  1. Bobby could intentionally set an orphanage on fire and there are a handful of posters here that'd say "oh but he only did it one time"
  2. Yeah... honestly... Tea Party really is the same thing as "Republican" with a better marketing package and an army of media types that weren't around 10 years ago specifically dedicated to branding and selling them. I would not say they appeal to "moderates" or "independents" but I define those words differently. They have populist ideas, like lowering taxes, but that idea isn't really unique at all, is pretty meaningless by itself, and the "independents" it appeals to are either people who don't call themselves Republicans but still vote for them 100% of the time, or people who actually believe in the s*** we shuffle around every 2-4 years and buy the promises politicians make them. There is also really no such thing as a "moderate." There are people like me, who don't like the Democratic party and have voted for Republicans a time or two before, but everyone knows when push comes to shove I'll usually vote Democrat because I'd rather put up with the Democrats' bulls*** since I feel like I can see thru the Republicans... am I really that independent? Then there's cynics and disinterested people who occasionally latch onto a candidate they like, and then there's just flakes that really don't know why the f*** they're voting and have stupid reasons for voting the way they do. So most of the "middle" might be open-minded but they still vote Democratic or Republican most of the time.
  3. On page 12 and 13 they rip my organization pretty good. Although it's pretty oversimplified in the way they say it. If you don't know something, you don't know something. The FBI is really, really good at shifting blame when they f*** something up and making everyone believe they were actually doing a great job. btw: even though this is not my real identity or anything, I'm really not supposed to be speaking on this in public at all (Soxtalk would be considered "public"). If you want to know about what I think you can ask me in private, on Facebook or whatever.
  4. I flew from Alexandria, Louisiana to Houston, about 10 minutes prior to landing I suddenly develop an upset stomach and I feel a case of diarrhea coming on. I uncomfortably hobbled around the airport for a while looking for a place to buy Pepto-Bismol and there is this place called the Fox News Store that saved the day. So it turns out that Fox News is good for s*** after all.
  5. Tethering app for Android (PdaNet) >>> paying for hotel or airport wi-fi.
  6. I was about to write how the last time I checked Fangraphs Quentin had a way to go before matching Dye's UZR which was usually in the solid -20s, but I just checked for accuracy and CQ is a -30.9 for 2010 so far... ouch. It's not a full season, but that is worse than Dye has ever been.

    Steve9347?

A better way of asking that would be saying "which posts"
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Check my posts. I said you'd all have a meltdown when he finally blew one. After giving him little credit when he was nasty recently. What have you done for me lately, baby? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7285/s...tkWrKdfq7WFCLcF Take all the credit you want for June, he was unhittable and a ERA of .75 and a WHIP of .67 is some s*** from a video game. But don't pretend like April and May didn't happen. Especially May when he was a glorified pitching machine (they were hitting .355 off him, among other terrible stats) and you made it a point to talk about how he'd only blown one save.
  9. lol one bad outing. he was hot for like a month. his ERA is working on 5.
  10. Bobby Borowski Joe Jenks Todd Jenks Bobby Jones I'm confused as to which one it is.
  11. One of the things I did not like about being in Louisiana for a week: EVERYWHERE I went had on Fox News, and a couple of the people I work with were typical blowhards that ranted and rambled about something different every 15 minutes (e.g., homosexuals are digusting, filthy people, and stereotyping them all as wanting to have gay orgies and buttsecks conventions, and if you disagree you need to have your head examined, Obama hates America and anyone who voted for him needs to be sent to Mexico, etc.) That is by far the most obnoxious thing a person can do to me at work... what makes you think I want to hear that even if I did agree with any of that? I don't live and breathe politics in everyday life... I started slipping outside and then later got more and more rude about it and I'd just walk away while they were in mid-sentence.
  12. The exchange between Rex and 2K5 was pretty awesome. It went something like: Rex: (posts link, summary) "these people say they want small government when in reality they want government literally up the ass" 2K5: "no, they want it out of the ass, thank you very much"
  13. lol. look guys, I'm not gonna write a dissertation to make a simple point that I've tried to make like 10 times at various points on this board. The hysteria over minor changes in the tax rates is totally unfounded and in some cases are more or less a naked giveaway to the wealthy and criticism of this point is avoided by randomly shouting hyperbolic phrases like "class warfare."
  14. It's funny, the posters that are worried about their warn level are the ones that have never started any s*** and have warning levels of 0%. lol
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) I bet mine is ~30%? 10% from a warning you got 3 years ago (if you have anything over 0% you probably already know even if you think you don't. I think sending a PM of some kind is a mandatory field)
  16. Also a lot of times when people don't pay estate tax that's a huge chunk of money that just never gets taxed at all, a total get-over and makes higher income types effectively pay less taxes overall. Don't let them bulls*** you. (I could explain this better another time)
  17. A simple graph of tax rates vs. government revenue vs. GDP shows that's bulls***. Here's one:
  18. ^^didn't think green is needed on either of those posts
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) Lowering taxes has clearly led to an incredibly balanced budget. We have absolutely no recent stories of taxes being raised prior to the budget being balanced. Not spending is really easy. I wonder why they haven't thought of that yet?
  20. lol how is Michelle Obama not a government official and hypocritical at the same time?
  21. My friend said he was "shocked" and I was like why? It probably sounds mildly crass to put it this way but you could amend the headline to say "Old Guy In Poor Health Dies"
  22. I don't know if that qualifies as "good news" since everything is already f***ed up.
  23. Every George Carlin fan (and I know there are several on this board) should read "Last Words." I kind of always wondered what Carlin thought his best work was. I thought he really hit full stride and started moving towards "legendary" status in the mid 80s and then had his best material in the 90s. Hearing it in his words, apparently he thought so too. He had a period where he stagnated and then had some kind of awakening where he realized his full potential. His best jokes weren't really jokes, although they were obviously still funny. The man was a gift to us all, he was an idol to me... RIP.
  24. I don't know why people don't like Stone - yeah he's pretty dry, but he really knows his s***. "Uninsightful" is about the most inaccurate word to describe him I can think of. I especially like it when he says something like "now would be a good time for (pitcher) to use his splitter" and 10 seconds later is a swinging strike 3 on a splitter.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) It's actually -14.1 according to FanGraphs, I'm assuming that might be more updated, I don't know. All I know is that he's been terrible out there. We've replaced one Jermaine Dye with another. Alex and Juan are trying their hardest to make up for him right now. The nice play he made was an out of zone play though, so you have to give him credit for that, but the price of getting hurt was really not worth the risk. IIRC JD used to routinely put up UZRs in the -20s.
