  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) Why? Millard is no great shakes there. They seemed interested before too. Do they have some 1B prospect stud I am unaware of? I think the O's would do a Fields/Gio or Danks/Broadway/Anderson or Sweeney Make the deal- give us 72 hours to extend Bedard to the cool tune of 5yrs/75 million and we're good. 15 mil a year for Bedard? Ummmmmm yeah. Especially if we're even considering 13.5 for Rowand.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Tomorrow, someone will say how we're so desperate for a starting pitcher, and I'll respond that the clear solution is 6/$70 for Livan Hernandez. These just won't stop being funny to me. Maybe we'll steal Freddy back at 3 yrs/36 mil. It'd be fun watching ALL base runners take 2nd on him and watch Fred not give a frig about it.
  3. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) Apparently, the Jays are prepared to send him to the Giants for either Matt Cain or Tim Lincecum - the Giants choice. I know that Danks might not be either of them but what if the Sox added Gio ? Rios is 3 years away from free agency and can play CF. Would you send Danks and Gio for Rios ? The Sox could sign a veteran starter for 2008. sorry - didn't see a Rios post already How sick would Toronto's pitching be? Halladay/Burnett/McGowan/Cain or Lincecum Mark another AL team that would be better than us. (The Jays probably are already at this point). Since we're talking about the Jays.....Big Hurt is the man.
  4. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) Except that Crede is far better than Fields defensively at 3B. Best move for the team, if you keep both players AND Crede shows up at ST healthy, is to have your best defensive 3B at 3B, and move Fields to 1B. Keep one or the other....not both.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 11:00 AM) There continues to be fewer than zero starting pitchers on this FA market I'd actually be interested in seeing on the White Sox next year. Kyle Lohse at 3/$30, that'll save us! Is he the flavor of the day? The Silva 5/$60 gave me a chuckle yesterday. This just sounds like you blowing off steam this morning.
  6. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) I think this move of Konerko and putting Fields at 1B make more sense then some of the stuff we have been hearing. I like PK a lot, but I think losing Crede and putting Fields at 3B is areal downgrade defensively. Fields is way too good of an athlete to put at 1B.
  7. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:54 AM) Uribe isn't crap compared to Burke, especially now that we have a better SS. Burke can play our two most precarious positions (CF, 2) and can also provide a spark off the bench because (unlike Uribe) he can actually run. Uribe is painful to watch play baseball, other than good defense, which we wont see anymore anyway because of Cab Like someone on this board said- "If Uribe can see his feet, he's a good SS." If Uribe's off the field distractions are past him, I'd like to see him brought back next year. I feel we owe him that, just on that 9th Inning in Game 4 of the WS in '05. As far as him being crap compared to Burke......hey if you like Burke, then that's fine. But if that really were the case Houston wouldn't be looking to deal the guy.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Wouldn't Chris Burke to the White Sox send a buzz through the hotel lobby in Nashville like we have never seen before? HAHAHA I don't know what people see in Burke. I'd rather just keep Uribe and have him come off the bench.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) Saying that Dontrelle who had a bad season is done as a pitcher is nonsensical as well. Do you realize that left handed pitchers who have had success in the NL might attract an offer or 2. Eh I think Dontrelle is done as a starter myself. I really like Dontrelle, but his off-speed (his slider) has gone to hell because he's had arm problems. I see D-Train being lightning in a bottle until about May 15th.....then AL teams will have a couple looks at his freaked up wind-up and teams will hit him. I watched D-Train late last year and he was throwing like 86.
  10. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) Get Cabrera then trade Willis if you want that is not a valid excuse sorry KW, 2 more specs that are low rated anyway who cares spin the wheel make the deal! Whoever got D-Train is stuck with him. D-Train is damaged goods and will only be a LR guy for the rest of his career. Don't get me wrong, I love what Detroit did...but they didn't get Miggy for free. If people want to hate Kenny, I'm cool with that. Just hate him for things he's said about Frank Thomas and his personality around other personnel and people in baseball. Don't hate him for not getting Miggy because he didn't have much control of that.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:33 AM) Thanks for the laugh Kenny. Now get back into the meetings and get to work. LMAO I was thinking the same thing....great call.
