  1. LeBron pulled the "real fans" card... yeah, sorry, but you don't do that under any circumstances, ever. That is some Brett Favre type of s***.
  2. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) I'm hoping the Lakers get Phil one more ring next year. Maybe the Bulls should trade Rose to the Lakers for Fisher just out of spite.... How about you pretend you never said this and we'll call it water under the bridge
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) I had this discussion earlier with my best friend. I think the problem is that they overestimated the maturity and intelligence with which these twentysomething year old kids would handle the process. Instead of hiring intelligent people around them, they've decided to listen to their friends and try and form an NBA dynasty as if this were one of their AAU summer leagues. Unfortunately, it's not. And it's going to really hurt their own legacies and the NBA as a whole. All of the other NBA greats (Jordan, Magic, Bird, and yes, Kobe) created their own legacies, they didn't all collude to go to the same team (something owners can't get away with btw) to make it easy to win a championship. Something I'm really sold on yet btw.
  4. I'm not really upset about LeBron going to Miami... I'm upset about Bosh, Wade, and LeBron pretending like they didn't know they were all going to Miami from the beginning, and f***ing with everybody for 2 weeks.
  5. Also what did the Bulls' front office do wrong? Seriously. The team is better than it was last year.
  6. I hope David Stern is happy now that all the superstars play in like 4 cities. Several million people just simultaneously lost interest in the NBA for at least 5 years.
  7. My friend posted earlier on Facebook that she knew his cousin and he said LeBron was going to Miami. I threw the bulls*** flag - not because I don't think he's going to Miami, but because these are the same "sources" that have been bulls***ting everyone all along and changing things every 2-3 hours.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Somebody just sent me this. ROTFLMAO. That is some funny s***. And so true. lol I posted this on facebook earlier
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) It's because you're a s***ty fan. lol. must be. I knew each time they won, but I didn't put 2 and 2 together that they were all happening in a row.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) Im definitely not watching the all-star game now. I wasn't going to even if Paulie won.
  11. I love it when I forget there is a game in the afternoon, then I check to see what time today's game starts and see the Sox won already. And I don't know why, but I didn't even notice they were about to do a 4-game sweep.
  12. Anyone feel like facepalming? This link was posted by someone in my Facebook news feed earlier: http://www.tangle.com/view_video?viewkey=e...21f873cc42b9fe9 All well and good but then here's her comment that was the kicker (she is a black, female, hardcore liberal btw): I didn't know where to start so I said "I don't understand this post" and then someone commented this: That wasn't nearly as bad as the first comment, but I realized I wasn't in the mood to argue this so I deleted my comment and gave up.
  13. "Why can't I own a Canadian" is a satirical essay someone wrote mocking people who take everything in the Bible literally and run around screaming it at everyone else.
  14. Mitt Romney wrote a very, very uninformed, and downright stupid essay in the Washington Post criticizing the nuclear treaty. At one point he is talking about how we pay no attention to Russian bombers because the Russians can load ICMS onto them. That's a mind-blowingly stupid comment that almost makes Sarah Palin sound like she briefly considered attending a foreign relations briefing once. You don't drop ICBMs from a bomber, you drop bombs from a bomber (WHICH IS WHY IT'S CALLED A f***ING BOMBER, EARTH TO MITT). We may as well start checking Russian submarines so those can't drop bombs, either.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) Well oddly enough the biggest US markets have also been the most damn successful in NBA basketball. I'm not saying being in a big market doesn't matter but originally we were talking about LeBron and New York (I thought) and it was kind of all over the place.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) What? Yeah, that's the point. The bulls are a global brand because of jordan and it benefits the players on the bulls. Lebron would have an uphill battle to make the cavs and that matters. The celts/bulls/lakers - people know these teams and players abroad. Basketball is by far the most popular american sport globally. When i've traveled people knew who derrick rose was. They didn't know who chris paul was. I wonder why? Think of it this way. Manchester United is by far the best known soccer team in the U.S. That's probably the one a lot of people could name if even just casual followers. Take a really good player like Cristiano Renaldo *also since he's kinda flamboyant and I bet anything he's a hell of a lot more popular than on Real Madrid. This stuff matters. And there's a lot of money in doing s*** like razor commercials in europe. Well I thought we were talking about how bigger markets can make LeBron more money, not the other players. Hence my confusion I guess.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Jordan made the bulls a global brand. News of a new amazing bull on the only team a lot of countries followed means sudden interest and markets in china/europe/south america, etc. that he would not see in cleveland. That's more for the player marketing the team than vice versa. Jordan made Jordan a global brand as much as he made the Bulls a global brand.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) I don't, especially globally. It actually helps to have had stars before pave your way when you are talking about global endorsements. I don't understand what you mean.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) He's going to make a ton of money no matter what. But it's undeniable that going to Chicago or New York gives him access to a much larger fan base and a much larger local market. There will be millions more people interested in buying Lebron jerseys, shoes, haircare/beverage/food/etc products he's selling if he's on the Knicks as opposed to the Cavs. It's true, I just think the difference is oversold.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Cleveland is his home. He's not going to spurn Cleveland when he can make just as much or more money there than anywhere else. Money making potential? He's Tiger Woods pre scandal. He can make zillions anywhere. He's not going to leave Cleveland for New York. Chicago makes absolutely no sense. He'll be so hated. Yeah, I actually don't know if I buy the whole "market" idea, LeBron is going to be able to make a ton off endorsements wherever he goes.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) Nah, Noah will camp out on the other block or streaking to the basket for garbage boards and put backs. ^^This. Noah knows his offensive limitations.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) They'd all be sexual harrassment and divorce jokes anyway... Well played
  23. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) they also had been teammates on the Cavs in 2003, then Boozer left Lebron hanging by bolting for the Jazz. Would Lebron really take Boozer serious on free agency matters again? Boozer was pretty slimy with how he left Cleveland, he had a gentlemen's agreement with ownership that he was going to re-sign with Cleveland after he opted out (mutual option I guess) and he turned around and left for more $$ in Utah.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) Some. Still mostly LBJ. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) 80% b****ing, 15% Boozer, 5% optimism Ok so I didn't miss anything.
