Banner night for base running.

July 8th Game Thread: White Sox @ Colorado Rockies
Reds are up 5-0, and the Sox would move to the 3-spot with a loss, but this is a good win if they get it.

Oh well. Hopefully the scouts saw what they wanted to see.

A clean 6th inning would be great. Put up a quality start and call it a night.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 04:07 PM) Yea but imagine the Gronk points they'd get. I had to google...ha. Sox move into the 3rd slot with a loss, and Reds and Padres wins today.

2017 AL Central Catch all thread
Francona had a heart procedure yesterday, and will miss the AS Game. Should return next Friday. Also, only 12 teams are currently over .500. Three are from the AL Central.

QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 09:13 AM) I feel like Brinson would all but be off the table. Brewers get: Jose Quintana White Sox get: Corey Ray, Brett Phillips, Trent Clark and Monte Harrison. Who says no? I don't know who says no, but Brett Phillips thinks it's hilarious.

Funny, both teams had basically the same records they have ten years later.

Chris Sale 2016 vs 2017
Just saw Sale bang the side of his head with a ball. But hey, double digit Ks and that's all that matters.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) No way, the Giants and Phillies got the top 2 spots on lock. I'd like to see who is left on the White Sox and Giants rosters on August 1st before ruling the Sox out of the 2-spot. Fangraphs still has the Giants winning 71 games and the Sox 68 games. As long as the Sox don't get to 70 wins, I'll be happy with whatever draft position they get--unless they get to 69 by sweeping the Indians the final weekend, and it costs them a spot or two.

Padres -Phillies this weekend. If the Sox get swept in Colorado, decent chance they'll be 3rd at the break.

The hell they calling up Moncada? THE THREAD
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) I would not mind keeping Moncada in the minors until next June or so to gain additional control. It's not as if he could not use some more time in the minors before being moved to the majors full time. His defense still needs work and another few months in the minors can't hurt him. We have to remember he only recently turned 22 years old and we have no reason to rush him up and burn service time on a rebuilding club. While all true, I highly doubt this will happen. This team could look drastically different on August 1st, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Moncada gets two full months with the Sox this year.

The Sox are 2 games away from being the 3rd pick, and 2 games the other way from being the 10th pick. Off day in Denver. 95 degrees. Maybe go for a hike?

July 5th Game Thread: White Sox at Oakland A's
Doolittle was wasting one high and Frazier swung hard and hit it out. Trade value, baby. 1-5 vs Oakland could be one of the best things to come from this season.

All Star Game No Longer Determines Home Field in WS
How homefield advantage should be determined... Eliminate divisions in leagues. Play a close to balanced schedule Top 5 teams in each league make the playoffs Top seed gets HFA regardless of win total. So if a 2-seed has 92 wins in the AL, and a 3-seed in the NL has more, it still goes to the AL. If it's the same seed and win total, then some other tie breaker would need to be implemented.

All Star Game No Longer Determines Home Field in WS
It was always a bad rule to determine home field advantage. Glad it's ended. That said, I think this will be by far, the lowest rated all star game-- but it won't be because of the change back.
