  1. New BA mock.... "5. White Sox — JJ Wetherholt, SS, West Virginia A lack of playing time thanks to a hamstring injury hurt Wetherholt’s draft stock. Since he’s been back in West Virginia’s lineup he’s been the exact player he was expected to be entering the season. Wetherholt is a career .376/.500/.663 hitter with West Virginia and his underlying batted ball data is remarkably similar to Travis Bazzana’s. Bazzana has done a better job pulling the ball in the air to capitalize on his power, but I’m not sure there’s a significant raw power difference between the two. The biggest separator for Wetherholt is the fact that he’s actively playing shortstop. That gives him a chance for the best defensive value of any of the top six college hitters in the class and if there’s a thought that his hit/power combo is as good as Bazzana’s, why couldn’t he fit at the very top of the class?"
  2. I feel like we're often on the same page with draft prospects that we covet. I did see that our guy Jakson Reetz was playing the Majors recently with the Giants. We both really wanted the Sox to get him in the 3rd RD when they took Jace Fry instead. That was 2014! 10 years ago!
  3. Cags to the Sox?? ?? Man that would be sweet. I wonder if he has a chance to move to RF?
  4. Maybe if they save $500K+ by taking Konnor Griffin at #5, they could pass those savings along to Nate George later. ??‍♂️
  5. Had Pedro thought about pinch running Shewmake 1 pitch earlier, the Sox would be up 4-1 on that Ramos flyball. Asleep at the wheel. Let's see how large that 1 run looms....
  6. I got to watch Cags today in person. He didn't have much command on his FB. Topped out at like 96. Mostly sat around 94. I feel like he threw it only 50% of the time today. Control wasn't great but he was throwing a nasty change-up at like 74 mph. Thing was fluttering and got a lot of swings and misses on it. Looks like he snapped off some nice sliders too. Maybe a curveball as well? I'm not totally sure what pitches he throws, just going off what I could tell from my angle. Also this happened..... ? Was definitely thrown at, the next pitch he swung out of his shoes at an off-speed pitch and got laughed at by the LSU crowd. Then the next pitch he smashed a no-doubter oppo and razzed the crowd a bit. It was pretty great.
  7. Damn that's why I was afraid of I just couldn't remember if that changed.
  8. Did the Giants signing Snell actually move us up a spot in the draft to #68 or were we already there prior to the signing? I couldn't remember if Snell cost the Giants their 2nd RD pick or just their 3rd since they already signed Chapman. ?
  9. When you're picking top 5, you can't get cute like that. Take best available and then go position player heavy with picks 2-5 if you really feel the need.
  10. For those freaking out about Thorpe, a Padres fan said their their stadium gun has been off by 4-5 MPH this spring. That would make Thorpe's reported 88-89 MPH fast yesterday actually like 92-94. That's a lot more in like with what he's been. Also another note on Thorpe, Fangraphs actually things Thorpe will be better then Cease in 2024 given a similar amount of IP. I don't think this trade was a fleecing, but I think it was realistic and fair. Of course we loved to dream on fleecing one of these clubs but the closer we got to Opening Day, the more risk involved in holding Cease until July. I'm satisfied with this move even if they decided to diversify their risk across 3 good prospects vs just getting 1 headliner and a couple of throw ins.
  11. If the Padres are involved I would love to see OF Jakob Marsee as a tertiary piece in a deal. He's got some helium right now.
  12. One of my good friends is a Yankees fan. Says he doesn't want Cease. He's only a #4 starter. He would rather Will Warren take Cole's spot. Said all he would offer the Sox is Rizzo. ?? Also said he would rather face Cease than have him on his team. He is totally delusional.

  14. Goes directly against Harold saying it's NOT the Rangers, so at least we can s%*# on SOMEONE! ?
  15. I'm not corroborating this, I'm just sharing it. I haven't heard anything myself.
  16. To be fair to Guff, he did break the return of SoxFest news before anyone else, and that is possibly why the Sox had to randomly announce it themselves instead of revealing it at the Season Ticket holders event they held like the next day.
  17. You have no idea who the top 100 prospect could be, or the rest? What if it's Cowser, Bradfield, McDermott, and Povich? That would be a helluva return and technically fit the scenario Guff laid out. There is no reason to get upset with such a broad framework of a rumored trade.
  18. I'm really hoping Cease got scratched tonight, most just because it might indicate a trade, but if they are deep into discussions with anyone the Sox should take all precautions and protect their asset. If he pitches tonight then that would indicate to me that nothing is close.
  19. I'll be seeing Cags pitch in person in 2 weeks when Florida takes on LSU.
  20. With the Giants signing Matt Chapman to a *potential* 1 year deal (opt outs), I wonder if they might want to go all-in on Cease with Beck out now. ?
  21. I'm taking a vacation to Louisiana in 3 weeks and we are trying to go see LSU vs Florida on Sunday 3/24. Apparently Jac Caglianone is their Sunday starter. I'm really hoping we can go, but tickets are expensive considering I'm the only baseball fan in the group.
  22. Why is "Cubs Pitch Lab" capitalized as if it exists? Who exactly have the Cubs developed recently? Justin Steele....and...?
  23. Bellinger only got $80M. ? I love seeing Boras overplay his hand.
  24. They dealt the prospects they wanted to deal....BEFORE they knew the severity of the injuries to Braddish and Means. Now they are short in the rotation. Of course the new ownership SHOULD just go out and grab Montgomery or Snell instead of trading from their top prospects, but until we see them willing to drop a big bag like that I will assume the Orioles should be far more motivated to include one of those top guys than they were a week ago.
