The thing that scares me is that if we get to Wednesday and Manny still hasn't signed, which it seems like his agent doesn't want to do anyway, for obvious reasons, then this whole amazing pitch could be for nothing. Phillies or Yankees could suddenly up their offer or have some shit up their sleeve to sway him. I wish my scoop was that he had signed a deal, but it's not, so as excited as I am about this, it may end up being for naught.

Well, was that episode recorded today? I texted Dave the scoop earlier today, so he may have just been repeating what I gave him. Which would not make it a confirmation, just an echo, because at the time when we talked today he said he hadn't heard anyone that corroborated the info. EDIT: Listening to it now. The agent was pushing to fulfill these other 2 meetings, but it's not JUST for the agents behalf because what if NY or Philly suddenly outbid the Sox? I am willing to guess if he was wanting to sign today, it means the Sox either met their asking price, or are the highest bidder. That can obviously change with these next 2 meetings.

His next meeting isn't until Wednesday in NY. So his choices were to either stay here until Wednesday, or go to NY early. He isn't going to go home to Miami for 1 day and then go to NY the next day. It's good news that he is choosing to spend his extra day here and not in NY.

True, but being the 1st team to meet with him, and have him in the city for 3 days gives is a chance for him to daydream about playing for us and for our guys to reach out him and show him a good time.

I'd dead serious. I would imagine if it's true about then taking the other 2 meetings only out of respect and for his agents benefit, then I would just guess he could sign as early as Friday or Saturday.

I can confirm this. My source says Manny's agent was pushing to fulfill their meetings with NY and Philly this week, out of respect for their teams and keeping a relationship for his agent, but seems like Manny was wanting to sign today. I have never been more confident in the Sox signing either of these guys than I am now after talking with my source. Yankees and Phillies meetings could obviously change that if they slam dunk it, but I think it's happening you guys.