  12. If anyone here isn't familiar with me yet- I hate Kenny Williams. Not so much for his baseball savvy, but because he's an arrogant assclown. With that being said, KW's off-season has been fine. Not getting Hunter for all those bucks was a blessing in disguise. We have a SS that we can go to war with every day in OC and people will love that trade more and more as next season goes forward. KW still has work to do, but regardless of people saying we could've gotten Miggy....that's nuts. I firmly believe we weren't going to have gotten him for our top 5 young players. If KW still gets a "Big Fish" like a Bedard or Haren (I'm totally just dropping names here and there is nothing to it but my own speculation) this off-season may not have been so terrible. KW......you're ok with me as of now. Just keep your cool.
  13. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:23 AM) That would be illegal. So I'll see you in the ticket exchange then? Cool? Cool.
  14. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:20 AM) Cowley is on the Score saying that 4 years won't do it. If they give 5 years, the money could be less. So 5yrs/60 mil? Yeah he's worth Konerko money......why don't we throw in a no-trade to boot? This is getting ridiculous.
  15. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) According to Cowley, the Sox would have had Cabrera if they would have given a couple extra prospects to get Willis too. The Sox wouldn't do it. Danks, Fields, Gio and Owens... Even if we would've offered that the Detroit deal was still better. People need to let this go- we weren't getting Miggy. Wait two years.
  16. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 10:15 AM) So, Rowand would be the highest paid guy on our team? How f***ed up is that! The more the days after November pass...the more I feel sorry for myself being a season ticket holder. I'll pay primo for a Yankee game from you if you don't want those...
  17. LOL Can we let the Fukudome idea go? We really haven't been on his radar at all. Lets just start hating him now because he's going to be a Cub.
  18. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) I'd like to trade for Bedard, too, but we don't have anyone they'd want. ARow back? Why not? Exciting? No. I understand that it's totally unrealistic, but KW talked about being realistic. Rowand worth 55 mil over 4 years? That doesn't sound like being realistic to me. Hopefully KW just keeps his cool about losing his top two targets and realizes he can still have a quality off-season. I believe he will and not lose his mind and give in to what Rowand wants.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:40 AM) What would you rather see them do? Not trying to be obnoxious, I'm just curious. What is your preference of those players available for CF at this point? Aaron Rowand is a solid player and I like him, but I'd rather see us throw those millions anywhere else. I'd rather see us deal for Bedard and extend him with some of that money (I know it absolutely won't happen). I'd rather see us go that route and throw mega bucks that way. I understand that would be that much more costly with having to deal a Danks/Gio and others to get a guy like that- but I'd rather throw mega dollars a guy like that rather than Rowand.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) 4 years $13.5M per should get him. No thanks.
  21. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 04:41 AM) IMO, Detroit will get burned by the MCab deal. Esp when MCab can sign with the Sox in 2 yrs. That's what I tell all of my friends to feel like a big shot.
  22. QUOTE(kageman129 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) If this is the best trade proposal the Marlins got, what the hell were the other teams offering? I honestly think the Sox could have got Miguel and Dontrelle for better talent than the Tigers gave up. Tell me this didn't happen! Miller and Maybin are better prospects than anything we have. That's not a cheap shot on our farm system considering Maybin and Miller are both two of the better prospects in the game. Add in the fact that the Tigers have thrown in 4 other prospects on this and the Marlins did pretty well for themselves.
  23. Steve Phillips was just on OTL and said that the talks with the Angels have momentarily broken down. He said the Tigers are now in discussion with the Marlins in a deal not only for Miggy but for Dontrelle Willis as well. The Tigers are supposedly offering Andrew Miller and Cameron Maybin (probably a few other prospects) for Miggy and Dontrelle.
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) Willie Harris hates that you have forgotten him and hates that he was not an option, regardless of the fact that he is still Atlanta Braves property. and we deserve that from him.
  25. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) we think alike. He'll be given away like Tad Iguchi was. Other teams know the WSox don't have a choice so it really isn't worth holding out much.
