  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) Makes the 8th kinda puzzling, doesn't it? This is a statement made purely out of emotion and has hardly any basis in education... but I hope that Bruney gets sent back down to AAA after tonight. That dude hit me in the gut tonight from flipping 1,500 miles away.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:42 AM) Jake...F--- YOU. Huh?
  3. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:40 AM) I'm pissed Lillibridge didn't let that ball hit him, the Sox could've won by Hit-by-pitch. >:-| I think everyone and their cousins where thinking that... even Halk said something like: "I'll be he wishes he could have a re-do on that pitch."
  4. Man, come on guys... I wanna go eat dinner
  5. SHOULDA TOOK ONE FOR THE TEAM THERE LILLI!
  6. This team never can come back twice to even tie it. Anyone who would even hope for that - is stupid. Don't bother suggesting anything different - this team is totally dead and has ZERO heart.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:26 AM) A 96 mph fastball is a pretty good pitch too. And his change has been good several times this year, including games where he didn't have his good slider. We've seen his change look Godly and clearly, we've seen his change look like the dog poop as well. Makes me want to cry.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:25 AM) Lefties hit .308 off Coffey and Dunn is up this inning. Here's hoping he can hit it 10 feet further than he did in the 7th.
  9. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 03:24 AM) I'm an Ozzie supporter. Avoiding Crain and Thornton completely in favor of Bruney and Santos in a non save situation (I *despise* the latter) is confounding. Me no understand.
  10. Just get 2 runs here and win the game... please... come on.
  11. Just when the bullpen starts to look like an asset - innings like the 8th, 9th, and 10th tonight happen again.
  12. Edwin hit 99 on the radar on that little duck snort. Sure would be nice to see him consistently pitch like this for the rest of the year.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) I would love it if they just continued this season with a different manager starting tonight. I sure wouldn't mind that either but we both know that isn't happening
  14. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) I thought you were leaving...? Not nice - can't we all just be cool and avoid stiring the pot? Doh, I guess by pointing this out... I'm stiring the pot. Damn!
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:37 PM) I firmly believe that that is the worst thing for the organization moving forward. We've been over this. Hopefully that won't happen Milk and if it does - then it'll make for more conversation at that time. Currently thou, it's all just speculation that we've been over again and again... so why not focus on present day? Here's to sweeping Washington and getting within 3.5 or 2.5 games. It starts today. ( Hopefully )
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) Upon further consideration, I blame the 11-22 start for this. We're Sox fans, it's unacceptable. We give a s***. Especially considering we very easily COULD have started off at a 9 - 1 clip.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) WTH? Who said Juan needs to be shot? I've never gone that far. Damnit. Now the mods/admins are more justified. Those where all fictional examples to illustrate a point. Nothing I said was directed at you Jordan but really my post was about the board as a whole and these new changes. On a personal note - I hope that you and I can move on from our past differences and be cool. I know I'm willing to turn the page and that's how I'm seeing these new changes. But really Jordan - everything I stated was directed at this board and towards this topic... nothing was directed specificly to you other than the statements directly above this run-onathon like sentance.
