  1. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) I was googling it, I saw it was 7 years but didn't know how many more years to go...yay, this year and 5 more to go! Excuse me, I gotta go to the bathroom, I have a sudden urge to puke. They can afford to cut him if they choose to after this year. I've heard it numerous times by guys that the two year hit would have been too much (if they cut him this year), but it's completely realistic that they cut him if they want to bring in something else for next year. After next year he will no longer be with the Bears. That's the last year of the large guarantee. It was really a 3 year 54 million dollar deal.
  2. Auburn was 44 point favorites when I saw it this morning. They're down by 7 with less than 6 minutes left in the game...
  3. I'm going to take a guess and say today was extremely good for the public.
  4. I had the luxury of betting TCU first half -9. Up 10-3 their kicker, who leads all of fbs in FGs made, misses a 29 yard field goal off the upright with 20 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. I also had UNC +2. Down 4 with 3:30 left, Fedora decided to go for it on fourth and goal from the 6 instead of taking the FG and making it a FG wins it game. Their QB throws his second pick in a goal to go situation in the game. A fantastic night.
  5. I feel like nearly everyone knows Brady knew about the balls. The problem was the four game suspension. If he fines Brady none of this ever happens.
  6. QUOTE (captain54 @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 01:07 AM) Krause brought rings to the Bulls? Once MJ was gone the rings stopped, and the party was over for Krause.. Its not even a matter of sustained success. the franchise is being plunged into complete and total irrelevancy in this town.. Hpw many rings did Lebron bring to Cleveland? Shaq to Orlando? I'm a huge Jordan guy (trust me), but Krause definitely brought in some help. There is never total irrelevancy in this town. I thought that was the Hawks. I was wayyy wrong.
  7. I feel like KW is looked at similarly to Krause was with the Bulls. Great when they were succeeding, but chastised when they were losing. The fact of the matter is that they brought us rings. Sustained success?? Give me a ring any day of the week. E: And I agree. He has to go, just as Krause had to go in the early 2000s. I just wouldn't look at the guy that traded for Podsednik, signed Iguchi, traded Loaiza for Contreras, brought in AJ and El Duque, as well as an alcoholic like Bobby Jenks and then call him a terrible GM. I'd take that year over many. Double edit due to intoxication: I was a young teenager when he traded Jeremy Reed for Freddy and I thought he was trading the next Ted Williams because Jeremy was hitting like .400 in the minors at the time (IIRC). So add that to the moves.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) Jeez man, I know you're a Sox fan because I've seen your posts in Pale Hose Talk, but some of your posts are oddly pro-Cubs... yeah, I get it, they are much better than we are right now. There's no disputing that. But the way you've been talking about them in the last few pages of this thread make it seem like you're actually a Cubs fan, which, as I said, I know you aren't I just assumed he was some sort of plant that came to convert Sox fans into Cubs fans or something. Every post I've seen is bashing the Sox, praising the Cubs, or both. And I do get the current situation of both franchises. I think everyone here does. I just don't feel the need to be reminded in every post.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Chicago Tribune ‏@chicagotribune 45m45 minutes ago Illini athletes tested positive for banned drugs 65 times in '14-15, most in 10 years: report. http://trib.in/1NIarlf I'm sure whatever the number from the basketball team was will likely fall now that Rice and Cosby are gone.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Shouldn't have to go into detail. The Cavs are world champions with kyrie and love last year. Those two healthy + Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson is pretty much a lock. but the clippers added lance stephenson and his 8.8 per, 39 year old paul pierce and josh smith. The rockets added an alcoholic who needs the ball in his hands (james harden kinda needs the ball too) and kevin durant is coming off a lost season due to multiple foot surgeries. But yeah, they're all more of a sure thing than Cleveland. More of a sure thing? I don't believe in "sure things". There are too many unknown variables. I also enjoy seeing you bash the other additions while using Mo Williams and Richard Jefferson as part of what makes the cavs "a lock." Insane. This is obviously going nowhere. When Lebron likely loses in the finals again you can come back this time next year to call the cavs a lock once again.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) And none of the three are better than a healthy Cavs team. Well you showed me.