  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) there is a lot of butthurt Cubs fans this morning complaining that WGN dared to switch to tornado coverage last night during the game That was my Twitter and Facebook feed overnight. Then they switched to split screen and people were still b****ing.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) The fact that he is kept out is, to me, what makes it relevant. And different from other sports. The best hitter of the last 50 years is not in the HOF because he is disliked as a person. Meanwhile, Mike Piazza is getting voted in soon despite having broken just as many rules as Bonds. It's a joke.
  3. They are gonna advance, but not the most confidence inducing performance by the USA. And their best player is suspended for the next match
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) I had to read the story a couple of times to make sure that I read it right. Usually its the man that kills the woman then himself, not the other way around. My first thought was CTE, until I realized he was the victim
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Yes... She would be Bruce Jenner
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:44 AM) I'm getting tired of hearing "the Cubs won't give up blank for Sale/Q cause they're the real deal." Then they don't get Sale or Quintana. Sale had the highest value in baseball and Quintana's is also extremely high. I'm just getting tired of all the fake Sale to the Cubs trade scenarios. The only Cubs players that could net Sale are currently producing on the major league level and the Cubs are contenders, so it makes no sense for the Cubs to trade them. It was feasible a year or two ago, not anymore, find a different trade partner.
  7. I think it's more likely Alexei has been affected by almost being as old as Minnie. Age seems to have caught up with him fast.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Why? Seemed cool on his SportsCenter interview today. He considers himself a professional ball hawk. I thought it was self explanatory .
  9. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) The guy who caught A-Rod's 3000th hit, home run ball says he's not giving it back. But to me the incredible part of the story is that this guy says he's caught over 8,000 balls. I can't even get 1 when I'm at games. That guy just seems like an awful individual. (And that has nothing to do with not giving A Rod his ball back)
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) Again, this is the type of thing that Bernstein would just go holier than thou against if someone else did it. He tweets so much about his kids, wide, and family life, but then he'll so quickly turn around and drop the sexist comments without a second thought
  11. Can we stop with this "the players are under performing" nonsense? Catcher, 3B, 2B are just bad Alexei is playing worse, but he is also getting old, and that happens Eaton is unproven, 2014 may have been him over performing Every recent Cuban hitter has regressed after their first year, it was obvious Abreu wasnt gonna be Miggy again Danks and Noesi never under performed in the rotation, they aren't good Robertson is a closer, the most volatile position in baseball LaRoche is actually performing up to expectations IMO given his age Zach Duke is Zach Duke Melky is underperforming, even if you ignore steroids, but he's not worth 10 wins
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Oh, okay...that's even worse. The original story was that he was sending out pictures on Instagram from the clubhouse during a game, but the announcers (it was one of the earlier games today) didn't even know what Instagram was, so it's no wonder the specifics got twisted around. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/06/...jgjL/story.html The old "I pushed the button at the wrong time" excuse. That's a new one. Funny they included the woman's instagram profile, she's going to get a lot of attention out of that. How is that worse? Nature called during the ballgame, so he killed the time by looking at his phone. I guess according to MLB rules, he should only read the newspaper, no new technology.
  13. I am digging the west coast location though, prime time major golf is pretty sweet.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) Well the rally was a blast. Previous 2 times I was on the parade route, this time I was able to go see the rally, and get tickets inside Soldier Field. We had a group of 12. We took the 4:50 train to the city and staring drinking by 4 am. Then we just slammed drinks on the train and the city. Rally was fun, danced a lot, took pictures with random strangers, then took a cab to a friend's apartment near the Sears tower, then drank some more at some bars, then finally went home at 10 pm. It was a LONG LONG LONG day of drinking. So tired and now I'm off to work. Ugh, I got some more stories to tell when I get home from work. It involves naked girls and finger blasting strangers. I hope those "strangers " were consenting adults or you might not want to be bragging about that online.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) Some inaccuracy. Laumann didn't preside over the 2001-2003 drafts. And the fact that Toews, Kane, Keith, and Seabrook were in the Hawks OrganIzation when all these changes happened. Would the Hawks have won 3 cups and been as popular without McDonough? I am going to say probably. They were putting the home games on TV. Bill Wirtz was gone so no matter who took over would have been thought of as an upgrade, and their talent level was improving. I also think McDonough played a huge role in Brian Campbell's contract, which at least has been partially blamed on the Hawks having to dump players, although they did dump his contract...on Tallon. Would they have won even 1 cup or the 3 they did win if they stuck with Tallon and Savard? It's easy to say no, and it's probably the correct answer, but again we will never know. To try to copy another teams' "model" especially from another sport, is kind of hard to do, and there are several ways teams go about being successful. I don't understand how he can say this guy is bad, that guy is bad, but Hahn....he just hasn't been able to do what he wants to do. How does he know that? And if that is the case, and Hahn is/was willing to be someone's puppet, why would he be the guy for the job anyway? It really grinds my gears how much credit McDonough gets for the Hawks run of success.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) with ref to stan and the salary cap i will explain later he was, at the time employed, to the best of my recollection, to another team. it was the like good ole boy connections. tallon did nothing to have been gotten rid off. however this past season, stan show his smarts in addressing that need in trading for additional talent. now this off season with the state of fa's on the team, now he will be able to put indelible mark on the history of this team, at least for me. Brian Campbell, Cristobal Huet, and the RFA offer sheet blunder.
  17. I hate it to break it to people, but David Robertson doesn't have much trade value. He is a reliever due $36 million from 2016-2018. Teams don't happily trade for contracts like that unless you throw in some money. There is a reason only Houston offered him more in the offseason. You can get a reliever almost as good as him for a fraction of the salary in July. That being said, it doesn't matter, because the Sox are not trading a guy in the first year of a four year FA deal.
  18. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) read the whole post before you start your yapping. here is the point and i will block it for you. so tell my in your limited observation where i said about getting rid of him and so forth and so on. b/c Dale Tallon was the architect of this team and was pushed out. i still think Tallon is the better GM and unlike Bowman, didn't have a daddy to help him. btw, i dare you to say i am wrong, b/c the yr before Tallon was let go, the 2 bowmans were talking about the draft and daddy bowman was giving him advise. I understand your point about Tallon, the majority of the top talent was acquired under his watch. I think that is easily forgotten given how everything else played out with the old man. That being said, you are not giving Bowman enough credit for keeping those guys under the salary cap, while adding enough talent and depth around them to win it all. This team could throw any of its 4 lines out there at any time, how many other teams could do that? Look at the Penguins, they have almost just as much top talent as the Hawks, why can't they even make the conference finals? It's not as easy as it looks. Plus, who cares if Daddy Bowman is helping? He's not going anywhere, every GM needs advisors anyway.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) Francona with awesome managing tonight. He used his closer in the 5th inning with bases loaded after a rain delay. Allen retired Montero, and the Indians bullpen held the Cubs scoreless rest of way. That is awesome. So few managers are willing to do that, but way to use your best reliever with the game on the line. And with the rain delay, it was easy to have him warmed up and ready.
  20. I can't tell if this US Open course is awful or awesome
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Versteeg doesn't have nearly the cap hit either. I believe Florida was paying half his salary too. RIP CapGeek and the site's owner, that was the best resource.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 06:27 AM) Its not even a good deal to be honest. It worked 2 years ago when the Sox had a doubleheader the day of the parade and you got access to two games for 15. White Sox baseball: Finding new & original excuses to not attend baseball games since 1920
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) What did he say now? http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/69...s-absence-score
