  1. QUOTE(hi8is @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) irc usage built into a browser wtf Yeah I'm a bit skeptical on that too. I do like the feel of the builtin RSS reader better than Sage for Firefox. So far, it feels just like another Firefox otherwise.
  2. Has some other cool builtin features like email and IRC chat. Alot of stuff you can download for Firefox is already part of Opera. I haven't checked it yet but supposedly Opera is pretty good on memory usage too.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) Ya, I almost never use the function either. However, when it gets used it does use up a massive amount of resources. The big thing is it tends to lead to a hangup. But who knows, I know some people say they search a lot. I notice sometimes during game threads my browser (Firefox) hangs on refreshing the page like it's running a query that never ends. I haven't seen it do this in Internet Explorer but I don't use IE that often.
  4. I'm curious how often people are searching. Some of the searches the Soxtalk database runs are pretty big, but I wonder if people are using it often. Searches also include when you click on a user's name to view all of his/her posts. Post some reasons why you search if you do it alot.
  5. I'm kinda curious how often people are searching. I think I use the function maybe once a week or less. Poll time.
  6. Opera's version 8.50 has just released as freeware marking a huge change for the web browser/internet suite. I know alot of you are hooked on Firefox but I recommend giving Opera a try. It's probably a bit more polished a product because of its longer more rigorous development and testing history. Alot of web sites aren't built to work on Opera, but Opera is highly compliant with rising web standards and is probably in the direction of where Firefox and IE are headed. http://www.opera.com/free
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) It's not the type of hat, it's how you wear it. I wonder how come baseball players don't wear their hats backwards? Maybe because they're meant to be worn forwards? I still remember Ken Griffey Jr. winning all those homerun derbies with his hat on backwards. He really made backwards Mariners caps a cool thing with their semi-new logo. Then there came one year I think in '99 or 2000 when Sammy wore his hat backwards, and he looked like, well, Sammy.
  8. I thought that immediately after they showed that replay. So far the Indians fans reactions haven't been quite the uproar we saw after the Hunter-Burke incident. If Cleveland does miss the playoffs after this, you can bet that play will get some more attention. I still haven't found a picture of it yet but I liked this one too.
  9. I've heard of backing into the playoffs but the Padres have been going backwards almost this entire season.
  10. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) im bringing this back.... "It's Rally Crede.... he fights for us" Any photoshoppers online? I want to see Crede's reflection in Morpheus' glasses.
  11. QUOTE(The Bones @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Politte is the guy I trust most right now but I still think Jenks should be the closer. He just needs a day or two off and he'll be fine. Jay Johnston doing the Herky Jerky Dance? I love it.
  12. Disable searches by non-registered users. That's gotta be a setting somewhere that you can just turn on.

QUOTE(SmokeandMirrors @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Where have you heard that there might be an EarthBound sequel on the Revolution? The N64 version (Mother 3/EarthBound 2) was cancelled nearly 8 years ago and I haven't read or heard anything about there being a new one. Though I will admit that if there does happen to be a sequel I will probably pick up the Revolution.. I miss that RPG series. There's not, I laughed when I saw Kid Icarus on that list too.
  14. Haha, it's hard reading a thread when everyone has the same avatar. I'm not used to actually looking at the usernames.
  15. I was just thinking how funny would it be for Hawk to do an ESPN broadcast. Actually it'd probably be awkward as hell.
  16. Can't wait til we get that picture of AJ planting on Aaron Boone's back.
  17. I just caught the end of an interview where Tim Raines got shaving cream pied. Did anyone catch who did it? Some might think it's a distraction but I always thought this team got tight in September so hopefully this means they're lose.
  18. I'm sporting Rally Crede for a night. Alizee wants us to lose so she can come back.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Whether it was a good controller or not is irrevlevant. What Nintendo did was successfully master the 3D control scheme with the Joy Stick, something other companies had failed to do up until that point. Would you of liked to be playing 3d games with a D-Pad? Imagine that for second. It's relevant when you call it the "greatest achievement in video games". Joysticks have been around for a long time. Nintendo 64's joystick was nothing different, it still only allowed movement on two different axes. The real achievements in joysticks at the time allowed movements on three different axes (like the Sidewinder) for what I would consider a true 3D control scheme. Is it just because Sony copied off of Nintendo with the Dual Shock? How come the Gamecube turned the C-buttons into a very pathetic C-stick to make it a second joystick? If they copied off of Sony, would that not also make the Dual Shock a candidate for the ethereal "greatest achievement in video games"? Advances in gaming hardware are made all the time by companies including Nintendo. I'm sure you can think of more than few achievements that were greater than the N-64 controller. I honestly don't think we'd be playing 3d games with a D-Pad in 2005 even if the N64 hadn't had a joystick. Microsoft could have just as easily used a joystick based on their success in making similar hardware for 3D computer games. Mouses, trackballs and other analog peripherals used in 3D games are much more akin to a joystick than a directional pad. You asked me to imagine it but I just can't.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) ESPN "analysts" are jokes across the board. Jeff Brantley, Steve Phillips, John Kruk, Shawn Salisbury, Mark Schlareth...wow. These guys have done nothing in their careers for the mostpart. They are all washed up has beens or never was in casees like Salisbury. Why should we ever care what any of them have to say? We shouldn't Even though I'm not in favor of the doom and gloom, I have to give you props on going out and finding that avatar.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) I must be a gorilla. The N64 was my favorite system. That was in reference to the just the control pad. I can't allow a statement with qualifiers like most and greatest to be thrown around without a source or disclaimer that it's one person's opinion.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) You can have your opinion, but most consider the N64 pad the greatest achievment in video games. ??????????????????????????????? Most what? Gorillas?!?!?!!!!!!1!! Also, if you have a computer which I'm assuming you do. You can already play pretty much any NES or SNES game for free without much problem. Edit: Just found this site. A ton of old video games you can play within your browser.
  23. I'm gonna start torrenting the Sox. It's like the same episode every day.
  24. R Wow just got it in with 40 min to go.
  25. I don't really see Westbrook/Buehrle as in our favor the way Mark has been going lately, maybe a tossup at best. Mark has almost no reputation as a "big game pitcher" so he better earn his pay and sit 'em the f*** down tomorrow.
