  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) Is this done, He opted out today? Or is this espn putting up scenarios? Stein reported it. He was going to opt out either way. He can make an extra 2 mil by signing a 1 year deal with Cleveland
  2. Yeah, Phil needs to shut up with his prehistoric views on basketball. Is the earth still flat, Phil? Sure he won back to back titles 5 years ago, but we all know how fast basketball evolves. By 2020 the NBA will be full of cyborgs y'all.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) ok, and what if he's not in a funk against the bulls? Then what? He (green) can hit that shot (thus creating space for Curry/Thompson).. Charles Oakley, Rick Mahorn, and Kurt Thomas couldn't hit 3's under any circumstance. Then you defend appropriately. I do find it weird that you talk about Pippen's jumpshot and then tout Green's though. They're not that far off from each other and 3s were much less emphasized then. Also, if Tristan Thompson was cleaning up on the offensive glass, Rodman would probably do okay. He might be the best offensive rebounder of all time. If the tallest guy on the floor for you is Harrison Barnes, you might have some issues.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) Except Rodman (who wasn't a threat offensively at all sans offensive boards) and Harper couldn't shoot for s*** and Scottie was inconsistent as a shooter at best. That lineup would get exposed badly in the modern game. Bigs that can't shoot are much harder to exploit ala Tony Allen. Lots of bigs still can't shoot. I don't think they would play Scottie like Tony Allen. I guess they could try to play him the way the Cavs played Iggy, but that didn't work for too long.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) The point being, Rodman would still have to guard him 23+feet away from the hoop. Doesn't matter if he's bricking. He can't just leave him wide open. Like I said, it's just a totally different game now. The 90's offensively was iso-heavy and on defense it was play either straight up man or basic double. The game has completely changed since then. If he's shooting that percentage you absolutely can leave him open. The cavs did it quite a bit throughout the series and Draymond was often scared to take the three. As someone who was rooting for the Warriors, I was getting irritated. Draymond Green "stretching" the floor didn't stop the Cavs bigs from dominating the boards. Also, the Cavs just played extremely ISO heavy and took GS to six games. The defense in the 90s was straight up man or basic double because zones were illegal (although look at a team like the sonics or early 90s Knicks teams and they had some zone principles). Zach Lowe often talks about how the Bulls were one of the first small ball teams. They could run a Rodman-kukoc-pippen-Jordan-Harper lineup out there and just switch on everything. Lowe is a huge proponent of today's game too, so I assume you like him (or would like him).
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) I had to pause at this line because I thought you meant the Grizzlies, who took them to 6 games and were out ahead of them 2-1 to start off. I thought the same thing. I'm guessing he was talking about the Rockets? I think most people would say the Grizzlies had the best front court that GS faced though.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) Uh, yeah, Bogut was not helping this series but he was a tremendous defensive asset the majority of the time. What happens when Draymond Green is draining 3s from the corner and forcing Rodman to defend the 3 pt and takes him away from rebounding? Multiple bodies is the depth of the warriors and their ability to hack the hell out of shaq and put him on the line. Shaq's defense would be nowhere near as dominant when it isn't being used against a team whose only offense is a 5/11 guard running right into him. Interestingly, that team went up against a team with a dominant front court and dispatched them in 5 games. It's fun to look at 3 games where they struggled, where the greatest player in the game basically slowed it down to a crawl and went ISO and assume think that's the epitome of the Warriors team and how they will look vs everyone, but they adjusted and then won in 6 games. The two teams that slowed the pace down (Memphis and Cleveland) had the most success against GS both taking the series to 6 games. That's what I found most interesting. Hack a Shaq would be interesting, but Golden State relies on tempo and rhythm for their jumpshots. Also, Draymond can drain away as he shot 26.4% from 3 in the playoffs (including 25.7% against Memphis who play 2 big slow guys at the 4 and 5).
