I have pretty much conceded that we are not gonna make ANY significant additons to this team...All we gotta do is hope 5 or 6 guys have break out years and we can somehow take advantage of an AWFUL division...

Excellent addition by the Astro's. They get a pitcher who has proven time and time again that he can pitch at a high level despite his advancing age. And not only that. He's a proven PLAYOFF pitcher. Now the Astros have four guys capable of 15 plus wins. And they got depth now with Redding, Robertson, Duckworth, and Hernandez. So now they have better starting pitching and hitting then the Cubs do. I haven't really broken down the bullpens yet. You know the funny thing. If Oswalt is healthy and makes his 30 plus starts I think the Stro's win the division LAST year. Now it's pretty much a wrap...

LOL...It's like Cub fans really believe last year was just bad luck. That 3-1 collapse against Florida had CURSE written all over it.

It amazes me how many people r jumpin on that Cubs wagon. It's like people fail to realize they won last year's central crown by a whopping 1 GAME. Houston and St.louis had MASSIVE injuries to their pitching staff last year, while the Cubs were pretty much healthy. Another thing people fail to realize is that the Cubs haven't had back2back winning seasons let alone back2back playoffs apperances in like 30 years. Oppurtunities like the one the Cubs blew last year don't come around very often. It's not like they're the Yankees who r there every year. As far as the actual team goes. Wood and Prior r studs. Can Zambrano repeat the year he had? He struggled the last month or so and in the playoffs. Clement is a .500 pitcher at best. They still don't have a 5th starter. What about Corey Patterson? How's he gonna come back? Sosa and Alou r older and on the downside. They're still weak at catcher. They helped their bullpen by signing Latroy. But will Borowski be as good? Will Farnworth ever revert back to his 2001 form? Houston and St. Louis have made pretty good addtions to their pitching staff. They already got Pettite and might get Roger to go along with Oswalt and Wade Miller. The Cards have made a few nice moves, plus I hear they're the favorites to land Greg Maddux. The Cubs should contend. But I would be SHOCKED if they won the division again...

This is hard to believe. This has been a horrible off-season. And the f***in meetings haven't even started. I NEVER EVER thought I would say this. But I wish I was a Cubs fan....

Damn. That's a HUGE blow. I for 1 thought we still had a good chance of signing him. Oh well. I think we should all just hope for the best team possible and go into 2004 with NO expectations. We've had high expectations the last 3 years and gotten burned badly. Lets expect the worst and maybe will get the best...

I'm happy the Cubs got Hawkins. For 1 the Cubs could add Bonds and Payrod and still never get as close to the world series as they did this past year for another 20 years atleast. 2nd it weakens the Twins bullpen which has been a major strength for them the past 2 years. Now only if we would start makin some f***IN moves...

Maggs can't run the bases? Maggs can't play the outfield? What team have u been watchin? I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about his baserunning. And as far as him not being able to play the outfield. That's one of the dumbest comments i've ever heard. Magglio played an OUTSTANDING rf last year and has been solid for years. Maybe you're really a Cubs fan and was thinking Sammy Sosa. As far as keeping Maggs. HELL f***IN YEAH. He is no doubt in my mind one of the top 10 players in the al. But the price has gotta be right. 8-10 million is cool But 13, 14, 15 million? I'd probably trade him...

What's up guys. I haven't been on for a while. I'm sure most of u remember me. I've kinda tried to get away from White Sox talk after the DISSAPOINTING 2003 season ended. But with that i'm kinda behind on my Sox info. I know Thomas, Valentin, and Loaiza will be back. But other than that what's been goin on? We gonna make any trades or additions? Will we have a competitive team next year? Can we somehow have a Cubs type season "without blowing a 3-1 lead in the lcs"? Anybody with any info please let me know...
