QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) Winnipeg certainly was rockin last night. Great game to watch, before the Habs eventually put the stomping on. A win would have been nice. Here's hoping they play better on Thursday.

Tigers or Brewers.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) I love the primary logo. Yeah, it turned out really well. The kids gave me the hat with that logo for my birthday this morning. I think it looks sharp.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) I'd rather trade Q than trade Juan. We don't have a true lead off hitter without Juan and shedding Carlos salary provides us more payroll flexibility now and in the offseason. We don't have a true lead off hitter with Juan.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) Andrew Ladd got a 5-year, $22 million dollar contract extension ($4.4 million cap hit). That's A LOT of money for him. I really like him as a second-line player with solid defensive skills, but looks like a bit of an overpay. But he is young still, so he could continue to improve. Regardless, good for him. I really liked him as a player. I like the deal, seems like fair market value to me. He seems to be a great character guy and I think it is great he will be here long term.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) Who's to say that they wouldn't have given him "just one more" batter or that he'd only send Cooper out there to talk to Peavy? I think my notion that it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Ozzie would leave him in too long is truer than you saying that he was going to take him out right then and there's no chance that he wouldn't. If it was the case that Cooper was just going out to talk to him it would have given AJ a chance to let Cooper know he felt Peavy was done without causing a problem.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) Sign Teemu Selanne. He should finish his NHL career where he started it. I know it won't happen but it should. People here still love Teemu.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) One of the problems I have with yesterday's riots is that it was 100% premeditated. I was watching the live coverage last night on CTV and a reporter noted that some of the fans she talked to before the game were looking forward to recreating the '94 Vancouver riots if the Canucks lost. It only lends credence to Steve's comments, the police were "ready" for rioting, not nearly as prepared as they needed to be but they were well aware that some s*** was going to go down if the Canucks lost, there was plenty of buzz before the game even began. It's not totally out there to say Vancouver can not be trusted, they seem to be the rioting type and now it's becoming a tradition. It really is quite appalling. It's sad to think many of the people involved were just out there to start rioting and looting. Looking at how things went down i think the results would have been the same even if Vancouver won.

Petition to immediately replace OG/KW with Omar or D.Martinez/Hahn
supernuke replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I've been in support of Ozzie and KW in the past, but bottom line it is time for a change. Tough to do mid season but anything less than an incredible turn around and a good playoff run and it has to be done at the end of the season. -
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/livenow?id=8193381 LIVE STREAM OF CANUCK FANS RIOTING!!!! CAR FLIPPED OVER. BURNING. What a bunch of assbags. It pisses me off that a bunch of losers has to go and make everybody look bad.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) I'm hardly a hockey fan, but can someone explain to me why they hate him? Lots of reasons, many of them irrational. I think the main consensus is mostly that he is a corporate guy that doesn't care about the game, especially in Canada.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Deafening boos. Beer cup hits the ice in the shot where Bettman is standing announcing Conn Smythe winner. Thankfully Vancouver fans will take care of burning their city to the ground. Bettman is hated in Canada he is going to get booed. They are cheering the Boston players.

Gotta love the ovation for Betman.

And its over.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2011 -> 05:09 PM) Sorry to annoy you, but Nucks fans have a much larger population of irrational fans than most fans we come into contact with. Ill just post the links from now on so you dont have to read them, but I would challenge anyone to find a message board that has 90 percent of the threads talking about the NHL's conspiracy with the refs after every game. Dude, there is a reason they are all paranoid. Everybody in Vancouver is baked all the time. Hydroponic capital of Canada. Go Canucks! Get you're act together you bunch of goons!

Winnipeg has a new GM but still no name. Can Cheveldayoff bring Toews with him. You guy don't really want him anyway right?

Canucks up 2-0 Unable to get any season tickets in Winnipeg

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Besides the token Canadian, yes.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:03 PM) Wow, the arena up there only holds 15k? That is pretty small. Do they have plans for a new building? I have heard rumours that the arena can be expanded by raising the roof, but I have no idea if there is any truth to that or not. The building is only 7 years old so I don't imagine there will be a new one.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) They are trying to prevent another failure of a fan base. It makes perfect sense to me. I understand that I just thought 80% was a little high. It only leaves a little over 2000 tickets for each game for single game sales. Like I said I am sure True North has a plan to make things work.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:11 AM) I would imagine this wouldn't have gotten this far if that wasn't a slam dunk. The guy's running True North seem to be smart businessmen so I am sure they have a plan. I just think it is odd that the have to sell 80% of the tickets as season tickets and they have to be purchased with a 3 to 5 year commitment depending on the seats.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Wait, they need 62% of their seats sold in season tickets to a team that doesn't exist prior to approval? Does that seem a tad crazy to anyone else? That can't be right. TRUE NORTH SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT LAUNCHES "DRIVE TO 13,000" TO SECURE NHL FRANCHISE IN WINNIPEG Winnipeg - True North Sports & Entertainment Limited is pleased to announce it has entered into an agreement with Atlanta Spirit, LLC with respect to the purchase of the Atlanta Thrashers Hockey Club. The purchase of the Thrashers will be subject to the National Hockey League Board of Governors approval at a Board meeting to be held on June 21. The approval of this transaction by the Board will, among other things, consider the level of support generated in the Winnipeg community during a season ticket campaign. Once the NHL Board of Governors approval is granted, the purchase of the Thrashers by True North Sports & Entertainment will be complete clearing the way for the NHL club to relocate to Winnipeg’s MTS Centre for the start of the 2011-2012 hockey season. As part of today’s announcement, True North is excited to formally kick off its Drive to 13,000 season ticket sales campaign. The Drive to 13,000 campaign will consist of a presale as well as a general public onsale. The presale will provide existing Manitoba Moose Season Ticket Holders, Mini Pack Holders, and Corporate Advertising Partners with the opportunity to secure seats during an "advance window presale". All of these existing customers will be contacted immediately by email with instructions related to their account and purchase priority timelines and procedures. www.driveto13.com

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:35 AM) Thrashers to Winnipeg official announcement to happen today. Still need approval from the board of governors. They need to sell 13000 season tickets to get the approval.
