  1. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) IraHeatBeat: The overview of where the Dwyane Wade situation stands, appreciating there are more than basketball angles at play. http://bit.ly/96zn03 It's like he's finally seen the light. I don't think many are under the illusion that Wade is DEFINITELY going to Chicago (since that would in fact be stupid) but damn at least acknowledge that he's thinking about it and the idea that he might be staying in Miami isn't any kind of foregone conclusion.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) How many walks did Viciedo draw in the minor leagues? He is the definition of a free swinger. You're probably thinking "not very many" and you'd be right if you were.
  3. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) RicBucher: If Wade isn't staying in Mia, someone needs to explain why. He bangs the drum for weeks for Pat, now he's going to Chi/NY? Makes 0 sense. 1 minute ago via web Kinda self-explanatory isn't it? He tried to have his cake and eat it too, he saw there was a pretty good chance it might not work out with him getting what he wanted, and explored other options in case that fell through and he got stuck on a s***ty team in Miami all by himself.
  4. I have another friend trying to get me to do one of those annoying mid-level marketing deals. Started with the whole "would it interest you to get in on a company before it goes big, check out this presentation." I saw it coming, I cut her off. Sure I like making money but come on don't bulls*** me like I'm not going to be working 30, 40, 50 hours a week on it if I'm going to be successful, like all I gotta do is give you a couple hundred and sit back and watch the checks flow in. Come on now.
  5. Boozer got pushed around by bigger players in the playoffs, I wouldn't really characterize him as a bad defender.
  6. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) So what bucher was saying that the bulls went to lebron today and lied to him about having Wade and demanded him to sign right there. Ya somehow I doubt that happened. lol that's an exaggeration at best. I mean I'm sure they tried to play up the "Wade is strongly considering coming here" angle but lying outright? Yeah not so much That said, there was all this talk of "LeBron won't go to Miami with Wade, they can't play together" and there is a little bit of cognitive dissonance going on
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Yeah you'd be firmly entrenched in NBA hell. Picking about 20th every year and losing in the first, maybe second round. NBA hell is the bottom of the lottery/7th or 8th seed material. I think that lineup would be better than that, and they might give some really good team fits in the playoffs, but they'd never make it to the Finals.
  8. Lee and Boozer would be a playoff team every year but they wouldn't win s***.
  9. Bucher is basically just trying to make guesses and throwing s*** out there. Dude. Either you know something or you don't.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) It really is none of our business. We have no right to know. Pretty much what I was saying, yeah. It's his business and I think they want to keep it that way.
  11. Puts and Jenks's numbers haven't even been close this season, last time I compared their stats Putz was like twice as effective in every category. Bobby's been MUCH better the last month but he to call him mediocre for the other 2 months would be generous.
  12. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) Cavs spent six months working on a 10 minute cartoon for LBJ. Supposedly the Cavs know that he likes "inside jokes, and stupid jokes." If LeBron is convinced by that then I'm not sure what to think . . . other than he may be a moron. Meh that's just rapport-building, nothing more. Granted, this is going to the extreme, but the principle is no different.
  13. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) There was some bonehead trying to say Rose is a better basketball player than Lebron.... they cut him off thankfully I typically think NFL fans are the dumbest, but over the last few weeks I've been proven wrong. Definitrly the NBA.
  14. The only thing I've seen about Bobby is that he went to go and tend to his wife. I didn't see anything about a death in the family, I guess they are trying to keep it personal
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) Great post...take Jermaine Dye for example. Greg would probably say I'm a hater of Dye's, just because we were critical of his defense and wondered if he had hit the wall last season. However, I might be the only one, but I appreciate Jermaine's time with the Sox more than the likes of Carlos Lee and Magglio. Dye is the best FA signing in Sox history. Dye was my favorite White Sox from about July 2005 until last year even when he was f***ing awful. I liked him better than Buehrle, Konerko, Crede, Rowand, all those fan favorites (still loved those guys though).
  16. I don't look on Crede, Pods, or JD with disgust, just because I either criticize a flaw in their game (e.g. Dye being absolutely useless in the second half of 2009, or thinking it's completely silly to even consider bringing Crede back, or understanding that Pods and Pierre are basically the same player) doesn't mean that's what I'm doing. And frankly being shoehorned into that position with strawman arguments is pretty f***ing irritating.
  17. It is kind of sexist, but I had a guy over selling us windows and my wife wanted some elaborate $15k aluminum siding and decorations, and I was vetoing it because I wanted either a new furnace, new roof, or new HVAC system. The guy said "you know what, you just described 90% of the married couples' houses I go into, the woman wants something that looks nice and the man wants something functional or that will save money"
  18. I thought Chicago writers had some homer tendencies but Miami writers seem like they've been desperately throwing s*** at the wall and hoping that's what happens.
  19. I have 2 refrigerators and an electric furnace, but in any case BGE did a massive rate hike a couple of years back. Cost of living on the east coast blows fat cock.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) Its not his defense that has improved, it is his mental approach. He is way more focused this year. I don't think I saw him go to right field at the right times this many times for his whole career, until this year. That was always Alexei's problem... ridiculous ability, dumb as a box of rocks. But I haven't seen any evidence of that at all this year.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) When they play the western conference in the all-star game? lol I was going to say, except for Dwight Howard that'd probably be the Eastern all-star starters right there.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) No. Rose is more well-rounded and the team needs a point guard. You, sir, have been drinking too much.
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Quite funny how after he did that, no Bulls fan on here wanted to sign his ass. Now it's different obviously. FWIW, I still see Bosh and Wade going to Miami, although the former is a 50-50 bet. For Lebron it's either the Bulls or Cavs with the Nets as a wildcard. Yeah I don't even remember anything like that. Not liking what he said, resigning ourselves to thinking he doesn't want to come here because of it, and us not wanting to come here are all different things.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) All of the Heat beat writers are like the Iraqi defense minister, just denying as much as they can. It's quite funny. *information minister
