Cool, get to see Danish Wednesday night.

He probably would have been better off saying he was born in 1923--which he very could have been. 1951-1961, he was the 2nd best AL offensive player, possibly at age 27-37. He so deserves to be in the Hall, and it's another sad case of a player dying before he goes in. RIP Minnie.

I'm just going to assume he's missing 4 starts 4-6 at KC 4-12 vs Min 4-18 at Det 4-23 vs KC

2014-2015 MLB off season player movement and rumors thread

Melvin Upton will begin the season on the DL. That worked. -
QUOTE (Douglas Rome @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) my original thought got lost in the rhetoric, can a manager impose appearance code? The owner/boss wants some semblance of class befitting an elite member of society. It was many many years ago we were staying at the Drake hotel downtown and the Pistons were in town and staying there. Those guys looked and dressed like they took pride in their game and team and not like a bunch of slobs. If I was manager, as long as you had a uniform on, clean shaven, no jewelry, short hair GI cut preferred. When not in uniform you still had a code when in public. I know members here will say as long as they perform, they can look like clowns is okay, not the point. thanks, douglas I think Ventura had Sale "clean up" his beard. Crede and Pierzynski had to get haircuts, but I think that came from Reinsdorf. Ozuna lost the dreads. I'm not saying I would force anything, but I don't like jewerly, visible tattoos, long hair, out of control beards, baggy pants down to the shoes. But, it's 2015, and that's just the way it is now.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 10:13 AM) He is on the score right now, really good stuff. He is very much into analyzing pitchers and their tells, and he thinks Eaton is gonna be the goods Sounds like a good hire by Kenny. Their kids went to school together in Scottsdale. -

Spring Training TV broadcast and Internet streaming schedule up
flavum replied to thegringokid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Quintana starting the spring opener next week. Tape delay on MLBN at night. https://twitter.com/ESPNChiSox/status/571036246576902144 -
Johnson, because he was on the fast track last year. He would have been up in September, and I don't think they're going to hold that against him as long as he plays well enough in spring. This is just what I think is happening. Personally, I've seen very little of Micah Johnson play, so I'm looking forward to seeing him get regular at bats starting next week.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) Man the Sox are ridiculously loyal to their scrubs. They got BA and Mitchell in camp this spring. Personally I don't get it, but if it makes them look better for potential FAs, great. Anderson is in minor league camp. You may see him late in a spring training game, but he's not there to make the 25-man.

Baseball Commish Manfred open to discussing length of schedule
flavum replied to thegringokid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) Just play the first 8 games at the home of warm weather or domed teams. Less weather issues and no lack of revenue. It really doesn't matter though. Weather can be just as bad on March 31st as it can be on April 14th. The first 8 of 10 series are in the division for every team. And that's probably by design so there are more opportunities to make up games later on. -

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 11:17 AM) I see your point (and I feel like we talked about this before!) but that just feels like too much of an F.U. to the regular season. 154 games and best-of-7 series wouldn't suddenly restore order to the world, but it's at least a little better. The schedule is definitely one of my baseball pet peeves. Now if only they would eliminate divisions too, then we'd have something... -

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) Too short! What's the point of playing a marathon 162-game season if the far-more-prestigious playoff winner is only determined after 3 wins? It's a small sample no matter what. Making the World Series the only best-of-7 makes it more prestigious. And in my opinion, get winning, or go home. -

flavum replied to thegringokid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd start the season on a Thursday, and end the season on a Wednesday night with 15 games being played simultaneously. Postseason: Play-In Wildcard Game Division Series and LCS both best-of-5, and World Series best-of-7 Game 7 of the World Series 28 days after the end of the season. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) I don't understand why that's self-evidently good, though. Weather is about the only one that makes sense to me. Ok, then go with "just weather" then. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Why? Because of tradition, weather, length of the postseason. They should be able to finish a baseball season before the month of Thanksgiving and the first snow.
