New Look Inside The Cell
The US Cellular money has done a lot of good things for the Sox. I wouldn't want to see giant corporate logos on the uniform--that's where I'd draw the line.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) Doug Padilla @ESPNChiSox 38m Sale doesn't want to step on anybody's toes, but thinks Konerko should start the opener. Says he's earned it. Happy 25th birthday to Chris Sale. 230 innings, please.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) As of now, I'd go for his top 2 HS pitchers or the Vandy pitcher. I'm never going to have a strong opinion on who they should take, but it would be pretty bold if they took a HS pitcher. If they think a HS kid has the best arm, and they think they can mold him into a big league pitcher over the next 3-4 years, go for it. Or Beede.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) Right. Shame on Ventura for giving one of the greatest White Sox in franchise history a chance to be recognized on one last opening day by his fans. What was he thinking. They all line up and get introduced before the game. He will get his ovation. Ventura and the organization are just covering their butts. If they don't say publicly that they offered him the start, then they get criticized. They covered all the bases, so as not to look cold. Konerko is smarter than all of them.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 11:29 AM) Classy moves by both Ventura for recognizing what Konerko has meant to this organization, and Konerko for being willing to step aside, unlike many over the hill stars. Or shame on Ventura for putting Konerko in that position to have to say no...but whatever. This should have never been a topic. Konerko had it right all along.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Really hope Viciedo gets the nod. The dude can hit. I don't get why he hasn't gotten the job yet, he only went 14/56 last year due to injuries and he went 25/78 in his only full season. I look forward to his two hot weeks in May, and general awfulness the rest of the time...with below-average defense.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 30, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) Sounds like PK actually benched himself. Good job, Paul! You're right. Forget what I said about Robin. https://twitter.com/DanHayesCSN/status/450293247252783104 It's pretty simple for Konerko---start against lefties, pinch hit, come in during mop-up time, fill in for a couple days when Abreu or Dunn have a minor injury. Hopefully it's about 40 starts, and some other playing time for about 200 plate appearances.

63 and cloudy for first pitch. Remember that year Chris Sale threw a no-hitter on Opening Day? Still think they'll call off Wednesday's game early...like Tuesday night. No point in playing if the forecast is high 30's and rain. And yes, they should completely skip Paulino until the first game in Denver, where it's supposed to be in the 60's...so the Sox are going to dodge the weather bullet in Colorado.

2014 Other Predictions
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 28, 2014 -> 01:45 PM) Last year, the Sox were 40-60, and scored 377 runs in the first 100 games. Record and runs scored after 100 games? 48-54 with 407 runs Do you mean 48-52 or 46-54? Or neither?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 11:34 AM) F*ck this weather. Just looked at the forecast for KC next weekend. It will be 79 and sunny tomorrow. Next weekend looks 50's and cloudy, and maybe rain on Sunday (still far away). Denver looks warm enough, but also rain possible after that. The team will just have to deal with it, but it makes it harder when you have to overachieve to compete.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Mar 29, 2014 -> 09:25 AM) Let's sweep the twins! Very excited for the season. I know we won't be that good, but for the first time I see us in a good direction. Hope we hit home runs in the draft. If the Sox have any chance of contending, the Twins are a team they're going to have to pummel....like 14-5. Looks like the weather for Monday will be fine. Cloudy and 60 at game time. I'd bet Wednesday will get called off, and it will turn into an August 1st doubleheader.

Thompson easy triple on a ball hit in the LCF gap. Hopefully he puts it together for five months, not just here and there. Keenyn Walker started a nice relay play too. Good athletes.

De Aza has looked great this spring. If I had the choice of De Aza or Viciedo for 145 games this season, I'd take De Aza. Maybe not for the next 5 years, but for 2014.

Hawk in the booth...still saying Semien won two league MVPs last year. Not true. Maybe he's thinking about Semien winning the league MVP and Micah Johnson winning the postseason MVP. Hawk is an idiot, and somebody should have corrected him on that.
