AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) I know it's false hope but the one reason I haven't thrown in the towel is because outside of maybe a healthy Detroit, none of these teams in the race scare me at all. Same. I simply miss White Sox baseball being interesting.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
As much as I don't think we are playoff capable, and knowing that we need an infusion of talent, I'd still love for us to make a push. Seen enough losing since 08.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) I'm still not disappointed in the Melky or Robertson moves. To be honest, I haven't been too disappointed with Melky at all this year, despite the numbers. For most of the year, he's continued to have profession at bats, which is something we sorely lack. Robertson, despite some extremely untimely big hits given up, has been pretty much all that one could ask for. Not quite sure why some are wanting to give up on him already. The LaRoche move is the one I didn't like. Agreed with all of this.

The Final 66 Games - A Breakdown
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) can they send him down to the minors as a minor assignment. but first need to be dfa??? i don't know the rules on that. There is zero possibility he gets sent to the minors. We're also not releasing him. The only way his salary would get cleared at all would be to trade him or if he retires. And no one is trading for him.

I also truly believe if we don't get offered what we feel is market value for Jeff, we will roll on with him.

The Teams in Front of us in the Wild Card
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) That's almost statistically impossible. I'd have to delve into the other teams schedules but I can safely say that won't happen. Even if they do sweep Boston, not happening. We win 4 and Minnesota drops 2 of 3 to Pittsburgh would have them at 53-48 and us at 50-50. 2.5 back, 2 back in the loss column. Toronto is currently 2.5 back of Minnesota, 2 back if they hold on against Seattle. We'd still be close.

My How Things Have Changed in 4 Days
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) Sweeping a shifty Cleveland doesn't change things. That's my opinion at least. We now face an even s***tier Boston team that could put us within a couple games of a playoff spot.

If a month of playing 2B only, let's say, 6 times instead of 30 is what stunts his defensive development, then its never going to happen.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) Well, we only have one more series left lol Ha, I meant that as I don't think we'll sell until the deadline now.

The Teams in Front of us in the Wild Card
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:47 PM) If they sweep Boston, I'm in. If they sweep Boston, with a middling Twins team playing the Pirates, we'd likely be within a game or two of the wild card.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:42 PM) I don't disagree on the big league coaching part, but "losing a whole month of reps" at 2b would seem like a major loss. No matter how much you do it in practice, if you're not doing it in games, you're not practicing. Things like keeping focus, making decisions, footwork under pressure, all those split-second decisions you make, a month without that seems like a real loss. I don't think the greatest coach in the world can make up for game action. I don't disagree. A lot of it depends on how in contention that we think that we are. As you allude to, Carlos isn't coming off the field anytime soon. But it's something to rattle around in the brain. At least until we acquire Raburn.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) There's got to be a veteran at-bat available somewhere/somehow before July 31st...or, worst-case scenario, a targeted hitter passes through waivers. RABURN

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) I agree. It would be another "all-in move". If you keep Samardzija, it might be worth that gamble. It'd at least get him more time with big league coaches (whether or not you think thats a good thing is a different story) as well as occasional starts. Regardless, he will be up in a month either way.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) With Micah's biggest problem being "defense" it does seem like having him "play DH for 2 months" could lead to a real developmental setback for him. I'm not saying I'd do it, but it's an interesting concept in theory.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
We will likely be five out of the Wild Card after today. Upcoming series for those in front of us: LA vs Hou Min vs Pit Tor vs Phil Balt vs Atl Det vs TB Tex vs NYY I think we'll probably give it one more series before selling, because with Minnesota playing a really good Pirates team, us being within 3-4 by the deadline isn't THAT difficult to believe. I still don't think we're a contender, but, its at least mildly interesting.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) I love our pitching. Also please keep hitting Sanchez, would love to not have to worry about 2B in the future. As has been said, he's doing what he always has done. Not hit at first, then hit well. And he plays great defense. Don't know how he ranks in terms of the numbers defensively, but my eyes tell me he's one of the better ones out there.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) The alternative is you get what little salary relief you can or just bite the bullet . At least then you have an open roster spot and a chance to upgrade the lineup. He's been bad against lefties for years . If the Sox are serious about contending they don't have space for a 1st baseman who can't provide anything except an occasional HR and defense at a position that is not of importance. Would be nice if we could at least reconstruct the lineup to push him down. CF Eaton 3B Saladino LF Cabrera DH Abreu RF Garcia SS Ramirez 1B LaRoche 2B Sanchez C Flowers Either way I don't want LaRoche hitting higher than 6th right now.