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 09:26 PM) I'll give you Warriors/Spurs. The other three is just you LeBron hating. The Cavs were the best team in the league from February until the Love and later on the Kyrie injury. They've got the same team with even more depth now (I'll assume TT signs at some point). The Clippers had statistically the best starting 5 last year. The problem was they had no depth. They added Lance, Pierce, and Josh Smith. The Rockets made it to the WCF with no PG and Montiejunas hurt. They get Beverly back and added Ty Lawson for nothing. OKC is OKC. If they're healthy, they're stacked. You can disagree with me all you'd like, but please don't act like what I said was out of the realm of possibility.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) And in the West, I have this: (fwiw, my predictions for both conferences were very accurate last year) 1. Golden State Warriors (59-23) 2. San Antonio Spurs (58-24) 3. Houston Rockets (56-26) 4. Los Angeles Clippers (56-26) 5. Oklahoma City Thunder (55-27) 6. New Orleans Pelicans (50-32) 7. Dallas Mavericks (48-34) 8. Memphis Grizzlies (45-37) ----------- 9. Phoenix Suns (43-39) 10. Minnesota Timberwolves (32-50) 11. Utah Jazz (30-52) 12. Sacramento Kings (28-54) 13. Portland Trail Blazers (25-57) 14. Los Angeles Lakers (23-59) 15. Denver Nuggets (19-63) ----------- 1. Golden State Warriors def 8. Memphis Grizzlies 4-1 2. San Antonio Spurs def 7. Dallas Mavericks 4-2 3. Houston Rockets def 6. New Orleans Pelicans 4-3 5. Oklahoma City Thunder def 4. Los Angeles Clippers 4-3 1. Golden State Warriors def 5. Oklahoma City Thunder 4-3 2. San Antonio Spurs def 3. Houston Rockets 4-2 2. San Antonio Spurs def 1. Golden State Warriors 4-3 Spurs beat Cavs 4-2 in finals The west is just insane. Those top 5 teams would all be my favorite to come out of the east. Why do you have the Grizzlies getting so much worse? Also, Utah came on pretty strong late last year, but I guess they lost Exum. I can't see them only winning only 30 games though. Everything else looks pretty good though.
  14. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Adam Johns or Jahns or whatever was on some radio show this morning and said he'd be shocked if SMC wasnt one of the starting ILBs. Said he's the one out there calling plays on defense. Good for him. He's always just played out of position in my opinion. Yeah, sounds like it would be Shea and Christian Jones as starting ILB. I'm curious to see them in action in this new defense. Jordan Mills still sounds like he's awful, unfortunately.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Ha it's been long enough. Abrams tore his acl again, ugh why couldn't we just get a pg. Sucks for Groce, but he should still lose his job if he misses the tourney.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 11:30 AM) So apparently JCL is in a walking boot? Yup. He'll be back in September, but will miss playing in the Europe trip. Illinois can't buy a break.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) Even an OCF like Larry Bird recognizes where the game is/headed. Wants to play Paul George at PF next year. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13256880...position-switch Who are their other big men options?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:14 PM) Lebron or his agent really messed up. Evidently he is signing a 2 year, 1+1 deal. I don't understand why he wouldn't have went back with another max deal with consistent out clauses. At least then in instance he has significant injury, he has protection and get all the money. Right now, if he had a horrific injury, he only has 2 years of guaranteed money. Given all the leverage he has, it just seems ludicrous. I feel like you can have only one player option at the end of a contract. Otherwise every player would do what you're saying
  19. Cavs supposedly might trade for Joe Johnson. The luxury tax could be insane.
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Wow, I'm surprised Love wanted back in for the long haul. I think it was windhorst who was speculating that he might have wanted to take a longer term deal because of health concerns (mainly his back). Clearly all speculation though.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) Maybe the new ILL coach will be a one and done making machine especially with big men. That would help. Okay? Most times the #2 player in the class plays more than 17 MPG and is a one and done. I guess I'm just not being level headed or something.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Cliff and his family taking improper benefits and not playing when it counted was why he wasn't drafted. So yes. Cliff's bad decisions are why he wasn't drafted. Which had nothing to do with KU. And the original point was it being ammo against KU, which it isn't. Cliff averaged 7 and 5 and played 17 minutes per game. I'm going to guess that he would have had better numbers and more minutes with Illinois. When is the last time Self had a one and done big guy? The high low he runs seems to take a bit for big men to get used to.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Thank god grant is gone. Sucks Vaughn and Wright is off the board. Those were two definite targets. I want Justin Anderson +1
  24. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) Hezonja's tape is so good. Think he's going to be at worst 4th best player in the draft. He's supposed to be an awful teammate. Very selfish player. Heard a good player comparison could be JR Smith on the Lowe post earlier.
