  1. You guys beat me to it! The LEGEND lives on!
  2. Just talked to Danks. Very excited about the one-year, $6-million deal. Said there was no talk of multi-year extension, but ....the two sides are "not at the point where it’s a do or die deal. Neither side is panicking." More to come on whitesox.com per Scott Merkin PS. White Sox claim Phil Humber off waivers from the A's.
  3. Carlos Quentin agrees to 1 year $5.05 million per Rosenthal
  4. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) 7.6 million higher. 7.6 million higher from what number? Thanks for your contribution.
  5. Any one has an idea where does the payroll sit after those two signings?
  6. Any chance Royals use the money to go after Pavano?
  7. Tony Pena agreed on a 1 year $1.6M deal avoiding arbitration. per Heyman
  8. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but sounds like there was a split in the Yankees org about the signing of Soriano. Confirmed: There was a split of opinion in NYY front office on signing of Soriano. More ownership-driven deal than from baseball operations. - Buster Olney
  9. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) Cooper has said for the record that he does NOT want to have Sale change mid-season from Starter to Bullpen or vice versa. Sale may be vulnerable to injury because of the mechanics of his delivery. Why increase that chance by making him a starter, ever? http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6002831 Ohman obviously will not help against Miguel Cabrera ,Magglio Ordonez and switch hitting VMart. Hopefully Crain and Santos and maybe Pena will be enough in terms of RH relievers. I'm really tired, but in the article it doesn't say anywhere anything about 'mechanics of his delivery' albeit I do agree with Coop about (not) moving him after a month.
  10. If Ohman does indeed suck, one more reason for Sale to be in the pen.
  11. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) So who backs up Rios? Pierre, and have Teahen play left? That sounds dreadful with Quentin in RF too. Well, Lillibridge can cover some outfield too. My point was De Aza is strictly an outfielder, Lillibrigde played 6 games in CF last year.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) The Sox already have Vizquel and Teahen to play infield. If my memory serves me correctly Ozzie likes to have 2 backup IFs. I don't count Teahen as he backs up 1B/3B/LF/RF
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) I could see De Aza as a 4th outfielder, but Lillibridge's bat is about as bad as you can get. If De Aza's healthy and puts up a .320 wOBA, I would be okay with him as a 4th OFer. Lillibridge has the advantage of also being an infielder.
  14. QUOTE (3E8 @ Jan 10, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) I think Peavy looks like the bomb defuser in Hurt Locker. THIS!
  15. Rangers reportedly going hard after Jim Thome.
  16. How about Sale needs to be in the bullpen because it makes the 2011 White Sox better. This isn't project prospect, we're trying to win the World Series.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) Why the hell can't we do what the Rangers did with Feliz last year? Give him one full year in the bullpen to the advantage of the entire team, and stretch him out to start next year. Everyone acts like him pitching out of the bullpen for a year is going to f*** his entire career up beyond repair. THANK YOU.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 9, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) The offseasons going into 2005 and 2006 were much better, IMO. I wasn't here in the 2005 offseason but was it being called great before Sox won it all ?

  20. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Right but based off statistics and scouting reports, can any of those guys be good enough to contend for a spot? And also, when is Peavy set to return? Problem is nobody really knows, the pesimists keep on talking about half the season, the optimist ready to go in April. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...-impact-on-sale
  21. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Is Jordan4life a huge Jordan Danks fan? I think it's about the other Jordan, used to play baseball for Chicago White Sox, and a little basketball for the Bulls
  22. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) If he is done, is this the accurate 25-man roster? Buehrle Peavy-DL Jackson Floyd Danks Sale Bullpen: Crain, Infante, Pena, Santos, Thornton, Ohman Konerko, Beckham, Ramirez, Vizquel, Pierzynski, Pierre, Rios, Quentin, Dunn Bench: Castro, Teahen, Morel, Lillibridge, De Aza/Viciedo Would Dolsi or another reliever be good enough to make the team? That's why you have spring training, guys will battle it out for that last reliever spot.
  23. White Sox farm being thin and all, we still have few arms down there, Freddy Dolsi anybody, what's his status?
