  1. I just heard Coop say they're doing it for Sale's career, not for the team. Truthfully, if Sale is informed and wants to continue starting at his own risk, why not let him? If anything, limit his pitch count to 90 and actually use some of those long relievers? To me, there was a way to do this without taking Sale out of the rotation permanantly this season. This team is going to get blown up real good by July 31st.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ May 4, 2012 -> 05:20 PM) You must be on the White Sox payroll given the defensive nature of this reply. Sounds markedly similar to the way Kenny Williams reacts when he is asked questions about the empty cupboard that is the White Sox farm system. No, I'm just not in the mood for minor league geek snark. And don't get me wrong, I'm a quasi-minor league geek too.
  3. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 4, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) That's okay. He can be replaced by one of the plethora of young high upside arms the Sox have in the minors. OK, Keith Law wannabe.
  4. So depressing. I was really looking forward to him starting 32 games for the Sox for many years. I hate this so much.
  5. We're going to learn a lot about this team over the next 12 games. 3 at Det 4 at Cle 3 vs KC 2 vs Det It's time to play well in every facet.
  6. They're just saying "twisted knee" and an MRI is set for tonight. I saw the video. Rivera went back to the wall on a Jayson Nix-hit flyball. Planted his foot on the track and was hurt before he even touched the wall. So it wasn't like he was goofing around trying to steal a BP homer. Unfortunate. I hope he's ok.

  8. Mariano Rivera was helped up off the ground and put on a cart. He may have blown out a knee shagging BP.
  9. 10 game winning streak starts tonight. Enjoy it.
  10. W-S http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...wswafa_potafa_1 Trayce Thompson came out in the 8th inning. Not sure if it means anything after his 0-4.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 3, 2012 -> 10:27 AM) That's 3 wins that Heath Bell has now cost Big Z. I'd watch my back in the locker room if I were him. I'm not big on the ins and outs of WAR, ERA+, and whatever, but at some point, they just need to ditch won/loss record altogther. At the end of the day, teams know how good you are without looking at your win/loss record. Zambrano won't lose a dime because of this. Might as well just discontinue the practice of assigning decisions. I like quality starts but know that not all of them are equal. I go--quality starts, IP, WHIP, K/BB ratio, and ERA. The way I look at it, if you make 33 starts and 20 are quality, with 210 innings, you've done your part on the team. The rest of the numbers take care of themselves.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) If Humber stinks tonight, I hope his wife goes into labor between now and Monday, so he can go on paternity and skip a start. Then just go with Stults and Molina next Monday, who both started today. Well, she had the baby last night, so I guess that answers that. I just didn't want Humber to get to Cleveland, get ready to pitch Monday, and then have to turn around and the Sox have nobody to pitch other than Stewart. I'll just assume it's Humber and Axelrod next Monday, and Stults gets the call up as backup if either gets shelled early.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) And sacrifice two games? No matter how Humber does tonight, he's still gives us a better chance to win than anyone in the minors. If he's bad again tonight, I'd like him to catch his breath baseball-wise, skip a start, be with his new kid, and we'll see him May 13th. The Indians will have to bring up somebody too, so it's not like it's a lost game before it even starts.

  15. Junior Seau. Probably self-inflicted gunshot.
  16. What's got into Beckham? Who is this guy?
  17. Brady Shoemaker is almost 25. High-A? Really?
  18. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) E: Martinez, O 4 (8, fielding, missed catch, fielding, fielding), Kuhn 4 (4, fielding, throw, fielding, fielding) Hahahahahahahahaha. Holy s***ake mushrooms.
  19. Tigers/Royals rained out. Verlander will still pitch Wednesday, so the Sox will miss him.
  20. QUOTE (baseball17 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 06:25 PM) what in the world just happened for charlotte? Sloppy game it looks like. Martinez and Kuhn with 2 errors each.
