Including this game, the Sox have 16 games they should be able to go 10-6 at minimum. 3 vs Bal 3 at Sea (no Felix) 3 at Oak 4 vs Bos 3 vs Cle This is why I don't think it's bad to make an early season roster move if they think it will give them an edge, even if it's a small edge. This is the part of the schedule they need to seize. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:08 PM) I just saw the draft will only have 40 rounds this year instead of 50. Had anyone else heard that before? I don't recall it being mentioned when the CBA was ratified. Here's the full draft order... http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2012/order.jsp Sox 13, 48, 76, 108, 141, then every 30th pick.

http://twitter.com/#!/MDGonzales/statu...373380547231744 Beckham has played 194 games at home, and he's killing it at .225/.303/.374.

Dylan Bundy pitched another 3 innings of no-hit ball. He's faced 28 batters this season, walked 1 and struck out 15.

De Aza's average went from .250 to .222 today. One of his triples from the Tigers series was ruled an error on Delmon Young. -
Who will you be cheering for, Cubs vs. Marlins?
flavum replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
Don't care either way, but will root for Buehrle. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) It's certainly plausible that he'll get that job sooner rather than later. Of course, it's also fairly likely we'll need a spot starter if someone tires out or hits the Dl here in a few weeks too, and compared to Stewart, Axelrod will be stretched out. Doubleheader May 7th too.

The Official Thread for Joe Cowley and his Agenda.
flavum replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's sad the state of sports journalism has fallen to this level. Some of the tweets are so immature, you'd think Cowley is a 15-year-old sitting in his bedroom, and not working for a big city newspaper. He's a sad human being. -

Collective anger against Beckham/Morel/Dunn/Rios thread
flavum replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Beckham is a career .225 hitter in his home park. That's almost 3 years of a sample size. It's time to do something. I hate to say it, but he's got to go down to Charlotte in a last ditch effort to get some confidence at the plate, and if he doesn't find it, they have to move him. -
Charlotte- Axelrod http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...dubaaa_chraaa_1 McPherson with a homer off former Sox Jhonny Nunez.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:21 AM) Calling up "Dallas McPherson and Conor Jackson and giving them regular playing time" is not "Playing to win" by any reasonable definition. They probably wouldn't play every day. Lillibridge and Escobar would likely get more time. I'm just saying Morel and Beckham are bringing nothing to the offense, and it's not a waste to bring up McPherson or Jackson right now if the net result is a better offense.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:50 AM) There is zero reason to call up Dallas McPherson, or anyone else who isn't in the plans for the future. I don't buy that here on April 17th. The Sox have a good pitching staff, and there's no reason for this team not to play to win. Sending Morel and/or Beckham wouldn't be a punishment. It's to help them get back some confidence at the plate without the big league pressure weighing on them every at bat. If a McPherson or Conor Jackson, or anyone else can help even a little over the next 6-8 weeks, then they should make some moves very soon. The schedule is very gettable the first half. There's no reason why the Sox can't be 50-35 at the break if they get some offense from anywhere.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Kenny going to continue to talk about how well we develop players? He was on with Rongey this past weekend, and hinted that a time will come that the conversation will take place of how much time they're going to give guys like Morel and Beckham. I hope that conversation comes soon because the big leagues is for players that perform. If Tyler Kuhn or Dallas McPherson can be just a little better while Morel and Beckham are figuring out their s***, then make some changes. -

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Its kind of depressing how time after time this team has no one to rely on but Konerko. Not to be a debbie downer or anything. go sox Same thought crossed my mind. -
Nevin Griffith...6 innings out of the pen this season, only one walk. True story.