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) Eh, you guys are nostalgia whores. The warriors lived on 3 point shooting and getting corner looks, that's the best shot in the game. They would have thrown more bogut and multiple bodies at shaq and done fine. They would have funneled Kobe into jump shots. This was a very good team. When they played Bogut they were having problems dictating pace and pushing the ball. They were down 2-1 when they were starting Bogut. I think he'd have some issues guarding Shaq, and I'm not exactly sure what multiple bodies would do against him. It wouldn't be the first time he saw a double team and guys like Draymond Green wouldn't effect him. Then again, I'm probably just a nostalgia whore.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Well here's Mark Stein publicly ripping Lebron for how he treats Coach Blatt, this should be an interesting one to watch it filter thorugh the world. If Blatt ends up staying I bet Lebron starts treating him better now that these Windhorst/Stein rumblings are going public. It would be cool if Mark Jackson took over that job though.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) Ridiculous lebron wasn't mvp I think if he was better tonight he would have had a chance. Nice raw numbers, but nobody watching that game could have thought he played well tonight. Terrible on defense, some pretty costly turnovers, and he ended up with 32 points on 33 shots. Overall this is one of the most inefficient finals scoring wise in NBA history I'm pretty sure.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) Iggy for FMVP. You are correct.
  12. The scorekeeper was certainly trying to get Lebron that triple double. Last ditch effort to try to get the guy on the losing team a FMVP?
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) I'll start by acknowledging that this is about the easiest time to bring up this argument, but does anyone else think that LeBron may soon start to turn that corner where, physically, he's just not the same guy anymore? Maybe the better question isn't whether those athletic abilities are on the decline but instead whether it matters. I think it's pretty easy to see that he's starting to worsen a bit. Just look at his efficiency stats and how he's finishing around the rim. The East is so bad that it really shouldn't matter much though. The cavs should make the finals again next year pretty easily. I know Curry caught some breaks with injuries to Conley and not having to see Beverly, but he's going to end up beating an all-NBA first teamer in every round if they close out. That's pretty impressive. Lebron faced one guy on any of these teams (Pau) and he got hurt in the second game of the series.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) No chance now. They had to win game 4. Now they're forced to winning another game in GS. but the goat?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) I can't believe what I am witnessing. The Cavs could/should be up 3-0 against arguably the best team we've seen in 19 years with LeBron and absolute bums/scrubs. I still can't bring myself to think the Cavs can win this series. But they're two wins away with their belief/confidence soaring by the minute. We'll see what happens. But you LeBron haters (omg the decision!!!) better prepare to stay off the internet/social media/etc... LeBron is two wins away from being at minimum co-GOAT. Yeah, Golden State definitely looks like one of the best teams we've seen in 19 years.
  16. They're playing Draymond Green like he's Tristan Thompson. And it's working. His confidence is absolutely shot.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) It's like Big 10 football and basketball almost....except that style almost never works against the elite speed teams from the Pac 10 and SEC in the post-season. Pretty amazing...maybe the Warriors just got too overconfident when Irving went down. How many teams have won a championship without an inside presence? The Warriors have nobody on their team that can get an easy basket right now. Nobody that they can just dump it down in the post to.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) No offense, but the Bulls made a big mistake in hiring Fred. This team needs Tom Thibs more than the clowns in the front office. Why? Why do they need Tom Thibs? What would happen if they keep Tom Thibs? How many playoff series would they win if they keep Tom Thibs? Is it a finals? No? Then why do they need Tom Thibs?
  19. QUOTE (bshah723 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) GOAT will be 2-4 in the finals. Nice He was really good down the stretch though. That uncontested layup with 15 seconds left was pretty clutch. He was responsible for all their points in OT.
  20. Kyrie certainly doesn't look hobbled to start.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2015 -> 10:54 PM) An NBA big shot who I know and trust just told me a coach is getting fired in next couple days, and nobody sees it coming. -Sheridan If it's Budenholzer like I'm thinking, Bulls better have that s*** on speed dial. There's no way it's him. How would that make any sense? He has only been there for two years and he won 60 games with an ECF appearance in year two. I hope you're right though.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) Are we talking title runs only, I assume? Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, Pierce, Garnett, Allen, Melo, Durant and possibly Westbrook all come to mind. Gasol and Steph Curry could be added to that list this year depending on how things play out. Although Durant, Westbrook, Parker, and Melo were the only ones close to their peak at time. Even then Westbrook and Durant were in their very early 20s I think. You could throw Harden in there as well since he was on that okc team, although not nearly as good as he is now.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 26, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) Atlanta was one of the elite/efficient offenses in the league. Cleveland's D has just swallowed them whole for the most part. Thompson/Shumpert in the starting lineup has improved their defense tremendously. Carroll is hobbled, Korver is out, and they didn't even look like the same offensive team throughout the majority of the playoffs (against the Nets or Wizards) before those guys got hurt. We'll see how improved they are when they face Golden State. They very well could be as much improved as you think, but I'm not going to use the Eastern Conference to base my judgement. The hawks are 2/16 from 3 now and lots of these haven't even been contested.
