  1. Thorne granted his 6th year. The team should be pretty loaded if they're healthy, which I know is a big if.
  2. NBA refs are having quite the playoffs.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) Zach Zaidman ‏@ZachZaidman 1h1 hour ago Ezekiel Elliott tells @dpshow he thinks #Bears are in "love" with him. Please be gone by 11
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 06:28 AM) I disagree they took White because they needed to replace Marshall. Who do you think BPA at the time was?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) Why isn't everyone doing Pilates if it makes you gain 2 mph And hit 440 ft home runs as a pitcher.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) Hes not gonna make it that far. I sincerely hope you're right.
  7. The Wolves are going to be so good soon. Fantastic hire. I would bet they make the playoffs next year with a top 5 seed possibly.
  8. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) Also injured and unhappy. No coach needs full authority. The coach and the GM have such different jobs. Injured and unhappy? The bulls training staff and Gar are going to Minnesota too?
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) The comparison used most is Marshall Faulk He reminds me much more of Forte than he does of Faulk. Faulk was a decent amount smaller and faster than Elliot. Forte had similar size and speed. Obviously, if Elliot has the career that Forte had, that's one hell of a career.
  10. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 03:06 AM) Kenyon Drake still has tread on the tires tho. He should be a pretty good short-yardage/goal-line back. Not quite sure I see that. He's skinny and weak (10 reps at 225). I figured he'd be more of a third down back that's used in the passing game with some big play ability.
  11. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) Who hates Gus Johnson? The difference between Gus Johnson and Hawk and Vitale is Hawk and Vitale blatantly make things up. Gus Johnson is extremely listenable, whereas Hawk and Vitale are complete garbage at this stage in their career. Gus Johnson is awful. He feigns emotion far too much. It's difficult for me to watch anything he's a part of. I'll also never forgive him for calling Indiana's assembly hall "The house of paign" before an Illinois @ Indiana basketball game a few years back. Way to fail at google, Gus.
  12. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 01:59 PM) Well, there's Damonte Williams currently I was talking more about Irvin kids from Chicago. Kids they can actually influence.
  13. QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) What are they thinking? What an unfortunate hire. Sounds like Charlie Moore might be thinking of reopening his recruitment. I honestly wonder if Illinois will ever get an Irvin player. Probably not.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) Sam Hinkie has resigned as GM of the 76ers. Makes sense. Colangelo was hired as Team President and he's most likely bringing in his son Bryan Colangelo as GM. I would have left to if I were Hinkie. Maybe his podcast with Zach Lowe really got to him when Lowe talked about Colangelo cutting off his balls, so to speak. He made that like yesterday. Crazy.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 08:24 PM) LeBron also shot below 40% for the series (obviously missing his 2nd and 3rd options didn't help). I'm just saying it would be different and he/they would have to adjust. Assuming, of course, that were playing without illegal defense. This is why i say 20 years is too big a gap. Yes, that's why I said he sucked. He isn't a great post player nor is he a good midrange shooter. Jordan is probably the GOAT at both.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) I didn't mean Jordan couldn't post up at all. He'd be the best post-up guard in the game. But in 1996, you could clear out one side of the court and let him go to work. If you doubled, in 1996, you had to actually double. No inbetween. Now you can flood the strongside without hard double teaming and not get called for illegal d. That's why spacing, ball movement and shooting is so much more important in the modern game. I know you know this. just reiterating. Lebron posted up the whole series and sucks, but took them to 6 games. He played with two bigs that can't shoot threes and two smalls that were mediocre shooters. Jordan would be fine.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) You would have to bench Longley completely. He would be worthless in a series like this. Rodman at the 5 and Kukoc at the 4 would be the way to go. I think defensively they would be fine, though challenged, more so than any team they saw at that time. Offensively it gets a little bit trickier. Rodman, Kukoc, Pippen, Jordan and Harper: where's the outside shooting? where's the spacing for jordan to post up or pippen to slash consistently against the top defenses of today? remember, no illegal defense. you can cheat, shade, sag, etc today without being called for illegal defense. So the Warriors get a short 3-point line to play with? This is something that's rarely discussed. The Bulls feasted on the shorter line that year. The splash brothers with a 22 foot 3 point line? Yikes. They'd still want to shoot deeper 3s. The shorter line would ultimately hurt spacing a bit and the physicality would definitely hurt them a lot. The bulls with Rodman at the 5 could switch every pick and roll also. People talk about how you HAVE to go small against the Warriors, yet the only two teams that took them to 6 games last year were teams that played Thompson and Mozgov together and Z Bo and gasol together.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 11:08 AM) Er, that's highly debatable. Bulls wouldn't sweep like Scottie said, but it'd be a blood bath of a series. The second dynasty Bulls Kay be the most well constructed team in history to take down the Warriors? With 90s rules, the Bulls likely sweep. Today's rules and the Bulls win in 5 or 6 probably.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 07:10 PM) Would you do this: Bears trade 11th pick to the Jets for Wilkerson and the 19th pick. That would be the equivalent of trading the ~51st pick for him. I would, I think.
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) That's partly why I want Orlando to trade Oladipo for him, especially if Vic is going to demand 5/145 for his next deal.... What has Oladipo done that could warrant a deal even close to that?
  21. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 08:27 PM) So Illinois insider people on twitter seem to think Tilmon to Illinois is a done deal, with Goodwin to follow. Announcement in the next week or two. If true, finally some positive news for the program It looks like Meyer changed his prediction to Tilmon to Illinois today also. If they could get Tilmon and Goodwin in the mix, this would arguably be the best Illini recruiting class since the Self era.
  22. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) He does. Illinois already has a commit that he's tight with. He had been on campus a few times over the past month and most expected him to commit in the next month or so. Oh well, at this point I just want Groce gone.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 10:57 PM) What changed, thought he was a lock? Maybe all the arrests?
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) Brad Stevens may not be a top 5 coach but nobody can dispute the job he is doing in Boston. They're the #3 seed, yes in the East, with a roster where most fans probably can't name their starting 5. Jae Crowder has developed into a really good NBA player. Don't just look past him. He gets good reviews from veteran players too. I would put Stevens in my top 5.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) here's the thing on the bolded - I'm genuinely not sure that's true. I look at a team like the 2013-2014 Bulls, with Deng still around, Noah at DPOY level, quality depth, Butler starting to develop into an all around threat, and I can't figure out how you could give Thibs a more perfect roster than that one...with the exception of the all star PG who is missing. About the same thing in 2012-2013 although Hamilton/Butler there is maybe a bit weaker. Those teams were built perfectly for Thibs, with the exception of Rose's injury. The Timberwolves could become incredible under Thibs. Legit finals contenders in two years IMO.
