The Cell just went nuts and the players look all confused. The crowd is really into this now.

I bet Sweeney would have played today if it was the Sox in town.

Could be a long afternoon at the Cell. -
What are the odds of Kansas City winning this game with a one run lead in the 9th? Maybe 2 to 1?
-
Teahen has been clutch all series. One more time Mark.
-
Why did Westbrook even start this inning? Thanks Eric Wedge.
-
3 more outs baby.
-
A f***ing 2 out triple. Do you pitch to Hafner here with the hot Martinez on deck?
-
5 more outs...
-
Kansas City has made late comebacks in almost all of these games. Please have the magic to pull one out. WILD PITCH!!! KC LEADS!!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) Wouldn't it be worth it just to hear how many times Hawk could say the phrase "Sweet Lou"? One of these years also, Steinbrenner is going to just give up and fire Torre. If they miss the playoffs this year...who knows. Doubtful with the money left on Torre's contract. I get this feeling Lou is not the type of manager JR would ever hire. Just look at our list of past managers.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) To paraphrase Wanne: Today's the day....I've heard for the last 3 years what a lights out, big-game pitcher this guy is...well Mark...it's put up or STFU day for you. If Mark lays a f***in egg today....I'd seriously think about including him in some sort of package in the off season. It worked yesterday. I'll play along: Are you serious? Why would we even consider trading him? So we can have El Duque start in his place next year? He brought his game against Westbrook in Chicago but made a few small errors. Seems like every game is a "big game" for a pitcher.. Every game counts, geez..

http://riot.ieor.berkeley.edu/%7Ebaseball/...can_league.html Just add one to the "Clinch playoff" number here. That means 4 more wins and we are without a doubt in the postseason.

QUOTE(HeGone! @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) I can't stand those retarded Flubs fans who every day say something about how the Sox suck and I just say Oh yeah, well were not the ones already eliminated from the playoffs Shh, they don't know that yet.

f*** YEAAA. Keep it goin Birds.

Congrats Jose on your first career complete game. This has been a huge stretch of successful starts for Jose. He finally seems to have shaken the walk bug that would so often bite him in the ass. With a full season of this and some run support, this guy could make a serious run at 20 wins.

DJ doesn't really flatter himself on the air either.

I didn't feel like starting a thread about this, but I'm really just sick of watching Dye bat. I know he's trying to be patient but he's always taking at least one pitch per AB right down the pipe. He gets mistake pitches and fouls them off. He's not the only one guilty of this, but I'm just sick of him in the clutch.

KW did what he said he was going to do

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) The biggest difference, and really the only difference, is that we're still getting almost exactly as many hits, walks, HR, as before the break...but somehow we're scoring less runs. 4.80 runs per game before the break. 4.333 runs per game after the break. You know what I think the difference is? The difference is we stopped playing smart ball. I can't look up stats on sacrifice bunts, productive outs, and sac flies, because I don't know who compiles those, but we're just not moving people along any more. We're not getting them over, and when we do get them over, we're not getting them in. That's pretty interesting. I also wouldn't think 4.80 to 4.333 would cost us that many games in terms of our record. That's an average of us scoring about one less run every two games. I think back to the smartball thing and that's certainly valid. With Podsednik hamstrung, we are no longer scoring early nor often. That and I feel like our starting pitching is gassed and our bullpen is not up to the task. Besides games against Oakland, how many times did we get blown out in the 1st half of the season?
