  1. He was claimed off waivers by the Sox. I thought they had to make a trade, but I guess not. 40 on the 40-man now.
  2. I'm really hoping this turns into a bigger trade than just Guerra for whatever.
  3. Also on MLB Network for the out of towners. No lineups yet? Gotta be a trade brewing. Speaking of... https://twitter.com/ChrisCotillo/status/448877087693471744 https://twitter.com/ChrisCotillo/status/448878577669636096
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 26, 2014 -> 09:13 AM) So what are we looking at for the final roster? Just cut Semien definitely....and Leury I'm guessing and we're good to go? If Beckham starts on the DL, Semien will probably start at 2B. SP- Sale, Paulino, Quintana, Johnson, Danks BP- Webb, Cleto, Veal, Downs, Lindstrom, Belisario, Jones OF- Viciedo, De Aza, Eaton, Garcia IF- Gillaspie, Ramirez, Garcia, Semien, Dunn, Abreu, Konerko C- Flowers, Nieto DL- Keppinger, Beckham To be cut- Purcey, Putnam, Gimenez, Tekotte, M Johnson, Liddi
  5. Monday-- high 50, showers possible Wed- Periods of rain, high 49 Thu- Morning shower, high 53 BTW- it's supposed to rain all day in Birmingham on Friday before the night game. Wet field.
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) I prefer Sale/Q/Johnson/Danks/Paulino. Screw the LRLRL, Paulino is NOT a #2. Paulino's first opponent is Kevin Correia, and then the Rockies #3 starter. The order doesn't matter, and I think most of the reason why Danks is number 5 is so he doesn't have to hit in Colorado, along with Sale. And again, when they have to skip somebody because of rain, more than likely it will be Paulino. So this is a non-story.
  7. Apparently there is a dust storm close by, and tomorrow's game may be in jeopardy.
  8. Gillaspie up with bases loaded, 1 out in the 3-hole, and strikes out on three pitches. Let's just stick with Abreu at 3. K, thanks.
  9. If they just dumped Beckham now for a low level prospect, I wouldn't even care. Semien needs to play. But yeah, patience.
  10. Sale out after 3.2 inn. That seems to be customary for the last start under Don Cooper.
  11. Hopefully he's durable to play enough to get to those numbers, but I'm going to say they'll protect him a little this year, and he'll play about 140-145 games. 24 homers, 78 rbis
  12. No tv. A Rockie hit a triple to left field with Viciedo out there. Without seeing, I can't blame Viciedo, but chances are....
  13. I'd rather see Konerko get a nice intro when they line up, and then pinch hit when the Sox are up 10-2 in the 8th. If he came back to be a Ploach, he should sit on opening day. BUt I guess they don't have to worry about Dunn's feelings in his last season.
  14. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/mlb/gameda...mp;mode=gameday Sale's last start. Stubbs double, Lemahieu single, wild pitch, Cuddyer rbi single, double play, lineout, 2-0 Rockies going to the bottom of the first.
  15. There are so few scheduled off days, that they won't be skipping guys. Eventually there will be rain out, and you know who they'll skip? Paulino. By the time they get to the break, Paulino will have the fewest starts, even if he stays off the DL. Truthfully, I think the initial order has more to do with keeping Sale and Danks out of the batters box in Colorado.
  16. Even though I said 74 wins, this team has the potential to be a surprise team. Abreu would have to be a monster and Paulino and Johnson would have to over perform. Could it happen? Sure. I'm interested to see how they get out of the gate against good teams. Sometimes it's good to play the good teams early before they find their groove. Go 16-11 the first 27, and we may have something.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 18, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) Royals using Ventura 3rd in the rotation means the Sox will probably miss him the first weekend. Quintana vs Guthrie for the Royals home opener Johnson vs Chen Sale vs Shields (seen that before) So Erik Johnson gets opening day in KC, then Danks and Sale.
  18. Danks and Sale won't have to bat in Colorado if this holds.
  19. Rotation set: https://twitter.com/DanHayesCSN/status/448536475328454657 Hmm.
  20. 74-88 AL Central (34-42): Cle 7-12; Det 8-11; KC 8-11; Min 11-8 AL East (15-19): Bal 3-3; Bos 2-5; NY 3-4; TB 4-3; Tor 3-4 AL West (16-16): Hou 4-2; LAA 3-3; Oak 3-4; Sea 5-2; Tex 1-5 NL (9-11): Cubs 2-2; SF 1-3; Ari 1-2; SD 3-0; Col 2-1; LA 0-3
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 25, 2014 -> 11:00 AM) We see a RHP 60% of the time. With that logic, Nieto and De Aza are our regulars. As far as starting pitching, the Sox faced righties 76.5% of the time last year. Smyly, Vargas, and Chen are the only lefties in the division starting out.
  22. Eaton 8, Garcia 9, Gillaspie 5, Abreu 3, Dunn DH, Viciedo 7, Ramirez 6, Flowers 2, Semien 4. Sale 1. Interesting lineup today considering it's all of the regulars if Beckham starts on the DL. Maybe this is what Robin is going with for OD. I'd rather see Semien in the 2-hole, and Gillaspie at 7 or 8.
  23. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) He's a lost cause at the plate. He'll be lucky if he ever turns it around to be a .230-.240 hitter. I can't see him turning it around that much to be a productive player when he gets older, 20 yr. old or not. Something better click during this season, or he's a bust. I don't know what he can do when it comes to pitch recognition. It would seem you either have that skill or you don't. Wish him luck. Seems like a good guy.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 24, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Pretty sure Hawkins is now 0-6 with 5 K this ST Correct. Hope he saved most of his signing money. Must be nice getting a couple million for being able to swing a bat fast and hitting high school pitching.
  25. They'll use 14-17 guys out of the pen this year. Between injuries, guys sucking, and trades, it'll be a revolving door.
