QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 4, 2014 -> 10:50 AM) Brace yourself for a KC - STL World Series Don Denkinger should throw out the first pitch. I'm enjoying the Royals play. Speed kills, and their bullpen is what you need.

James Shields
QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 30, 2014 -> 10:26 PM) I was never a fan of shields. so in all honesty I really can't gage on not wanting him on the sox. is it age? salary? yrs? To me, he's a right handed Buehrle. Lots of innings, which is great. He makes his starts. But going into his age 33 season, who knows how long that can last. I don't see a fit with the Sox if he's looking to break the bank.

James Shields
I wouldn't give him 4 years at his age. I'd rather have Bassitt hold a spot until Rodon is ready. Sox need to think bullpen a lot more than starting pitching.

Hopefully Angels-Orioles ALCS. Tigers-A's and Giants-Cardinals would suck balls.

Sale vs. Ventura
Sale didn't handle himself very well last week. He's a good guy, but he messed up. It happens.

Robin Ventura played his last game for the Sox 16 years ago today, and hit a homer off the Royals Tim Belcher. 45 days later the Sox traded Mike Cameron for Paul Konerko.

QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Sep 26, 2014 -> 11:49 PM) Is there a tie-breaker game? I thought if it ended in a tie Detroit wins the division because of the head-to-head record vs. KC? They'll play a 163 if there is a tie. The season series just decides where they play it.

Paul Konerko Appreciation Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2014 -> 11:06 AM) One of my favorite personal PK favorites was the game against the Cubs where were down early something like 7 or 8 runs really early. The Cub fans just owned the park at that point. Then the Sox scored like 13 runs and won the game, and just destroyed every single Cub fan in the building and around the city. Ditto

Rangers just won. Diamondbacks pretty much have the 1st pick locked up.

It's about that time of the year again...
QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 24, 2014 -> 10:03 PM) So with the loss tonight and subsequent wins by the Cubs and Philly, do we move up to the 9th pick in front of Philly? What's the tiebreaker, inter league record? Last year's record is the tie breaker. Sox magic number for a protected pick is 2 over the Marlins and 1 over the Padres. Sox will pick 9th, 10th, or 11th.

AL Wildcard Race
Royals lost KC 86-72 (4 at Sox) Oak 86-72 (4 at Tex) Sea 83-75 (1 at Tor, 3 vs LAA) Cle 83-76 (off, 3 vs TB) Tigers AL Central Magic Number is 3. They play four in Minnesota. Royals should probably celebrate when they clinch the WC, but they'll be playing hard to host the A's. Royals hold the tie-breaker over the A's.

AL Wildcard Race
A's lost. Mariners lost. Tigers clinched at least a wildcard. 5-4 Indians over Royals, top 6
