  1. Where do people get these kinds of ideas? (rhetorical question, I know the answer) This is from a facebook chat I had earlier. This is what happens when you listen to too much talk radio, he honestly believes that all liberals are disgusting pieces of s***, and since he has observed that I'm not one, that I can't possibly be a liberal.
  2. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 06:40 PM) I just saw an interview where Moore questioned some of the Great Leader's decisions. He must be reprimanded. Believe it or not, liberals are pissed at Obama for not being liberal enough.
  3. For the record I couldn't do my job if I only ever thought like an American. I wouldn't be able to see trends and patterns, motivations, political roots, the enemy's thought processes, the difference between each type of enemy etc.
  4. Well I have to mod this place so I kinda have to read it.
  5. Meh, totally uninteresting discussion. Anything that requires a reference to the Holy Book of Partisan Grievances is a waste of time.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) I could make a really convincing argument that it very well could have if nothing was done by the fed and Congress. I thought Chase was one of the ones in more decent shape?
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 05:55 PM) Grab the popcorn and read the comments in this one... Sanford Bike Accident Leaves Wrists Sprained The jokes are just too easy to make.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) Because I am sick of a entire group of people being stereotyped when the same thing just happened for the last eight years. People need to quit acting like idiots are something new and this is simply happening because Barack Obama is the President. Are you tired of right-wing extremists being called right-wing extremists? I mean, we could call them "extremists" but they are distinctly different from left-wing extremists. btw... I look at this stuff every day at work, and I did before the election, stuff the public will never see. Barack Obama being POTUS is absolutely a factor.
  9. What is being argued in this thread? I can't telll anymore. This is why I'm getting visibly irritated. Are we defending right-wing extremists or denying they exist? If so, what the f*** for? Are we calling liberals hypocrites? Are we saying Glenn Beck is bad for America? What?
  10. I want to know why a god damn equivalency needs to be drawn for everything and people can't just talk about things like they are. Hence, this thread is trash.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Not sure if i posted this. http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200910/bush-torture Too long not to just link. Hell of an article. He quoted my friend Tony in that article. Cool.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) So where were you during the Bush administration, when the exact same crap was going on in the violent hateful left wing of the Democratic party. I was mocking, rolling my eyes, and generally reacting with annoyance and/or disgust.
  13. Beck isn't a Republican, Bachmann is already established to be mildly psychotic so I'm not sure why people would defend her. A few months ago she stopped just short of calling for an armed revolution and she tried to backtrack shortly after. And yes Beck and Bachmann have said some ridiculously inacurate things about the census where Beck does his usual "I'm not saying, I'm just asking questions" routine. I was trying to defend bmags because he is saying it's not completely ridiculous to assume there might be a connection and it shouldn't automatically be dismissed out of hand. But no, nobody, at least directly, is saying "look what the Republicans did." That's just a lazy conclusion to draw, even lazier than assuming anyone who wonders where the murderer got their ideas from is accusing the GOP of domestic terrorism.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Wow, there is some bizarre s*** being thrown around in this thread. Some small-minded asshole from an area of the country that has a history of having a large amount of anti-government sentiment, NOT as part of the Republican party and WELL BEFORE the recent increase in GOP tea baggers, kills a cencus worker. And people here think that, in any way shape or form, the Republicans are responsible for it? Really? Nobody said anything like that. However, I'm going to say this - certain mainstream voices strike a chord/nerve with the extreme right. It's like dog whistles.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 03:36 PM) I don't know why anyone is suprised by this. The far right has a long history in this country of being violent. It's not like it just started. I think what Bachmann said was stupid, but extreme right wing violence was around before her and will be around long after she is retired. For s***s and giggles I wonder if someone can tell me what the political views/goals of far right extremists are. (disclaimer: in no way am I trying to link conservatives to far right extremists so don't try to act like I'm going there).
  16. i find it funny that bmags is going out of his way to unambiguously say that he thinks the murderer acted on his own account but he is still being accused of trying to subtly imply that Beck and Bachmann are responsible for it.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) If you'd like to concede the same thing for those army recruiters who got shot earlier this year then yeah sure. No, no, no, no. I suggest you read this book or one like it before attempting to draw any conclusions like that or trying to insinuate one. Although I'm really not even sure what you're trying to say, who is there in this country that is actually even remotely supporting terrorist networks on TV?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) You know, I know youre joking, but there's really nothing wrong with being well-informed about other places around the world. In fact, I find it depressing how many people know absolutely nothing outside of their little spheres they live in nowadays. It always cracks me up when people mention Africa as if it's a country, for example. In America there is no social incentive to be the "smart kid." I was an honor student my whole life and I can attest to that. It wasn't until almost the end of high school that having good grades got me extra points. I'm willing to be that isn't the case in somewhere like China or Japan.
  19. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) They are doing this, because it helps consolidate power regionally. Supplying the Palestinian insurgency helps gain them influence in both Palestinian territories and, to a lesser extent, Lebanon. Supplying weapons and money in Iraq gives them influence in Iraq. Deploying a nuclear weapon does nothing but end their power, not expand their power. Having a nuclear weapon and not deploying it expands their power virtually forces us to the table, because we suddenly have a vested interest in Iranian stability. Exactly correct. There are basic geopolitical reasons they do things just like any other country. They are out to preserve their country, not end it. Yes they are state sponsors of terror (Palestinians etc.) but the Sunni terrorists are their enemies. The whole Israel/Holocaust schtick is an intentional distraction, always has been. The more attention that is paid to that, the less accountability they have to face both domestically and internationally.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) The President of Iran seems to subscribe to this newsletter. Incorrect. That would be like saying you criticized Bush's spending, and so did Balta, therefore you have all the same political beliefs.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) Osama Bin Laden, twice. Iran =/= Osama bin Laden (by the way, his brand of religion is basically made up by people who have no religious authority whatsoever)
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) Its also a big difference in capability. Religious zealots don't value their homeland very much, it is whatever fate they are trying to fill that matters. Like I said, this sort of nihilistic/apocalyptic worldview only applies to Salafist/Qutb followers (Sunnis), not Shia. Most of the Palestinian issues are political and have been put under the religious umbrella.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) Serious props to Obama for getting Medvedev in on Iran. "Apologist"
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 09:45 AM) They are already supplying money and weapons to the Palestinians, and weapons and money in Iraq. In this day and age I don't believe you can't take people at their face value, especially if we allow them to go nuclear. There's a pretty big difference between that, and knowingly and intentionally sending your country on an irreversible path to obliteration.
