Best Coach/Manager in Chicago sports history

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 10:28 PM) Very surprised at all the Jackson love. He had MJ, folks. You know how hard it is to win the Stanley Cup? And Ditka has the greatest defense of all time, yet only made one Super Bowl. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Yeah, whatever. By 2017, it's going to be like the movie Rookie of the Year except it's real life. You'd agree if it were anybody but the Cubs. You think the Cubs are gonna have a bad team and major attendance problems in 2017 until they sign a magic 12 year old? I strongly disagree .

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) And who gets traded. The wild card has to be Corey Crawford getting dealt. With the defense the Hawks have, would they be willing to turn the keys to the car over to Raanta and Darling? It's just words, but Bowman basically called Crawford untouchable today. Since the big contract was under his watch, I would be shocked if Corey gets moved. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 12:51 AM) I go full meatball when a team wins a title. Kimmo, right or wrong was on the ice for most of the playoffs games and the Hawks ended up winning the title. Did he help them? Probably not, but you just don't know what would have happened with someone else in that lineup. Value, it was a bad deal. Given the circumstances of how 2016 looks, you do anything you can to win in 2015, and they did that. It was worth it. You are right. I also subscribe to the theory that flags fly forever and am always willing to mortgage the future for a title, especially with the tight salary cap. And let's be honest, Rundblad or Cumiskey may have given up a goal in 3:30 of ice time, and Kimmo didn't. It's just that he was soo bad, he couldn't even skate. My lowest expectations at the time of the trade were higher than what he produced. At the time, my wife said "He hasn't played in 6 months and has been in a hospital bad, how the hell is he gonna be any good at hockey" Smart woman. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/blackhawks/one-c...pact-blackhawks I'm happy for him and it was a great story, but wow was the Timonen trade f***ing awful. Two second round picks for a guy that was a healthy scratch multiple times and played all of 3:30 in the clincher. Whoever signed off on his fitness was dead wrong -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) Bill Wirtz once told former GM Mike Smith "Stanley Cups are too expensive..." To be fair, I wasn't equating father and son , I just hate the yearly announcement about how much money the Hawks are still losing, when we know the truth. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) bill writz owns the licquer company that provided the licquer to the games, he was part owners for the vending companies that provided the cups, napkins, and other paper goods to the team and yes toliet paper. thru the bismark vending or restaurant, they provided all the snacks and other food staples that the other vendors sold, plus the deal from Budweiser for being the beer of choice esp at a discount for both the bulls and hawks where it is shared with the bulls owners. parking lot, and other advertising. That's the same reason Rocky keeps claiming that the Blackhawks are losing money, yet he is still pocketing lots of money from them. -

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) Last night was incredible, the whole playoffs were (I was lucky enough to be in the building out here for the 3OT Anahiem game), but there was something a little different with this one. 2010 was history, 2013 was more of "Oh my god these guys are going to do it again, what???? And this year was more "That's right, we are THIS MF'ing good world, look at us." Still a ton of fun, but a different attitude. Well said. They had some cringe worthy moments vs. Nashville and they should have never let Anaheim go to 7 games, but it was more of a "Last year was bulls***, the Cup is ours and we are here to take it back". Even leading up to last night, I like barely even thought about them losing, it just didn't seem possible. They were gonna clinch at home, because they wanted it that way. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Looking at the onslaught of position players joining the big leagues with highly anticipated debuts, I have to wonder if the Sox will have come out of a generational surplus of hitting talent empty handed because of organizational deficiencies, though possible they were able to take advantage by getting better pitching talent than they otherwise would have. Interesting thought. The Cubs have been drafting and acquiring hitters as the new market inefficiency, while the Sox keep finding pitching yet losing games.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 10:18 PM) Versteeg in for Bickell was a stroke of genius. Q is amazing. His decision to bench Teuvo and Vermette still is unexplainable, but he dominated Bodreau and Cooper with his in game moves. Cooper treated like a regular season game giving everyone equal time, while Q rode his horses to the title. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) Hammer finished this series with two perfect games. Awesome playoffs for him. Such an underrated but vital part of this dynasty. Once Sharp gets traded and I need a new sweater, it's gonna be a #4. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 11:08 PM) Cubs now 6 games better than the Sox. A lot of that is due to better defense and base running. And they are more talented at every position in the field except for RF & LF, and the Sox LF is extremely underachieving.

LeBron should have clinched the Finals MVP award tonight. Dude is incredible, this team has no business even competing. Seth Curry ain't so bad himself though

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) I know defensemen aren't sexy, but we aren't even in the finals if it wasn't for Duncan Keith, let alone up 3 games to 2 in the finals. The guy is a machine. Hopefully people appreciate Duncan Keith, because there is no better defenseman in the game of hockey today. Absolutely. He has been dominant these playoffs. Also, I think because Keith is so good, people don't notice how rock solid Hjalmarsson is too. He will never win a Norris, but he has been a huge part of this run. On the other side, to be fair, the heir to Keith's throne is wearing a Lightning jersey. Hedman has probably been the best player in these 5 games. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) Amazing how the Sox get screwed on every borderline instant replay, but the Cubs get the benefit of the doubt. Robin went to the Lovie Smith school of instant replay
