2014 AL Central catch-all thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 11:07 PM) A's blew a lead in the worst way possible.....1-0 going into the 9th, ended up imploding, with six runs surrendered, including 5 by Doolittle A's and Royals tied, 1/2 game behind Tigers M's 2 games back of both OAK and KC battle of survival Without a doubt the last two weeks of this season will be fun to watch. The NL west is also shaping up to be potentially juicy but the AL has it in spades this year. Personally my hope is that Oakland turns it around somehow and KC buries the Tigers. It would be fantastic if Detriot just plan didn't make the playoffs. That my friends, is my pipe dream for a lost White Sox season.

2014 MLB catch-all thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 10:32 AM) A really interesting read about Khalil Greene http://www.robrains.com/CARDINALSBASEBALL/...lil-greene.aspx That, quite possibly was the absolute best baseball article ever written.

Addison Reed trade from DBacks' perspective
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 12:58 AM) Well if somebody can continue to say Davidson would have been great this season had he made the team out of spring training and his mental makeup caused his lousy minor league season, then I can say Addy Reed would have been even better in a White Sox uniform as closer this season after a pretty good year the year before. He'd have been even better than in Arizona cause of the comfort level as continuing Sox closer. Poop.

It's about that time of the year again...
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 17, 2014 -> 10:50 PM) With the Sox loss tonight, we gain a game on.... Rockies, Cubs, Twins, Rangers, Phillies Sox still have the 9th pick, are now 9.5 GB of the #1 pick, are 4 GB of the #5 pick, and are now 2.5 games ahead of the Padres for a protected pick. Sox are 3 GB of the #6 Red Sox, 2 GB of the #7 Astros, and 1 GB of the #8 Cubs. It certainly is odd to remember to root for the Red Sox, Astros, AND Cubs.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 12:47 AM) I'm f***ing serious man, I think it's a great idea. Look, I made a prototype. Absolutely awesome... The beta version shall have poop, thou.

Chris Sale does not have bones in his body, defies physics
It's just plain scary... On a few levels.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2014 -> 08:17 AM) Jeff Passan @JeffPassan 1h Tooth lodged in cheek. Hole in lip so big doc's index finger fit in it. And get this: Giancarlo Stanton still wants to return this season. Craig Minervini @CraigMinervini 7h #Giancarlo in good spirits, saying he was uplifted by his mates. Dental work on 3 teeth in Miami. Fractures will heal, no surgery expected Talk about character.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 01:16 PM) Well that's what I was getting at. They could find a way to get him working with Coop, without starting his clock. He's at the game which is a contradiction to the report that he's not with the team. It's just odd. Only logic I can think of is he's here for just this series or something.

Carlos Rodon prospect watch
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) "I'm disappointed that he didn't come up for the last month," Cooper told MLB.com... "Again I wish it could have started now, but for whatever reason, it didn't. We'll see him in Spring Training." This doesn't exactly thrill me. Why isn't Coop calling the shots here? Odd, considering I just saw Rodon sitting next to Semien at the game today.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) Totally out of the blue, but... Would the Astros take Connor Gillaspie and Tyler Flowers for Jason Castro? If you think Connor is more a platoon type, and Flowers isn't going to get any better, then anyone think those 2 could get us Castro coming off a bad year? Of course you'd only do it thinking that Castro would turn it around here & could be extended. If this deal had been proposed several months ago it would have been laughable, but I think both Connor & Tyler have raised their status significantly since the offseason while Castro's stock has really fallen. They'd be silly not to take that deal... And I'm on the fence as to if the Sox should do so if the offer was on the table.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 27m Since the All-Star break, the #WhiteSox are 8-2 in Hector Noesi's starts. He has a 3.93 ERA and averaged 6 2/3 innings. He's only going to get better to. The right handed Quintana, scrap heap wise.

And that a Tyler Flowers walkoff White Sox Winner!!!
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) Interesting that Hawk said if you want to win you have to spend money the other day. I still think those claiming us to have 30M to add to the payroll for next year are going to see that to be a big underestimate.

And that a Tyler Flowers walkoff White Sox Winner!!!
QUOTE (scs787 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) This is a winner thread not a whiner thread. Whining sounds a hell of a lot different than, "damn it." However, if you want to play the name game... I can go down that road. There's a lot of anger boiling in me at the moment, so... Let me remain calm, request you shut your almighty mouth, and just leave it at that.

September notes
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 7, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) Is there a way to see everyone's ignore tallies and run out a leader board chart? I bet that would create some fun discussion if everyone was a good sport about being ignored. Just go ahead and change my name to "RagingAssholef***WadDickHead" -- I win. Not.

Konerko's Farewell Tour
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 6, 2014 -> 01:09 AM) It said he's out at least a week. Why play again? You've dedicated your life to a career that will end in three weeks. You're injured and will never again be able to step onto the field... You take a week off and try to get back out there a few times. It's called having dignity.

Konerko's Farewell Tour
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) If he's got a fractured hand, there's really no reason to play any more. The Royals likely will be playing for keeps that series and it's stupid for Paulie to risk hurting it more. Sure if he's healthy it'd be nice to play all four games and see if he can hit a homer on his final at bat. But why risk it? I guess if he wants to risk it, it's his body. But with this being a terrible team going nowhere and no reason to play, I'd just retire now if I was Paulie. Dude, the resident doctor has spoken. His words hold more merit than your drivel.

It's about that time of the year again...
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 05:01 PM) Everyone's suddenly forgetting how we won a championship in 2005. That team didn't have any superstars or HOF players, other than Thomas on his last legs and sitting out. Pitching, pitching, pitching. And solid players at every position who played together as a team, and played the game the right way. And an amazing bullpen, a once in every 20-30 years performance out of all the pitchers. Creating this superstar-driven team with Sale, Abreu and Stanton just isn't the way to get there. I concur, Good Sir

Dunn traded to Athletics for Nolan Sanburn
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) Dunn is a class act and I wish him all the best but I am so so happy I will never have to watch him play for the White Sox again. This sums it up for me as well

Dunn traded to Athletics for Nolan Sanburn
QUOTE (Wickel @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 02:41 PM) I've been a rabid Sox fan for years, and I hate the term "rebuilding." When you're competing at this level, there is no such thing IMO. I respect Eminor's comment that this is a deep-thinking forum. That's a good think and I look forward to future discussions. What I don't appreciate are the drive-by zingers. There's always a slander assassin in every forum, as in Chitownsportsfan. But then again, his avatar says it all. And, hey, I never said we were strong contenders, but there was a glimmer of hope. With the additon of Abreu and the emergence of Gillespie and the toughness of Sale, who knows what could have happened. We were 14 back two days again, now we're back down to 12.5. When the Indians-Royals game goes final, it'll be 12. Hey, I'm a dreamer. So what. Miracles happen. I love the White Sox. We're all in this together. Let's go get 'em. If the stock market crashes, the country experiences hyper-inflation, my house goes under, and I can't buy food for my family... I'm calling you.