  18. It's very simple for me in my interpretation of what this thread includes... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Acceptable I don't agree with what you've said but you're entirely entitled to your point of view. Unacceptable You're an ass clown who should get smacked sideways until you're bleeding out your ears. Just shut the **** up, you're wrong. Acceptable If Ozzie wouldn't have pulled Sale in the 8th for Thornton, we would have won the game. This type of management has cost us at least 6 games so far and I expect upper management to make some changes before 2012 if this continues. Unacceptable **** you Ozzie, you moron. My little sister would have known not to pull Sale. Ozzie is a buffoon. This organization is done. Acceptable Dude! Juan was 0 for 4 again today and got caught stealing 15 times ( even though he didn't get on base ). He's clearly the worst player in history since he got caught stealing 15 times without even getting on base. It's pretty amazing how bad he has been this year. Unacceptable Jaun needs to be shot. F*cking loser. Acceptable I'm really hopeful that we're going to see the best of what is to come for this team in 2011. We can win this division and I'm hopeful of that still. We've got about 90 games left - 40 of which are against teams in the Central. Unacceptable Look, the Sox are the best team in the Central - flat out... end of story. If you think otherwise, then shut your mouth and go post somewhere else. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think that all of the conversation that was inspired by these recent changes really comes down to people being unable to objectively look at their behavior and take personal responsibility for their actions. There are rules here and it took me a couple of years in my college days to accept that. Recently when things got really heated for me and I got out of line... I was the first to own up and actually call for action to be taken against me. It comes down to personal responsibility, integrity, and valuing this site enough to conform to the very very little expectations which come as a part of being a member here. If anyone is unable to be considerate and aware of the rules - then it's very simple... this just isn't the right place for you. ( and that is not directed at anyone - it's just a general logical statement. ) In the end - Soxtalk should be a place where everyone is allowed to express their point of view - may it be positive or negative - with some simple consideration of all involved. It's not a one way street and these new rules are just being instituted to support the ability for all to express themselves in a productive way that is amicable to all. Hopefully these rules can be seen as a new start and we all can stop being so divided and come together without all of the drama that has been rampent here thus far in 2011. That's how I'm seeing it at least and in no way am I claiming innocence. Let's all own up - take responsibility - and move on under a better collective footing. End of story??? or is there more clarification that is needed??? If I'm unclear or missing something - please, let me know... I'm open ears. Cheers....
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) Rios, .879 OPS before ASB vs. a Brian Anderson-esque .684 last year in the 2nd half. We'd have to be elated to get 684 again this season. thanks for the clarification there - I couldn't remember exactly how rios's season went last year. on the other points - I was just stating some general thoughts / hopes and don't really have any interest in a debate
  20. I'll give it a crack... Juan Pierre has been WAY down across the board this year. We all know that. All his statistics are no bueno - may it be fielding, stolen bases, or on base percentage. The logical choice is to replace him but it seems that pride or some stubborn faith within our organization is preventing a move from being made. Hell, I hope that Juan turns it around but seriously - every time a fly ball is hit his way -- I hold my breath. On the rare occasion that he actually gets on base - I foresee him getting thrown out ( though since he only has 2 attempts this month - it seems he has stopped trying to use his "wheels" ) Anyhow.... there is a bunch to harp on when it comes to our production from the leadoff / LF spot but I for one really hope that Juan improves... I just don't expect it. One thing I do fully expect - is for some sort of moves to be made within the next 6 weeks. What they'll be - I have no clue... but I do have trust in the belief that Kenny, Ozzie, and Jerry all really want to make the team better - even if it means biting the bullet. You'd have to hope that last years rotating DH brought Ozzie some humility... if it didn't thou, I wouldn't be surprised. I have faith that Rios, Dunn, and Beckham will all have good second half numbers. Rios came on strong last year during the second half if I'm not mistaken. Beckham had a great second half for sure - that I remember well. Dunn has been so consistent with his end of season numbers that I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he put up monster power numbers coming shortly and carrying into October. Our bullpen looks to be locked in. Humber is the real deal and the rest of the rotation is doing well. Things are looking up for the Sox and with Detriot losing 2 of 3 to a HORRID dodger team... we're in this thing. It'll be a fun few months of the 2011 season coming up here. Go SoX! Let's sweep Washington and have a 30 game summer run circa 2010
  21. Finally. Actions like this to shape this place up have been necessary for a long time now. I'm really glad that these statements have been made.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 05:28 AM) "We are going to say stuff to each other at times that may not sit well with the other. Talk through it and get it straight. Like I said, I love A.J. Pierzynski to death. He competes his rear end off and has for many years. He won a World Series here. I would like to do that again with him." I hope that this lights a fire under the entire team. These two are some of the most competitive players in the league and I'm happy to have them both. Hopefully we're starting to see things turn around here. First place by the break baby!
  23. Hows the weather looking for el game amigos?
  24. Let's make this a flipping 12 game winning streak! First place by the all-star break - GET IT!
  25. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) I think he needs to be benched at least 50% of the time against lefty starters until he shows something. Maybe a bit less on the road. Sure would be nice if we could bat the TANK against LHP for him until Dunn shows some more life.
