  1. Memba when batting average mattered? 9 AL batters are hitting over .300, and two of them are Abreu and Eaton. Gillaspie still 10th at .293. Abreu and Eaton are 5th and 10th in OBP.
  2. And here is the man we've been waiting for for 4 hours and 17 minutes.
  3. Wilkins is going to be a guy you forget in about two years. "Oh yeah, that guy that came up after Dunn was traded."
  4. Run-producing Conor Gillaspie. Like it.
  5. With the expanded rosters, you should have to declare a 12-man pitching staff that includes the four previous games starters. So basically, a 7-man pen declared each day. Or a 25-man roster each day that includes the four previous starters.
  6. How does Wilkins take his coffee? Because this is going to be it for him...in my opinion.
  7. Kurt Suzuki double to tie it off Nathan.
  8. JD Martinez 3-run homer with 2 outs. Tigers got this division.
  9. Glen Perkins trying to blow Nolasco's 8 shutout innings.
  10. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/5119738...5201792/photo/1 Sale pitches tomorrow night...so there's that.
  11. Over the last 12 games, if the Sox are two games worse than the Cubs, Red Sox, and Astros, they'll probably have the 5th worst record. 5-7, 6-6, or 7-5 probably keeps them in their same neighborhood. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/group/9/sort/winPercent
  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 12:57 PM) RotY is a mortal lock, but I can't squint and see any argument that he's been better than Mike Trout for MVP. Their production is close to identical offensively, but one is a plus baserunner and plays CF. It's pretty cut-and0dried. It is frustrating that we have two guys who are top-3 type contenders for the best two awards but that really they aren't going to and shouldn't win. But try to look at it in a positive way -- we have two ELITE players. How about the Sox make a splash this winter, go out and win 92 next season, and sweep the awards--Cy, MVP, ROY, Mgr, Exec? That would be fun.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2014 -> 12:45 PM) Jose Abreu very well should win Rookie of the Year and MVP. Trout will win. Abreu will be top 5.
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 15, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) Eh, no reason to push him. He did well to come back from the muscle strain and put up a Cy Young caliber season. Let him make a couple more starts and give the other one to bassitt or hell even Noesi or something. If Carroll has a broken fingernail or whatever, they should just finish it out with Danks, Bassitt, Sale, Quintana, and Noesi. I really don't care if Sale makes two or three starts, but my point is if they want to give Sale three starts, they can without pitching him on short rest. It didn't seem like Ventura was even aware of that.
  15. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/5116139...9359744/photo/1 Jayson Nix will pull a homer just inside the pole.
  16. The follow up question should have been: Will he start on the 17th, 22nd or 23rd, and the 28th? He doesn't have to pitch on short rest to get 3 more starts.
  17. Buehrle 6 innings 4 rune. 188 innings in his 30th start.
  18. One of the better Sox stories this year. You can count on him next year and feel pretty good about it.
  19. Buehrle starting today. Looks like they moved him up, which makes me wonder if they'll let him pitch on final day of the season on three days rest if he comes up a couple innings short of 200 in his last few starts.
