  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) Read every thread, you'll find it somewhere. Got it.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) It seems like the Sox may try to add Tim Byrdak on a minor league deal/invite to ST. Where did ya hear that Balta?
  3. Latest from Heyman: #yankees still in on soriano. #chisox pen looks good/full now. #angels could play for sori but need hitting even more
  4. Not sure if this was posted, but supposedly Cashman said he is not willing to sacrifice Yankees numer #1 pick for Soriano.
  5. Apparently today is some kind of Brent Morel day. http://tinyurl.com/25rmatx

  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) They put doughnuts in bags now? I think a bag of baseballs got mixed up with a box of doughnuts ;>
  8. QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) I don't think anyone has justified the trade by calling Hudson "terrible", have they? I don't think you need to say Hudson was terrible in order for the trade to make sense, because it does make sense even if that is not the case. I don't think Hudson's terrible. What I do think is that the Sox absolutely needed a starter they could count on down the stretch last year, and Hudson had not shown in his 3 starts that he could be counted on. I don't care what anyone here says, if you don't think there is a great difference between knowing that you have to replace Jake Peavy in the final two months of a pennant race in Chicago versus pitching for a team with zero playoff chances, you're mistaken. I guarantee that fans would've been furious that Williams did nothing to help the rotation if Daniel Hudson was awful for them down the stretch. And just because he pitched well for Arizona, does not mean he would have pitched well here in this situation. I hope Hudson does well in his career and he just might. Good for him. But, I also have to say that if you have ever assigned the phrase "...but he did it in the NL" when talking about Peavy, you may not praise Hudson without attaching the phrase to him as well. on these boards? Kenny has been already called an 'idiot' and 'terrible' isn't the worst this trade has been called. Agree with your post 100%, well said.
  9. QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Konerko doesn't agree with you. He thinks it absolutely helped him stay healthy and productive. And if he thinks it helped him, then it helped him. He must be ecstatic about the Dunn signing, not only it brings another 1B, a bag of doughnuts, protection in the lineup, but an ON-BASE plus SLUGGING north of .900.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 6, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) Beckham on Twitter. Don't do it, Gordon. http://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/23075410036137984 HELL YES!
  11. In a perect world you trade Teahen for a reliever, and for whatever Salary you were able to shed you sign Andruw Jones.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Jones would take the place of De Aza/Lillibridge if he signed, and he makes perfect sense there. Also, I am not 100% sure Teahen is with the team on Opening Day. Of course if Sox get rid of Teahen than it's a different ball game. Lillibridge possibly gives you a backup at all 3B/SS/2B/OF. With a bench of Castro, Vizquel, Teahen, Jones/De Aza, you only have 1 backup at 2B/SS, not sure Ozzie goes with a bench like that.
  13. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) I never thought having Jones and De Aza on our bench are mutually exclusive. Most teams carry two back up OF's and I expect the White Sox to be the same, especially given the fact that CQ will get hurt. So if Jones signs somewhere else then we need two OF back ups, but a backup OF brigade of Jones and De Aza together would be pretty good. Mark Teahen, Ramon Castro, Omar Vizquel already under contract for 2011. Leaves one spot on the bench. Actually the more I think about it, there really isn't no place on this team for Andruw Jones, and possibly Brent Lillibridge makes more sense than De Aza.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 03:26 AM) Well, that's why I said "decent reliever" and not Soriano. Soriano and Jones are not equals. Soriano is very good, and will cost premium. Jones, however, is pretty decent, and shouldn't cost more than $2-$3M. And he put up almost a 2 WAR in only 107 games, which is worth about $7.4M on the market. A 2 WAR is something De Aza has never come close to, and probably won't ever achieve in his career. Same for Lillibridge. Jones can play all 3 OF positions, and play them well, while offering above average speed and good power. De Aza is below average defensively, with above average speed, and a below average bat. Jones is vastly superior, and even if he costs $2M-$3M, I think he is worth it. ALLLLLLL of this being said, I want a good reliever over everything, so if it's one or the other, I'll take the reliever, but I'd really like to have Jones back. Well De Aza hasn't really had a chance to prove himself yet. But I'm not gonna argue which one of them two is better. In reply to the question: Do Sox have interest in Anruw Jones - I don't think they do. If they did, he would have been resigned already. They brought Omar back as soon as they had a chance. Andruw is close firends with Ozzie and the Guilliens. His agent is Scott Boras and Andruw went around his agent to come play or Ozzie last year. He played for minimum money so can reestablish himself and sign a decent contract in 2011. He did just that, and now he is looking to get paid. I don't think Sox are gonna be the ones paying Andruw. I'd like to have him back also, because he is a great alternative to Quentin in RF and like you said, tremendous defense and can play all three OF positions. However I think Sox will finally give De Aza a chance.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 03:04 AM) .................... And Infante/Carter would make the minimum too, doesn't mean we shouldn't try and find a decent reliever on the market. I don't see your point, as Jones is much better than both. We should go ahead and sign Soriano then, oh wait, the Sox can't afford it. I think De AZA will do a fine job as a 4th OF.
  16. We have two guys who make minimum in De Aza and Lillibridge.
  17. Buster/ESPN Deportes reporting Beltre deal is geting close.
  18. My guess - Heyman trying to do Ozzie (Oney) a favor.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Rex Ryans foot fetish has nothing to do with the Jets. Twice Oney has taken to twitter and has made embarrassing situations for the White Sox and his father. I dont expect Ozzie to be fired, but at some point you would think that he would go to his son and ask him to stop this nonsense And what makes you think that he hasn't?
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) Except Bobby kept it professional, he was b****ing about on the field stuff. Oney came right back with ultra personal information. What the f*** ever happened to the high road? I agree that Oney went over the line, and he should keep his mouth shut! I disagree that Bobby kept it professional. Everyone here wanted Ozzie gone because he kept sending Jenks up there last season remember? Now Bobby tells media Ozzie doesn't know how to run a bullpen! Hypocrite!
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Thats not what happened. Oney knows this stuff first hand, he's been close to Bobby for years. Exactly! As far as Bobby goes, 'dont throw stones if you live in a glass house'
  22. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) Unless Oney tweets about it, of course.... Not defending Oney, however after last year's fiasco I remember him tweeting that he won't be talking/tweeting criticizing the White Sox any more and pretty much kept that promise. His tweets in the second half of the season weren't much different from the likes of a casual fan.. he is the skippers son however and always will be perceived that way.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) For one, he should publicly denounce Oney and everything that he tweeted. Then he should address his entire team and let them know how something like this will never happen again. I don't think the first one happens, as Oney is an adult and he can tweet whatever he wants. I assume Oney hasn't learned any of this in a dinner conversation, but while being in the clubhouse when he was younger. As far as the team talk, even if it happens we probably won't know about it.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) Yes over this. The Guillen family is nothing but a circus show. I'm embarrassed that he's our manager and he's not even good at that. And I'm thoroughly convinced that Ozzie could pull an O.J. on his wife and you'd still think he should manage this team. I understand that you hate Ozzie and want him gone. Oney Guillen is a 25 year old human being, what's Ozzie susposse to do, bend him over a knee and give him a spanking?
