd love to see the Border War and A&M/Texas resume is could you think how much hate those series will bring? (In a pure sports rivalry sort of way)

The Democratic Bench
Who is the next woman or man up for the party? The leadership of the party is either too old or Obama. I wonder if there's a possibility he gets back into politics after a while. Probably not. I imagine the names you'll hear the most are Booker and possibly O'Malley.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) They just went 8 years without much improvement and your answer is a person who echos the last 8 years. Can't really fault them for wanting to try something different/unproven/unknown (ha). You do realize the guy that was in charge the last 8 years would win this election easily?
