  1. So far, not much to like with LaRoche.
  2. I really hate playing the Royals
  3. I don't get it - Flowers is a catcher, he knows that they're going to call for a s***ty offspeed pitch in the dirt after he just flailed wildly at a s***ty offspeed pitch in the dirt. Can he just not recognize pitches or what?
  4. Wow Courtney Hawkins. Solo bomb to center.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 03:52 PM) I don't think he said Baez would be great at all, but when you are going head to head against Beckham/Bonifacio you wouldn't rather see how this kid with massive power potential does? I'd rather have Baez there too.Beckham/Bonifacio don't figure to be the starter, though. Johnson/Sanchez are a better bet, with Beckham/Bonifacio being utility players.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) That's fair but I think if you include Adam LaRoche as a "bench" player than I don't see how you give the edge to the cubs there. I also do not care really, as the Cubs are not in the White Sox division. But there's risk in the cubs projections that aren't acknowledged. You've seen the Sox position player flaws, but you assume Soler will have a smooth transition. Or that Baez is going to be great after hitting .160 with a million strikeouts
  7. Games are streaming starting at 4:30 CST on Watch ESPN, and should be on ESPN Deportes as well: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/#type/upcomin...l/espndeportes/
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/i...sox-versus-cubs Your thoughts? I think his concerns about the White Sox holes are valid, but the overall theme was "oh man all these Cubs prospects are going to be soooooo awesome immediately", which is just silly. Overall, biased garbage from an obvious Cubs fan.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) White Sox 12th. First top-half finish in a long time. But we cannot be putting in large parts of the article here. People can summarize in their own words, or do little quotes or snippets. But we can't go pasting large parts of billable content here. Yeah, I understand that, which is why I mentioned a summary of the Sox + the ranking list. I figured that would be ok.
  10. The Cubs are ranked #1 Anyone have insider that can list the rankings, and maybe summarize his description of the Sox?
  11. Wanted to find John Rooney's call, but the MLB website is atrocious and doesn't load older media properly.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 09:51 AM) If Flowers puts up a .791 ops for the year, I will not eat my hat but we will have one of the better catchers in baseball on our team in 2015. Not happening.I also doubt it's going to happen, but the point of my post was (in a limited sample size) he was WAY better than I expected. Maybe there's still some hope for him?
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 09:34 AM) Just let Flowers do his thing. Brantly will be a serviceable backup. I mean, I'd take a flyer on Castro if it didn't cost much, but that is unlikely. AJP though? C'mon now. It was only 163 PA, but Flowers had a .280/.337/.553/.891 slash line in the second half last year. Even if his OPS is .100 points lower, he would still be a valuable catcher. Let's hope his magic glasses continue helping him.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) Great post and I agree. We also still have significant chips to buy at some of the key positions where we might not have internal candidates (e.g. 3B / C). I also think that my overall view becomes much more positive if we are able to land Shark to a contract.Agreed. Losing Semien could really hurt, especially since we're relatively weak at second base (for now - one of Saladino/Sanchez/Johnson could fill in nicely, but I don't have much faith right now in any of them). If we don't resign Samardzija, I feel like this trade is a definite loss. Of course, this assumes Semien reaches the potential he showed late last year and in the minors.

  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:12 PM) I would turn into a giant gorilla and climb buildings, beating them repeatedly until they were destroyed and crumbled to the ground.Sign me up for Ryan Howard, then! I'll take "Adam Dunn, but worse" for the prospect of a giant gorilla terrorizing North Dakota.
  17. Anyone still playing Destiny on PS4? Got a 28 Hunter and a 26 Titan. Gamertag is al_magest.
  18. I lurked here for a long time (and WSI, but ehhhhhhhhhh) before creating an account, so I remember Ncorgbl. He was the one who used to call Bartolo Colon "tub of goo", and treat it like it was the best insult ever, right?
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) After yesterday, Garcia now has 168 PAs, the same amount of PAs he had last year with the Sox. 2013: .304/.327/.446/.775 - 5 HR 21 RBI - OPS+ 109 - 38/5 K/BB 2014: .267/.333/.460/.793 - 7 HR 27 RBI - OPS+ 122 - 40/14 K/BB So 12 hr 48 rbi OPS+ ~ 115 over 1/2 a season essentially? I'll take that as our starting right fielder any day.
  20. I thought this was interesting from today's Keith Law chat: Isn't Greg Walker still there?
  21. Jeff has been a league-average pitcher since joining Oakland, which is closer to his career stats than his time with the Cubs. I think at this point you can assume the first half of this year was an outlier. He's not gonna be worth a huge contract.
  22. Dylan Axelrod shutting down the Cubs so far
  23. Baez's first at-bat is a strikeout.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 4, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) And they would demand he gets traded for a closer Addison Reed.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 03:29 PM) They can't go on a run. I think their longest winning streak is 4.Hard to go on sustained runs when you have the giant starting pitching holes we have had all season.
