I just threw up in my mouth, but I guess I'm resigned to the fact that he might really be the best option, sad though that may be.

Mr Angelo, please trade for Jay Cutler!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 09:38 AM) Great strategy, because it won't happen. The Bears will not pay a franchise QB. They never have, and they never will under this management. You have to actually find one before you can pay one. -
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 06:08 PM) I know you're talking about cell phones. Yea, I have a t-mobile sidekick 3 and I can use that for news if I wanted to, but nothing beats having a good old-fashioned newspaper in front of you as you're eating your lunch or dinner. I use my phone for a multitude of things, from using soxtalk, adjusting my fantasy baseball rosters, google, wikipedia, porno, mapquest, facebook, and other online messageboards, but it's still not the same as physically having a copy of Chicago Sun-Times in your hands. In fact, I prefer finding my news from a newspaper instead of online sources. And... as I'm typing this, I know it's WAAAAY too much information, and I'm sorry about that, but... I'm typing this on my phone on the toilet, and right after I hit the "Add Reply" button, I'm gonna read from today's Chicago Sun-Times. Yep. just so random

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) Well, I just said if it's my stuff it's s*** too, so I'm at least consistant. lf, yea, I hear you, and it's not like that would balance the budget, but my problem is that earmarks = buying of votes = pure corruption. I agree with that fully, they just don't want to call each other out like that in public (I forgot to mention that both parties do this an equal amount). So their b****ing just sounds disingenuous.
-
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) Earmarks = attachments to what's NOT in the budget. Therefore, it doesn't have to go through appropriations. Listen, it's a problem. If that s*** is coming into my district, shame on my congressman, R or D. It's bulls***. It's a way to buy off votes, pure and simple. How do you think Olympia Snowjob, Arlena Spectacle, and Susan "Buy Me Off" Collins voted for the damn porkulus bill? Duh. It's bulls***, but nobody in Congress cares, in fact they like the convenience of being able to point to a random earmark and go "look at this silly s***!" because cute little marketing-type slogans are what catches in the 24-hour media cycle. Plus they act like it's like 15% of the budget, and all we have to do is stop earmarks and viola! the federal budget is fixed.
-
Pork is only pork when it's not in your district. When it goes to your district, it's critical, and we love it. The whole conversation about pork is so f***ing annoying, it's just a constant red herring that won't go away. Nobody ever planned to do anything about stopping it, nobody is now, and it's doubtful anyone ever will. All it does is dumb down the conversation over the bill. /rant

Well this is a different question if you're talking a position player or a pitcher. But I would take Hanley Ramirez, the only other position player that I'd consider is Albert Pujols.

He is. That's a dangerous motherf***er. lol there is a running joke in my office that I'm the angriest guy in the office, and I hate everything and everyone. So someone had this book on their desk. He couldn't resist.

lol Cutler is a little b****. I doubt if anything comes of this though. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 08:32 PM) That's just f***ing ignorant. Goddammit Kalapse stop posting things before I can. lol edit: I can't even come up with a comparable example to illustrate how ridiculous of a statement that is without switching sports because there really just aren't that many black players in MLB, I guess I'd have to use a different minority.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) I might be the only person here that hates McDonald's Nope.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) federal money goes to quite a bit of that stuff. Yeah, but I mean like a majority of funding. That's stuff the states run.
-
Most of those things you listed aren't paid for by federal dollars, or at least shouldn't be. Except military and homeland security.

QUOTE (G&T @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) All this time I thought I was the only one who like Crystal Pepsi. I also liked Coke II. I don't know if that makes my opinion more or less credible. Coke II was basically pepsi IIRC.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) You must have the wrong link - that doesn't look like the Burger Shots I see on their commercial AT ALL. And correct me if I'm wrong, but HAWT CHIX don't come around climbing all over you and saying thinly veiled sexual double-entendres if you have a bag of Sliders, DO THEY???? I went out and got herpes so I could go horseback riding, mountain climbing, and water skiing. Instead I just got a bunch of bumps on my dick, this is bulls***. I'm considering legal action.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) Burger King is notorious for copying (or attempting to copy) anything others in that industry do that's successful. They tried to copy McDonalds fries in the early 2000's. In the mid 2000's they tried to copy the mega burger type of things from Hardee's, when Hardee's started seeing success by marketing unhealthy in an era of healthy. Now they're copying White Castle. lol they even kind of half-assed it. It's just a regular Burger King burger but smaller. Brilliant! Is that really the best they could do?
-
So in honor of this thread I just bought a pack of Burger Shots and they tasted average as hell. Whatever marketing genius came up with this idea at Burger King must've barely passed that class in college.

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) I think we've created a caricature of Ozzie that is not realistic. He's not perfect, but more often than not he just strings us along for a while before making the correct (in our opinions) decision. I think this is accurate.

Metra gets final $7.9M funding needed for...

QUOTE (JoeCredeYes @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) The Rock Island doesn't go to OP. Goes through a few Beverly stops, then Blue Island, Midlothian, Oak Forest, 2 Tinley Park stops, 2 Mokena stops, New Lenox, and Joliet. If it's running express it goes straight from Midlo to Lasalle Station with a couple variations on that as well. I live in Tinley and walk to the Oak Park ave stop from my condo for work everyday, this is pretty cool, however I feel like I will probably still drive to games. I was looking at the SWS line when I said that, I don't know which is which. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Its right there. The RI line is probably no more than a couple hundred feet east of the Ryan. The station, I believe, is planned for the stretch of track from 35th street north, and it would be only a block or so further from The Cell than the Red Line 35th station is. Very convenient to the park (as well as IIT). Oh, you know, for as many times as I've used the Red Line I never knew there were Metra tracks that ran parallel to the Dan Ryan. I always used the ME line that runs along the lakefront, thru Hyde Park etc. It looks like there are 2 Metra lines that run together there, so a station at 35th could serve 2 lines? -

How close do the Metra tracks get to that side of the Dan Ryan? -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) Did you just compare being gay to being evil and wanting to kill people? There is a church in Kansas that you would like. I was going to swing at that fastball last night but figured someone else would.
