  1. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 02:29 AM) Sox shouldn't be expected to land Fielder. We'd drain the farm (not that I would really care) but we'd also trade current Major Leaguers for a guy that Borass will not let re-sign here and also a guy who like Danks and Quentin will be asking for big raises in arb after the season. I'd love Fielder, but he's not realistic IMO. People need to hop on the Adam LaRoche bandwagon if we can't get Dunn (and the Sox would be braindead to meet the Nats price) because no one else out there is going to be worth the price IMO. We could conceivably add LaRoche, another reliever, and an AL #3/#4 type starter if we need one without losing Viciedo or Hudson, who are the only two high-level MiLBers who even matter. PS Mark Teahen is a dog who should be beaten with a shovel. If we could get those peices without giving up Viciedo or Hudson - sign me the f*** up!
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) Word is that he's on the block. He's making $3.8 million this year and up for arbitration next year before he hits free agency in 2012. Amongst stats people, Nolasco is the perfect example of why ERA is evil, because the guy had nothing but bad luck last year, came up with a 5 ERA, but had a 3.35 FIP. He really sucked early on in the year, but he's started to pitch very well lately. His K rate has been climbing back to respectable rates and he rarely walks anyone. He does give up a lot of home runs, but is a fairly neutral pitcher. I don't know what the Marlins could command, but he's not going to get any cheaper and we all know how the Marlins roll when it comes to salary. ZiPS projects a 3.74 FIP and a 4.31 ERA the rest of the way. With his high ERA, I don't expect him to come at an extremely expensive price. A Miami Herold reporter Chat Spencer said:
  3. 1 chance at the world series for a decade of a star infielder... No thanks. If Lee signed a 5 year extention and they include mark lowe... Hummmm - then I'd say rock on
  4. I think that KW will not just get a left handed bat for the sake of getting a left handed bat. If Dunn or Fielder doesn't fly - look for him to explore right handers. Speaking of which - what RH bats could be had?
  5. The White Sox made a run at Cliff Lee, but never got close to landing him. Although a left-handed bat remains their biggest need, there aren't many on the market who appeal to them besides Dunn, whose price tag is "exorbitant." They might settle for acquiring a right-handed hitter, and could also pursue another starter if Daniel Hudson struggles.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Yeah, maybe sometimes I do. And I know it has been irking some of you guys lately, and I apologize for that. But I am the moderator, right? Part of what I'm trying to do is not only enforce the rules around here, but to get the most out of you guys so that this is not only the best White Sox forum on the internet, but one of the best baseball forums on the internet. chw42 is an awesome poster, and if he is going to take the time to chime in, I'd like him to explain his opinions. Additionally, I feel like if you're going to shoot down someone else's opinion or suggestion, you should at least take the time to explain your reasoning. Just my opinion. Sorry if that came off a bit harshly. To me it comes off like this..... If I want to make a one word response - may it be - YES! or NO! - it is my right and restricting me from doing so ( or suggesting I do differently to make this a better baseball forum - is something i take as unnecessary restriction of my freedom buy a overzealous authority figure. It's just the principle for me - that's all - and keep in mind - i have a huge thing about authority. =) Cheers
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) This sort of response really pisses me off. And I don't mean anything personal here, but I want to make an example of this early on before it catches on. Don't flatter yourself enough to think we all care whether you personally sign off on such a move or not - none of us should flatter ourselves this much - if you're going to chime in on something like this, at least take the time to explain your reasoning. Otherwise, we're just clammoring up threads with worthless posts. Again, nothing personal CHW, just want to make a point of this and you were unfortunate enough to be the first one to do it... Don't personally sign off on someone voicing their opinion about something Mr. Moderator God. Nothing personal iamshack, but you come off as someone who enjoys being a moderator a LOT. The poster was just saying his preference - his opinion. Maybe you didn't like that he didn't explain his/her self - so what. There is no rule to prohibits short posts. Rant over =)
  8. Yuck - he's set to start being able to throw again by spring training. Sad panda times ten.
  9. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:04 AM) We don't need to make this move. Frankly, we really shouldn't. This hurts us long-term and is a bit of overkill in the short. Just get a lefty bat and a lefty arm for the pen. Yep - I think we're good as long as we get a bat. In the pitching department - if Mark, Danks, Floyd, and Garcia keep pitching like they have - looooook out! Hudson should be an amazing #5! By the way - the only way I see us signing Lee ( assuming we trade for him ) would be with a world series win. That might make him wanna come back for a back to back effort =)
  10. Larry Stone of the Seattle Times says the following...
  11. Larry Stone of the Seattle Times? hears rumblings that the White Sox, who just lost Jake Peavy to the DL, are at least 'kicking tires' on Lee. That would not be a surprise given Kenny Williams' track record.
  12. Larry Stone of the Seattle Times? hears rumblings that the White Sox, who just lost Jake Peavy to the DL, are at least 'kicking tires' on Lee. That would not be a surprise given Kenny Williams' track record.
  13. Can we start up a trade winds sub forum yet? =)
  14. Any time I even think about Peavy, it makes me want to cry.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) That is a great graphic you made...but are you drunk? I'm just being sarcastic. I've only been drunk once in 4 years. =) Thanks for the complement btw.
  16. Let's hope for the best. Hudson comes on to go 10-0 to bring the sox into the playoffs and then goes 4-0 in the playoffs as we go on to win the World Series! He's Superman! He can do ANYTHING!!!
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:40 AM) 5.9 in Borrego Springs - shaking like a MF in hollywood odd - i'm about 30 miles north west of hollywood - didn't feel a thing =)
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:12 AM) rain in Chicago, earthquake in LA. earthquake in LA? odd - i didn't feel it. Any idea of how long the rain delay will be?
