  1. Rasmus would be great as a low-risk reclamation project, not a multi-year FA signing.
  2. Tie game in the bottom of the 6th? Ballgame, Royals up 3-0 in the series.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) Average catch Loved the Bartman rip on Cubs fans
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 07:07 PM) Alejandro DeAza is batting second in an ALCS game. That just makes my head hurt. Well the other #2 hitters today were Joe Panik, Jon Jay, and Nori Aoki, not exactly an All-Star team.
  5. Not only is John Scott still in the NHL, but he just scored a goal. Assisted by Adam Burish. What?
  6. Anthony John Pierzynski, he of one start and 10 at-bats since September 1st is batting 6th for the Cardinals today.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) That is true. Maybe Colletti had enough or maybe he was aware his job was tied to how the team finished. If he didn't know permission was granted and these negotiations were going on behind his back, that would be really bad. Would they have made this move had they won the WS? I wonder why the Red Sox had to get compensation for Theo and the Rays don't appear to get any. Was Friedman's contract up? http://www.businessinsider.com/dodgers-hir...riedman-2014-10
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) Money talks. It makes sense, as Friedman is a guy who is used to squeezing resources, and he is going to be required to do it in LA. He has to clean up the mess now, but I'm very interested to see him work later with a large payroll. With Tampa every move had to be calculated given their limited resources. When you have money to spend, it's a lot easier to just throw money at a problem, but end up making it worse. Just look at the Yankees.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 09:56 AM) He had a great year in 2007 too. That was the one good year after 2004.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) "Big guys who play some baseball and have up and down careers" isn't a hard sell there. Rowand had even better seasons than 2004 well after they started testing. I just never found the body type case all that convincing, it always seems like people are stunned by the guys who test positive and then afterwards say they recognized the body type, not beforehand, with the notable exception of Giambi and the THG crew. He had one good season after 2004, that's it, then he completely fell off the map offensively. We will never know the truth, but I can't give the benefit of the doubt to anybody from that era.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 14, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) Are we really sure about that? I know Ozuna got suspended but he also had an incredible 2006 that made me guess "maybe he started between 05/06". And yeah, people have whispered about other guys like Rowand but they never even made official lists. Was there anyone else? If nothing else, with the Red Sox winning in 04 behind Manroid and Ortiz, and testing having just started ramping up, the 05 white sox were probably the cleanest champs since maybe the early 1990s, maybe earlier. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
  12. 3rd last second pick six on the weekend with major gambling implications
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 11:40 PM) I bet he's out this weekend but gets reinstated Monday Bench him for the Notre Dame game? No way, I bet he gets suspended Sunday night
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 04:43 PM) Am I the only one getting the "back where we belong" Cards NLCS gear ad at the top of soxtalk? Brutal. Aren't those banners based on your Internet history? Do we have a closet Cards fan on our hands?
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 04:00 PM) *takes pants off* *points and laughs*
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) Game 3 PPD. Doubleheader tomorrow!!!!
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) Are the Browns good? 3-2 and next three games are Jaguars, Raiders and Bucs. They could be 6-2. They've played so many close games, they could easily be undefeated or 1-4. I do think it's now obvious that the Steelers suck this year.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 07:38 AM) I cant imagine Eaton jaking it and not running out a ground ball. he must have really hated the coaching staff That's what I was thinking. I could see the other issues and the entitlement, he is very confident in himself. But the guys sprints to first after walks, why wouldn't he run out a ground ball?
  19. In Euro qualifying, Poland beat Germany for the first time EVER. I'm sure they will screw up the rest of qualifying somehow, but pretty awesome to finally beat them.
  20. Jake, Are all those grades "premium" content or is it free for everyone to see? I wanted to look up a different game but I can't seem to find it on their site.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 13, 2014 -> 05:37 AM) nice find. good reading. I have several questions. 1. what kind of problem did Eaton had in the clubhouse? 2. does any one think that he will put a full season without getting hurt? 1. This was from the link in the article. 2. Nope
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 12, 2014 -> 06:10 PM) Having the home team have to call a timeout because the crowd is too loud is one of the cooler things I've seen all year. Kudos Bears fans. This was so awesome it needs to be repeated.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 12, 2014 -> 10:13 PM) Boardwalk. Dayum. Every season has gone this way. A few painfully boring episodes to start out and lay every storyline out on the table. Then they flip a switch and motherf***ers start dying left and right, nobody is safe.
  24. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 12, 2014 -> 04:55 PM) It's Rauner. He's old, white, and rich. He can't do anything about that. Plus all of those attack ads just make him look a lot worse. Quinn has sucked so hard that people might just stay home. He made $50 million last year and lives in Winnetka. That is the last thing the few undecided voters want to hear today.
