White Sox @ Rockies, 7:40pm, WCIU
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) i have no idea what ANY professional player would be thinking in that moment To me it seemed that Lilli wanted to incite a play at the plate in order to get the out at home and be the hero. It made me let out many four letter words as the play transpired. Epic fail - the antithesis of his New York heroics. Sad Panda

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Juan Pierre hasn't stolen a base since June 1. That's 18 games. Has he been on-base since June 1st?

Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) I disagree, as you want him to build up his arm this season cause you'll have to rely on him to be a starter next year while Jackson will be pitching elsewhere. Yep. Jackson has disappointed me as I thought he'd find more consistent success under Coopers wings. Hopefully he can have a dominant second half - he's capable - that's for sure. Heck, so is Peavy. This team could be very very exciting for the rest of the year if people start playing up to their potential. We all know that but in moments / weeks of frustration - I think we tend to forget just how talented this group is. If we don't go into the playoffs, 2011 will be on par with 2006 in terms of disappointment for me.

Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) Moneywise it isn't the best thing, but if we want to win games, I think he is the best call. I want us to win at least 10 games in which Peavy starts during the second half.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) His velocity is definitely up from his last outing. June 22: 90.47 avg - 92.7 max 4 seamer 91.47 avg - 93.9 max 2 seamer today: 92.3 avg - 95 max 4 seamer 93.1 avg - 95.1 max 2 seamer His max cutter was up 2 MPH today. His average fastball velocity for the season was 90.8 coming into today. Thanks for the stellar stats His motion looked too be devoid of any attempt to ease up on the recoil... I just hope it doesn't lead to another injury. Also, I wonder if his return to that motion accounted for the increased movement?

I will say this - peavy's motion looked too be devoid of any attempt to ease up on the recoil... I just hope it doesn't lead to another injury. Also, I wonder if his return to that motion accounted for the increased movement?

I really think it's to the point where KW and Co. need to buck up and pull the rug out from Ozzie by just DFAing someone. Eat the money. Force Ozzie into playing the TANK as a starter.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) I said this in the gamethread, but since Peavy went 4 today, and held the velocity through all four innings, might his velocity be returning to him? I saw 92-94 with a couple 95 mph pitches today. Since returning from his surgery - hasn't he been regularly between 90 and 93? I don't remember seeing or hearing anything about his velocity being vacant.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 04:06 PM) Safe to say that Sergio has got his mojo workin'? Once he learns to keep his breaking stuff down and his change down he'll be nails. When he's been in trouble this year - it's mainly been in situations with 2 strikes. LOTS of 0 - 2 get me over stuff has been hit yard. He's growing still and I'm stoked to have him... he's a win for this organization on a number of fronts.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) If I am Dunn, I just don't swing at all in my at-bats. If he swings, he Ks. If he doesn't swing, at least he could walk. We all know he's been bad but give me a break... he hit a double yesterday and got robbed of a home run without swinging? Sure. Edit: Hey, at least he walked

Sox "trying to get a return on investment"
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Juan Pierre's June slashline: .200/.259/.240/.499. He's 1/2 SB/SBO. It is of my belief and unprofessional opinion that JP is not performing at an acceptable standard of what should be expected for even an average Major League baseball player. Despite these terrifying/embarrassing splits, he still leads the team in plate appearances for this month. That, to me, demonstrates that our manager, a man who's paid handsomely to, well, manage and put this group of 25 professional ball players in the best position to succeed, is either not seeing what is painfully obvious (and you would then naturally have to question his baseball intelligence) or that he's so, what's the word, obstinate (yes, that will suffice), that he'd rather go down his way than to adapt or adjust on the fly, in essence doing something that you don't really want to do but doing so because it would be beneficial for the team he gets paid to manage. We are now three months into the season and all the "it's early" talk no longer holds sufficient water. You simply cannot give a player of Juan Pierre's caliber another 300+ PAs because of staunch adherence. There's no legitimate logic behind this. Well, other than, let's see, "I'm DA focking manger and I make da facking lineups" or "You guys have to work real jobs. Wat do you know?" That's what's up.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) Yes the double was very good. I didn't see the home run live but the replay and that sucks that that guy robbed Dunn. Both where signs of things coming around. We've seen him hit well for a week and then revert back to hitting .170 for the following week. I just hope he goes on an absolute power tear - even if hitting at a .250 clip with a continued high walk rate... that'd be what we signed up for. Just give me a month of solid 1 for 3 and 1 for 4 performances so long as that 1 hit is regularly a double or home run... Then I'll be happy panda.

Enough with the hyperbole
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) Just don't be an obnoxious, annoying douche when stating your opinions. It REALLY is that simple. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) That's not really an insult Insinuating that someone is an obnoxious annoying douche is not really an insult? I'd be offended if that was directed towards me. I guess it could be looked at as if he wasn't insinuating those things and that it was just a general statement, but I didn't take it that way

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) He certainly can be better and in particular we need to see some more power out of him now. Absolutely agree. Heck man - for years I called Crede - Joe ' I always f*cking pop up ' Crede... we all know what nick name stuck with that man.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) Morel is terrible too and what's maddening is they don't have to play him because of his contract. They're going to lose this division in part because they stuck too long with Pierre and Morel. IF we lose this division the scarlet letter-men will be Becham, Rios, Dunn, Thornton ( as closer ), Santos ( growing pains ), and Pierre. Morel has not done THAT bad.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) If Dunn starts hitting we can make some noise. If he doesn't I think we're in trouble still. Paulie and Dunn coulda been a heck of a 1-2 punch. Just make it happen, Adam. Last night we saw some signs, right? That rope down first for a double and a ball that was about 2 inches away from being an unrobbed home run... That's an actual statistic - right, the unrobbed home run.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:50 AM) We could just WIN THIS THING and all join hands in a hearty round of Kumbaya My Lord. Guess we'll have to save the camp fire singing for the weekend. If this loss doesn't ignite some passion in our Sox - nothing will.... hopefully they come out swinging tomorrow and never look back for the rest of 2011. edit: Hey, Cleveland - Detroit - and Minny all lost... a Miracle - time to start singing - at least that's a bright spot today. Coming back 3 times was also nice - in a painful way.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:46 AM) Some random person that doesn't even know me calls me racist for suggesting Jackson as a PR. Sounds like you might wanna bring that to the attention to of a mod - stooping to that level might end up not boding well for you. I learned that recently. Or... we could just WIN THIS THING and all join hands in a hearty round of Kumbaya My Lord.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:44 AM) still have ohman as well To add onto what Fathom said - Ohman was used for the last batter in the 9th ( I think ) The innings are starting to become a blur now.
