  1. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) I'm really hoping this is an offyear for him too. If only he would have been Mashing Abreu the first half...his bat could have carried the team out of that funk fast. We needed 2014 Abreu, 2014 Morneau, 2014 Robertson, a good bullpen, and better injury luck. Then we'd have the best record in baseball.

Yea, Narcos is legit. I do wonder if season 2 will see the light of day - considering the Escobar family is demanding a billion dollars and all.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) He didn't say it was a bust. Just the truth that it's one of the biggest contracts they've given out. Yup. I'm not calling Abreu a bust by any means. In fact, personally I believe he'll have a great second half and an even better next year. However, he IS the largest free agent we've ever signed. I know they were in on Cespedes, Gordon, Tanaka, Arod... But we never push the chips in to land the big fish. Either that's going to change eventually or we're always going to be muddled in the middle.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) Your optimism is usually refreshing but I can't help but laugh at this post I'll believe it if... 1.) Abreu hits like 2014 Abreu for the rest of the year 2.) Avi hits over .285 / .330 / .500 for the rest of the year 3.) Fraizer hits over .260 / .330 / .500 for the rest of the year So... Yea... I won't believe it.
  5. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 11:10 PM) Not trying to be pettie, just sensing an opportunity to buy low on a player. Check out this article about "Cutch" who is hitting a robust .241 this season, MCutcheon hitting .241 gets benched Yea - still -- ain't happenin
  6. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) *IF* Pittsburgh claimed Melky off waivers, what would it take to get McCutcheon, who they may be open to trading given the pretty severe fall off he has had this season? Or maybe that indicates he was on the juice last season? He was a .300 hitter last year and he was just benched for 3 games by Hurdle. They are in need of hitting and Melky, I think, could help them. If McCutcheon got back to his old form, he'd look great in our outfield. They're never ever ever EVER trading Cutch for Melky.
  7. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Actually with Tilson out and Austin Jackson apparently not coming back soon I would just start Avi in CF every game from here on out. Keep Eaton in RF where he excels and see how Avi does in center. I've heard some people claim that center field is actually easier to play for a lot of outfielders that struggle in the corners as long as they have the speed to cover the ground from gap to gap. Avi certainly struggles in RF and one thing he does have is speed. What could it hurt? At this point what's the difference if he's a butcher in RF or in CF? It sure would be fun to watch him play center - I could play clown themed circus music as a soundtrack to all his plays.
  8. QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) This is exactly the type of moves they have been making and then failing. Boosting people like Saladino into a full time role is entirely stupid. He is a great defensive backup. They need to go get a C, 1B/3B/DH and an OF. 3 good guys, not 3 scrubs, or bounce back candidates, 37+ year old veterans, backups who look like they could be good. If they can't do that, they need to tear it down and start over. They already have too many question marks as it is with everyone else in that lineup. No one has been truly consistent outside of Eaton the past few years. I have this creeping suspicion that things are not quite what they seem...
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) Sorry, been out of town visiting colleges with my daughter. Its never good having to do surgery for soft tissue injuries. One doctor I worked with described it as tying two pieces of spaghetti together. It doesn't bode well for a player who relies on speed for his game. He'll be ready for spring training but it's anyone's guess as to how well he'll be able to run and stay healthy again. Thanks mate and hope your travels went well.
  10. It's pretty silly that Jose Abreu @ 68mm, John Danks @ 65mm, and Adam Dunn @ 56mm are the largest White Sox contracts ever. That should tell you everything you need to know about us signing "big" free agents in the future.
  11. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) No, that will convince the front office that Q should not be traded. Sale will not be traded based on the comments from last week. Comments from last week?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) Ive started crying at weird father/son movies like the rookie too Yea - I totally get that. Around birth to 18 months old the water works flew off randomly for a lot of stuff. Then toddler tantrums and divorce court sucked me dry of that stuff. Yay.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 10:52 AM) Wtf is wrong with Hawk? He's like not paying attention or something. He sounds almost as sick as me. Must be the clap.

Started watching Limitless the series today on Netflix. It's good. Extends the story from the movie and even includes the past main actor in a supporting role. Well done.
  19. Looking for good shows to watch on TV. Also interested in seekers on Showtime / HBO... As well as Netflix series / movies. Lately I saw a Jim Carey movie based on a true story that was well done on Netflix. Dark comedy vein. Called, "I love you Philip Morris." Best thing on TV right now? Ray Donavan. That shows getting more and more bad ass this year. Your turn.
  20. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) This is the cursed Chicago team. not the other one. Let's wait and see what happens in game 6 of the NLCS
  21. You've got one shot at calling one deal in the offseason. Go!! Quintana to the Yankees for Fraizer, Torres, Sanchez, Severino, and Rutherford. Why? Because it'd be comically awesome.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) Lead off double followed by Anderson not advancing runner and then Eaton doubled off on line drive to Kinsler It wasn't good base running but it wasn't aweful. The line drive Kinsler caught wasn't just some routine easy to read goof.
  23. Adam obviously didn't see that ball whatsoever. Could have easily been caught if he had.
