  1. They should accept the $2.5 mil team option for next year as it's a steal, and then sign him to a multi year deal next year. EDIT: Merkin says it's a $2.75 mil team option and Sox have until Dec 15th to accept.
  2. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) SOA was great IMO. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) HELL YES FOR THAT FINALE
  3. Even if he was/is gonna stay with the White Sox he was not going to accept arbitration. This should not be a surprise to anyone, he is looking for a 2-3 year deal.
  4. Any chance Kenny is waiting on what happens with Konerko/AJ to decide which direction Sox organization will be going next year?
  5. cst_sox cst_sox Getting the feeling that it's going to be a long winter for Sox fans - think "The Kids Can Play II.''
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) Decisions required by PK14 and Putz by midnight tonight, so we should hear something today. We can expect both players declining, as they both are seeking multi-year deals.
  7. All I want for Christmas is some defense at 3B, let's not forget last year..
  8. From Rosenthal's new column, stuff on AJ, and possible new player in The Konerko sweepstakes.
  9. On a different note what are the chances Paulie accepts arbitration?
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) He doesn't fit them at all. They're looking for OBP guys or guys who can at least crack the .300 OBP mark. That's not really Olivo. What other catchers are there available?
  11. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Really? A 33 year old catcher with a .688 OPS? QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 04:04 PM) AJP for 7-8 million would have been an atrocious contract. I'm happy to see them looking elsewhere or trying to get him for cheaper. Sums up my feelings. Let's not forget Sox are doing AJ a favor to test the free market and if he doesn't find a job he can come back and sign with the Sox 2/7mil or something like that.
  12. MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Sox offer arb. to Konerko, Putz, decline to AJ. Scott Reifert Salary arb offered to PK and Putz by #WhiteSox; declined to AJ and Manny. Team can keep negotiating with all free agents.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 11:07 AM) The latest reports seem to indicate he has in fact signed with the Tigers? Heyman tweeted 18 minutes ago that they are closing in on a deal, not yet official.
  14. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) ??? And Dunn does? Does he not? One of the best defensive DH available. Joking of course. But hey, the White Sox have many needs, starting catcher being one of them, designated hitter/backup 1B being the other. I think what the poster had in mind is that Victor Martinez is not a catcher because of his defense, while Dunn could play 1B on a decent level?
  15. Any chance SOX just bluffed to get the price up so Tigers can sign Martinez but lose out on Dunn ? PS. Is Victor Martinez a Scott Boras Client?
  16. Victor Martinez on the verge on signing with the Tigers. Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Serrano reports that Martinez's deal with Tigers will be for four years, $50 million, and that team outbid #RedSox, #WhiteSox, #Orioles,
  17. Man, after a big hot stove opening day, this has been a rather slow week in the White Sox/MLB offseason.
  18. So did Castro and Benoit, great list just needs updating/crossin out signed players like in the past.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 02:11 PM) If you actually believe that this team will be the same after the winter meetings, then I think you are naive. When stats and scouting agree that Quentin is terrible, then I think it is probably your judgment that is wrong. Just because he catches standard fly balls does not make him a good fielder. Not at all, in fact I believe that most of the stuff Kenny says/leaks to media is well..strategy. I expect him to have a busy offseason.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) There is no reason Dunn couldn't play 1st decently enough. In fact Dunn has made it clear more than once that he wants to play the field and not DH only.
