QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 10:00 AM) Who is brainwashed and who called him Babe Ruth? It was fairly evident that he wasn't getting anything out of short season ball in Boise. He now goes to Low A Kane County. He is a college guy. We shall see what happens. I've seen plenty of over the top comparisons all over the inter webs. He may be the next Buster Posey, he may be the next Jeff Clement, who knows. Just the gushing over 20 at-bats is amusing to me, I'm sure plenty of players in all leagues have had similar stretches, it happens in baseball.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) I instantly thought me, but then remembered littlehurt is in the group. There's a Mizzou guy in the group, yet you still go after the fellow Illini? For shame...

QUOTE (glangon @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 03:41 AM) One thing with Tanaka, he generally only goes 6 or 7 innings, I can't remember him having a complete game at all this year. He's like the Yankees version of Max Scherzer. He actually has two complete games already and averages over 7 innings per start.

Theo truly has everyone brainwashed. A 20 at-bat sample size in short season class A and suddenly the guy is Babe Ruth?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) Why not trade for him? Even with his sub-par performance this year, he is still better than at least one of our starting outfielders. 2014 fWAR Adam Eaton: 0.5 Alejandro De Aza: -0.3 Dayan Viciedo: -0.4 Grady Sizemore: -0.4

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 11:19 PM) Good. I would like to see a hit or two from our catcher. Then don't watch the game tomorrow

No Nieto for a Danks start?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) DFA'd Maybe he would have been better off getting injured like usual, then he'd still have a job

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) Croatia and Serbia aren't bad, but not great. Scotland, Wales, and Macedonia make for a very weak bottom half of the group. I know UEFA doesn't like to change much, but they should really change their qualification. Have the bottom 1/2 or so of the teams home-and-home each other to advance, then put teams into 7 groups of 5 for qualifying. All group winners and 5 second place teams qualify directly. Two worst second place teams home-and-home for the last spot. Seeing San Marino have to play 10-12 qualifying matches and get destroyed each and every time gets old.

Getting the full 3 points against Ghana was huge. Given Portugal's big loss to Germany and their injury/suspension trouble, the US's path is suddenly much clearer. Get at least a draw vs. Portugal and 4 points may be enough to sneak out of the group. And it's possible Germany may be happy with a tie, and 5 points would get them through for sure.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 08:07 AM) Go Irish! http://www.csnchicago.com/notre-dame/notre...-mahones-arrest A junior who only played in two games last year? He'll be kicked off the team ASAP, no reason to bend the rules for him. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 01:24 AM) Thanks it was written poorly but I wasn't drunk. I think UK is a lock to win the 2015 national title though. A 4-1 lock according to sportsbook.com -
Ronaldo actually stayed in the game and due to an injury to a D man, they used their 3rd sub, so he has to play the full 90 minutes.
-
Ronaldo is getting subbed out for the 2nd half. Smart move by the coach, but sucks for the US, could have used his hammy to flare up again.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) I like Germany more than Portugal, but a draw is the best outcome for the US. If you think the US has a chance to win the group, sure. Realistically though, Germany routing Portugal & Ghana is the best result for the US.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) Barry M. Bloom @Boomskie 6m Tony Gwynn has died, his agent John Boggs just told me. It was the phone call I've been dreading. God bless, Mr. Padre. I love you. @Padres Wow, age 54. Was he sick or was this unexpected?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 09:31 PM) And he fell apart in the 6th Jumped the gun there huh?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Belisario is making big bucks? He actually makes $3 million surprisingly, which is a good chunk of change for a mediocre reliever.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 06:43 PM) I still don't do it straight up. Absolutely not.

Wow. What an ending for Switzerland, goal at the "buzzer" to win after Ecuador had a chance and just didn't shoot. Awesome.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) Yeah, crazy to look at his line and think his BABIP is still over 400 for the year So it's only gonna get worse?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 02:20 PM) You had to bring it up. Ugh. Haha. My wife went there so I root for them every year, but that was too easy.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) Bar bet: ask someone to name two countries that border the Ivory Coast. Ghana and Senegal?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 09:51 PM) I know a lot of you hate my lock bets but if you guys get the game in on Sunday (big time storms here that usually move your way) it's a lock for the KC sweep. The pitching matchup is way in favor of the Royals. Their bats have awakened and unless Dunn and Abreu go deep a couple times we're getting swept IMO. Shields vs. Rienzo is not good. I'll say 7-1 or 7-2. Royals. Bet the under. Bet the Royals. Accept your cash 2.5 hours after first pitch. The over/under is 8. You are predicting 8 or 9 runs, yet you say to bet the under. Way to hedge your bets.
