  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) Seabrook has almost as many points as Toews for the season Crawford and the 2nd line have really hid how little production the Hawks have gotten from the 1st line this season. Yet here they stand once again, the favorites to win the Cup and reinforcements have arrived. I imagine we see some big games from 16/19/81 come April.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) How realistic/expensive do you think getting tickets to a game at the world cup will be? I've never been to Toronto out of winter, and love flying porter airlines there. Could be a fun trip. http://www.stubhub.com/world-cup-of-hockey...ouping/1505616/
  3. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 03:38 AM) Nope. Both will be on the team. Both will play plenty during the season. Whoever plays better will play more. Bizarre fixation, not just in this specific case, but in general with "who's gonna win the job?" and "who's gonna be named the starter?" Whoever plays the best will get the playing time during the season. Opening day is irrelevant. Micah Johnson was the opening day 2nd baseman. He lasted a month. We're talking about a $2 million 37 year old and a guy playing for the league minimum. There's no incentive to play anyone other than whoever is playing best. Rollns should have the job on opening day assuming he shows he isn't cooked. He's done it for a ton of years. He hits left handed. He'll benefit from time off with Saladino playing particularly against lefties. If and when Saladino proves he's the bigger asset on the field on a daily basis, he'll play more. Like ss2k5 said, Rollins was signed to be the everyday SS, otherwise he wouldn't be here. I don't see this as some kind of timeshare.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 09:08 PM) I'd rather have a better PK than PO. Statistically speaking, teams with an average to poor PP can win a cup. Ideally they have both but IIRC the Hawks have had a top 7 PP all season long Disagree. If Seabrook was struggling, they'd have only 2 defensemen, and I doubt a team with 2 defensemen would have 83 points. Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson have been fine this year. There's no way the Hawks would be this good so far if only Keith and Hjalmarsson were playing well. Or the league's 2nd best goalie this season has been saving the defense's ass?
  5. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 16s17 seconds ago Robin Ventura also expects Jimmy Rollins will make the team. I take that as a big f*** you to Saladino. I guess he never had a chance.
  6. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) Crawford has been out of his mind tonight. The offense for the Hawks looks terrible. And then Kane - Panarin - Goal. That sums up the first 3 months of the season for the Hawks.
  7. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) He just said best overall season. I was just trolling too, busting Austin's balls at little bit. We've all noticed a dip in his defensive play as well, but going as far to saying he is a huge problem and it's a terrible contract is a total stretch. I think something that can be also overlooked in the lack of scoring they had early in the season, with this team really being a one-line team. Who's to say Q didn't ask Seabrook to focus a little bit more on the offensive side of things to make up for their lack of scoring? I'm not saying that's 100% the case, I just think there is more to examine. While I still dislike the long-term extension, he has still earned the benefit of the doubt for at least one playoff season, he has shown that he can step it up when needed, so hope he can do it again. To go along with your point, the #4, 5, and 6 D-men have just been an interchanging mess all season, I'm sure that hasn't helped him either.
  8. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 10:35 PM) BIG TEN CHAMPS! So that's good news for the rest of the Big Ten, right? Crean can't get fired for a few years now.
  9. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) U.S. Hockey Hall of Famer and #1 color commentator in the NHL Eddie Olczyk just said Brent Seabrook is having his best season as an NHL'er this year on the NBCSN broadcast. #JustSayin Best offensive season? Sure. If he wants to keep this up and score two goals every playoff series, I will happily overlook his defensive struggles.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 06:31 PM) Maybe he needs time off to spend with the grandkids. Jagr? Grandkids? Ha. Even at his age, he might be hockey's most eligible bachelor. Sleeps with models and then laughs off their blackmail attempts.
  11. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) While the playoffs are obviously on everyones mind, I'm getting pumped for the World Cup of Hockey. I love having Team USA and Team Canada, along with a U23 Team North America as well. Should be some really fun hockey. That Swedish blue line is rock solid. And how could the Czechs not add Jagr to the roster?
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) This Leicester team is a lot of fun to watch. I caught the end of the game today and they had me on the edge of my seat. It's too bad Morgan and Ulloa couldn't convert their two chances in front of goal. Tottenham can leap Leicester tomorrow with a win. A perfect day for Leicester today, wow.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) 3 games, really. 30/162 almost equals 3/16. I think it should've been more. Hum. Apparently I forgot how to multiply and divide yesterday, oops.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Carbomb seemed to generate that sentiment here when he came to chicago That was gonna be my response. Everytime Q would put him back in the lineup, it would just grind my gears. IMO he provided nothing to the table hockey skill-wise. At least John Scott was entertaining at times. I remember being at a game where Carcillo scored a last minute game winner and I was just like, "Good job, you son of a b****".
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 09:11 PM) damn, you are right. crap. i am wrong. my enthusiasm got the best of me and i really hate being wrong. but ...... many thanks. Enthusiasm for Barret Jackman? The thought of him on the Hawks makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit. No thanks.
  16. Wow, interesting first penalty for the new policy. Seems like there was a little compromise from everybody to not turn this into a big thing. About equal to a 4 or 5 game NFL suspension.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) Yeah, Lawrie at 2b scares me. Really? I had been under the impression that he was OK defensively. That's a bummer.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) i like it, piling up on the 2017 draft picks. i hope at this draft, after they, the hawks takes cares of unfinished business, will pkg some of their picks to more in 2017. I think they got a mandate from above to hold on to their 2017 picks because they are hosting the draft. That was why the Canadiens got 2018 2nd round pick
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Can someone add a link? http://deadspin.com/minnesota-suspends-thr...ex-t-1761925904
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) So THATS why the Minn players were suspended. Wow It's pretty dumb to post that on social media if you are just a regular Joe Schmo college student. It's extra extra dumb if you are a B1G basketball player too. I know they did nothing illegal, but what good could possibly come from posting that??
  21. Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 20m20 minutes ago Adam Eaton was very apologetic about Oscars tweet last night: "I feel terrible. I truly do...It was a tweet to talk about equality..." (1/2) Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 20m20 minutes ago Adam Eaton: "I apologize to anybody who was offended. I am not by any stretch of the imagination trying to downplay racism in this country."
  22. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 28, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Maybe switch Teuvo and Shaw? Shaw isn't really first line material. I'd rather let Teuvo get more reps in with Flesichman since that's who he will be playing with in the playoffs. Let Shaw fill in on the top line until Hossa gets back.
  23. I was worried about trading away Teuvo, instead Bowman trades for two new line mates for him. Guess the organization loves him more than I do. The biggest strength of the three Cup teams was depth from lines 1-4 and Bowman took care of that. Keith got a month off for knee surgery so he should be ready to play 30+ minutes a game again and carry the blue line through June. I wish the playoffs started tommorrow!
