  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 3, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) If the Brewers at like $20 million though, he'd be on like a 4/60 deal. I think a rental type LHB is much more likely but it's not completely crazy. Given that it would be his age 33-36 seasons, that's still too much money IMO. Given his "medical" history, you can't trust that he will stay healthy or productive. I would love it as a one or two year rental though, this team would be dangerous.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) I don't say this about a lot of places I have been, but Cleveland f***ing sucks. I was there for a wedding last year, the downtown area had enough going on to have a fun weekend. If the Bears played there, I wouldn't be against going for a Saturday-Monday jaunt. But yeah, overall it looked like it really f***ing sucks.
  3. QUOTE (shysocks @ May 2, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) Shelby Miller is averaging fewer than 4 innings per start, has a 1:1 K/BB ratio, and boasts an 8.49 ERA. That trade has the potential to be the most lopsided in decades. It's exciting. I believe he is set to face the Braves this weekend. It's like the exact opposite of Clayton Kershaw facing the Rockies in Coors.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Still he likes the same things. He's a freak. What kind of an idiot walks away from the money Buehrle could be making to spend more time with his family and go shoot animals? Next thing you know Buerhle will want to take his pitbull to work with him. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 2, 2016 -> 09:24 AM) Where does one obtain such a broad paintbrush?
  5. That would be crazy if Heyward played poorly enough that he didn't opt out and actually played out the full 8 seasons in Chicago. Just always expected him to be gone in 3, still assuming that happens.
  6. QUOTE (shysocks @ May 2, 2016 -> 08:50 AM) I've now read approximately 950 defenses of Hawk proclaiming "PEOPLE DON'T LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE IS A HOMER BUT THAT IS WHY I LIKE HIM" since the last time I saw somebody complaining about him being a homer. Let me tell ya folks, there are plenty of other reasons he's no longer good at his job. Him cheering for the Good Guys isn't even a factor. It's my favorite part of the discussion. "Hawk may be a homer, but he's our homer", while zero people are complaining about the fact that he is a homer. His homerism is the only good thing left about him, everything else is why he needs to go.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2016 -> 09:04 AM) For a team with a front office who get to work in a clown car, a manager who shouldn't manage a lemonade stand, and a roster full of has beens and never weres, they are doing pretty well, although if you read gamethreads, should be doing better. Where does one obtain such a broad paintbrush?
  8. Turned the game on when I got home yesterday afternoon, immediately heard Hawk complaining about the umps, had it on mute the rest of the way. Ending road trips is even better this season, knowing that a listenable PBP guy is returning to the booth at home.
  9. He's been a hot prospect for a while but he's only 26 so he can totally still have that breakout season. As far as his personality goes, it reminds me of AJ. it's awesome now when things are going great, but I can see it getting as annoying during a down season. We can worry about it then
  10. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 30, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Leafs have the #1 pick. Winnipeg #2, Columbus #3. Stamkos, Shaw, Shattenkirk and Matthews is a solid start to the rebuild in Toronto They have so many similarities with the Cubs right now, especially given the fanbase and franchise history. Time will tell if they can get good again too.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 10:52 PM) How bout that kicker in the second? 14 for 22 from 40+ yards over the last two years
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) Mattingly takes Conley out after 116 pitches with a no hitter. I think that's bulls***, although the reliever is three outs away from the no no and they still may get it. You figure it'll take him 132 pitches maximum to get the no-no. I think those 16 pitches are worth the risk of a career ending injury. Those 16 pitches could make the difference between three generations of his family being financially set for life or Conley having to take a real job at age 30. Stop it greg.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) The next 1000 players are all better than Hackenberg Fixed.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) I am beginning to hate playing at Baltimore. It's the new Oakland. Although Bobby Jenks was owned by the Orioles too.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 07:59 PM) So what happened on defense in the 5th Lawrie booted a potential DP play ball. Then Rollins cleat got stuck and he tripped will turning another DP.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 07:32 PM) Cowboys got Jaylon Smith. Sahhweeeet! I don't follow football enough to argue if it's a good pick or not, I just root for my favorite NFL team to draft as many players as they can from my favorite college team. Two very similar teams. Haven't won much in 20 years yet their fans think they are the most important teams in the sport.
  17. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) @AaronLemingNFL #Bears wanted OT Jason Spriggs. Was told they had a first round grade on him. Moving back to #55. f***ing Packers!
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) Jaylon Smith to the Boys. I read on Twitter that their team surgeon performed his surgery. Interesting tidbit. I imagine they consulted with him.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) I copied and pasted that name. From a Key and Peele skit?
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) Right, that press conference wasn't good (I'd fire my agent), but at that point there was already photos of those conversations. He could either a) lie b) not answer question or c) tell truth. He should have done B, but he was in a horrible situation. I'm sure in their media exercises they didn't prep him for a night like that. In the end, admitting to taking money won't affect him at all anymore. But it will probably put Ole Miss in a heaping pile of s***. But again, f*** the NCAA, a kid is just trying to pay some bills.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 08:17 PM) Pick is very BLAH He could fit well in the defense, but why trade up for him?
