  1. When he's talking about the Sox I love Hawk. And I can definitely understand how a non-Sox fan would hate him. When he starts going off about the umps or develops a bizarre fetish for s***ty opposing players like Carlos Gomez he's unbearable. I can't watch him when the Sox are losing to the Twins and I actually tune into the Twins broadcast sometimes to avoid him. Other than that, yeah, ill be sad when he retires.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) the all star game just plain sucks. ding ding ding

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Tank and Cuban Tank are just awesome. Makes me think of Tank Abbott. ...I think I'm gonna start calling him Tank Viciedo since I'm still not sure how Dayan is pronounced, anyway. in Spanish all of the As are pronounced like "ah" so it would sound like die-yahn.
  4. I was going to salvage this s***ty trip by driving to Houston or New Orleans next weekend but now it's looking like I'll be working those days. FML.
  5. Ok so I'm on a business trip to Louisiana, in some small ass town in the middle of nowhere, and I'm on an AT&T network (I'm T-mobile, I don't get charged for roaming though) and all of a sudden like 45 mins ago it disconnects data from me and tells me I'm on an international network and if I want data I have to pay international rates. WTF? Uh no, Louisiana is in the United States.
  6. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 05:18 PM) Cocksucker isn't a dirty word? lol lol it's just one of those that's not in the word filter, like "asshole" But George Carlin (RIP) explains this in thorough detail.
  7. FIRST PLACE MOTHERf***ERS! YES! s*** PISS f*** c*** COCKSUCKER MOTHERf***ER AND TITS!
  8. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) If anything I think sometimes the mods are a little bit too strict, vast majority of posters are senior in highschool or older so not like a bunch of kids that need policing. Sure sometimes it gets nasty and a warning to cool things down is needed but overall there shouldnt be much policing. lol. man. we're sooo not strict man. Honestly. I run the area that probably would produce the most suspensions by nature (Filibuster) and I can count on one hand the number of posters I've suspended and that includes a general election season. Add in the ones that the globals or admins have done and it still fits on one hand. You're right in that this place doesn't really need (or want) much policing but to keep it from being a cesspool actually does take some effort. Every now and then one of us has to be "that guy," but even still, a lot of what we talk about ends up being no action taken and never makes it out to the main board, not because we're being secretive or anything, but because there's just no need to bring these things up and start conflict for no reason.
  9. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 12:56 AM) I had mlb.tv the past two seasons before this one, and I thought it was great. There is some weird blackout thing on sundays or some s*** that pissed me off, but other than that, it was a godsend. The only reason I didn't re-subscribe was that I just didn't have the time to watch the games. I may actually get it after the all star break. That's Fox, they f*** MLB.TV up on Saturdays.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Great game, Gavin. 110 pitches is a lot nowadays. But what if he had a no hitter going? Would he be allowed to go 120-130 pitches to complete a no no? That's what's crazy about pitch counts. What if a no hitter was going on with five or six walks and a lotta foul balls? Yes, he would. I think it was in 2008 where he was taking a no-no into the 9th and he had a lot of pitches, like 115, and Ozzie kept him in until it got broken up.
  11. I didn't want to trade any veterans because they were playing so poorly that nobody would've given us anything.
  12. I volunteered to go to Louisiana for business like an IDIOT and now I'll be spending the next 10 days in rural Louisiana. I guess next weekend I'll drive to either Houston or New Orleans.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Aside from it just being a terrible idea, I'm curious to what would be a fair return for Rose. My buddies and I were having this discussion a few weeks ago. Outside of Durant, factoring in age, contract, and ability, name me 5 more valuable assets in the NBA than Rose.... LeBron James and Dwyane Wade? (I don't care what they're getting paid, it's the amount of wins they add to your team.) I'd put Deron Williams on that list too.
  14. Yeah I was going to say, by the time those 3 contracts run out, Rose will be a franchise player and still in the heart of his prime, barring unforeseen circumstances. Those kinds of players don't just fall out of trees. Noah is more replaceable but still, unless you're trading for another player, there's no guarantee you'll get someone like him in the draft, either.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) Oh, I agree that nobody thought we'd get this hot. But it's still illustrates why it's ridiculous for people to want to mail in the season in late May or early June. And there were quite a few people who did. As far as I'm concerned the flaming epic fail to start the season is water under the bridge now.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) I'm too lazy to look them up, but I'd love to go back and read some of those "our season is over, we suck, we'll never catch the Twins" posts that cluttered the board before we got rolling. eh anybody who expected they'd get THIS hot is just lying. They are as good after losing the series to Cleveland in June as they were bad before it. Actually, better... much better.
  17. Even if he hadn't lost it I don't think Andruw was going to be able to catch that liner.
  18. Kendall needs to be ashamed that Juan Pierre of all outfielders just held him to one base on that hit.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) That's the Bannister I know. Man, CQ is on a roll. When he's hot like this you wonder how he's capable of being bad, like earlier in the year. He attacks the ball. Watching this Sox team makes me wonder how they were ever capable of being bad.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) For me, he's the most important Sox player in history. I'd say Frank Thomas... but eh I'm probably biased, he is why I'm a Sox fan and not a Cubs fan (although I may have figured it out later on my own seeing as how the Cubs are usually terrible)
  21. I turned around to see Gordon take a swing thinking superstitiously "if I watch him the whole time he will hit a bomb." Next swing, BOOM! You're welcome all.
