Waiver Wire Thread
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Agreed. I'd bet my buttox there's no way KW would make a waiver trade to get ride of Peavy.

Don Cooper and Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) I don't think the Sox overpaid for Jackson. I'm in the Hudosn is being overrated side of things. If you told me a year ago that the Sox could have Peavy and Jackson for, basically, Richard and Hudson, I would have said you're nuts. Peavy's injury notwithstanding I think they were both excellent trades for the Sox. It sure would be nice if Peavy comes back in 2011 with no ill effects from his injury. If Jackson can realize his potential as well - then, wow... We'd have four bonifided aces: peavy, danks, Floyd, and Jackson. Mark as a number 5 - rediculious!!

Don Cooper and Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) I know that everyone hates the Edwin Jackson deal because of the money, but I'm fascinated by this dude. Not to cherry-pick numbers, but he had an ERA+ of more than 150 heading into September last year (through 26 starts). I can't wait until he makes his Sox debut. Can you give me a run down of the ERA+ statistic

Don Cooper and Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) In 217 minor league innings, Hudson had just 56 BB to 256 K. Yeah, he is a control pitcher, regardless of what he did in his first couple starts w/ us this year. He'll be a damn good pitcher for Arizona for many years at a bargin. Also - Rizzo is a bleeping moron for refusing to trade dunn for him. M-O-R-O-N

Don Cooper and Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) As much as I really disliked the Jackson trade, and am still not a fan of it, I can't help but salivate at the idea of Coop turning this kid around control wise. Hudson had the control, but he only had decent stuff. Jackson has bad control, but amazing stuff. If Coop can get this guy to throw strikes, he will have a really awesome pitcher on our hands. I guess I saw Hudson as the safe pick, and Jackson as the high risk (contract), but very high reward type guy. Hudson had control? In the three starts I saw with us this year I saw zero control. I did notice though that in his start today with Arizona thar he only had one walk. I really liked Hudsons stuff and his make up - he is a gamer. If Jackson becomes the ace he is capable of being - I will forget Hudsons name

Yea, no new information but that's fine by me. What I've really enjoied is just having a different more personal insight. It's been a great series for me to enjoy

White Sox Acquire Edwin Jackson
It'll be very interesting to see what the front office says about jackson in the next episode of the club. I don't know if anyone here is as happy as me to have Edwin. I'll also be happy to eat crow if he doesn't pan out... But I've got a great great feeling about him fir this year and 2011

DON'T DEAL DAYAN
QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) Ok, I'm as excited as anyone about Dayan. However, please people. Calm down on the over reaction. In my opinion, he is a better offensive Juan Uribe with less defense. If the Brewers called the Sox today and said we'll trade you Fielder for Dayan and two other of our top prospects, you do the deal in a heartbeat. This is all just your opinion... People who are "over reacting" are also just voicing their opinion. Your insinuating that your assesment is fact by telling people to calm down - by saying their over reacting. The point is... You don't know just as well as we don't. All we can see at this point is someone who shows a lot of raw talent and great promise. It's possible he could be no better than Juan uribe. It's also possible he becomes a 40 home run / 100 RBI hitter

Gamethread: White Sox (58-45) vs A's (52-51) 1:05PM WGN/WSCR
Man... Tank didn't even hit that square and it almost went out of here. Unbelieveable

Athletics (Braden 5-7, 3.77) @ White Sox (Danks 11-7, 3.23)
I hate losing - let's go for another 12 straight at home starting tomorrow. =) And when Tehan comes back - I really hope Kotsay gets DFA - Viciedo needs to be on this team so long as he continues to spank the ball.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) You can always get a deal done if you're willing to dramatically overpay. But that's no way to run a ballclub. Trading Viciedo to get a rental bat would have been stupid. So we didn't do it. Get over it people. Cheers.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) It is more difficult to make a trade you want via the waiver deadline period than simply making the trade before the deadline on the 31st. Alex Rios says hello.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez
Gotta believe that KW and co. did everything they could to make things materialize but couldn't make it happen due to other GMs unreasonable demands and also players being unwilling to be traded here. We're gonna see what we're made of here - hopefully Vicedio is in at DH for the rest of the way and we see Kotsay break his toe nail.
