8/13- Sox/Astros Doubleheader, 3:40
Today is “Young Alex” Fernandez’s 50th birthday. On the day Dylan Cease pitches, a note about Alex’s 1990- he was drafted in June and called up in August. Between college and pro ball, he threw 258 innings in his Age 20 season. Sure, he was bleh in 91 and 92, but he had a nice five year run 1993-97, won a ring with the Marlins and made 45 mil before his 30 birthday.

There will be a 26th man (Ruiz) for Game 2. Myles Straw is the Astros 26th.

I could be wrong, but I thought if the doubleheader is the next day after the rainout, they don't use a 26th man because of the quick travel turnaround. At least it used to be that way.

And then a day game Wednesday. It could be three losses in about a 25 hour period.- Lunes No Beisbol
- 2020 Schedule
September is no picnic either with the exception of the Royals and Tigers series. It really could set up for a decent record going into August, and then a gradual fade away. But stuff happens- bad teams become good (hopefully us); good teams get injured and play bad. But yeah, the last two months will be challenging.- 2020 Schedule
Sox play 63 games before they play the Tigers, then play them 16 out of 45 games, then not again until they finish the season in Detroit. All in all, it's not a terrible schedule. Only one 3-city trip. Weather? You never know. Hopefully some of the teams the Sox face, they have a lot of shared off days just in case.- Ozney Guillen next budding star manager?

- SoxTalk fan pulse: How far away are the Sox from competing?
Agreed, the roster should look a lot more competitive next year. Let’s start with watchable in 2020, then win 90+ in 2021.- SoxTalk fan pulse: How far away are the Sox from competing?
The Sox are on pace for around 180 homers this season. The average AL playoff team will hit 240+. So if they’re sticking with the same ball, start there. 2021 makes much more sense to compete than 2020. Maybe they have a good season next year and finish .500, but they won’t make the playoffs next year.- 8/5 | Sox @ Tigers | Gio vs Turnbull | 6:10PM CT
