  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 11:05 PM) Backup Catchers pinch run for Paulie Slowest non-Molina in the league
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 11:03 PM) Come on Eaton!!! What's Balfour's deal?? That's just what Balfour does.
  3. That was only the 2nd win by the road team in 17 Western Conference playoff games.
  4. 5 no hit innings for Charlotte tonight
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) It's like MAC football. About the same amount of fans in the stands too
  6. Another coin flip, what a series. I can't handle this
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 08:13 PM) I wonder who is going to be his coach once he's ready to play. Jim Tressel
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 07:20 PM) Hoss just did nothing with a golden opportunity and then took a garbage penalty. The Russian soccer team doesn't dive as well as Tarasenko did on that play.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 02:48 PM) That's saying there are 41% more Cubs fans, but it's not nearly double or twice, which many would assume (2 to 1 split). If you took our 16,959 average attendance, the Cubs would be averaging around 23,900 per game (just looking at it from purely a numerical standpoint, not taking into account 8 year Sox attendance slide, horrible Cubs' rebuilding years, etc.) The Cubs are actually at 30,645, so they're still generating an "extra" 7000 fans per game pure from out of state/touristic/Wrigley Field environment/catch one ball game per season on the family vacation fans. What is really crazy is that the Rays are 28th in attendance, having drawn 277,511 after 14 games. We're going to be have to be extremely lucky to be at the 230,000 mark after 14 games (60,000+ for the four game Rays series). To be trailing the Rays by nearly 20% nearly 17% into the 2014 home season is pretty incredible. Those who were predicting another $40 million in 2015 in payroll increases are already beginning to walk back those statements, feeling that spending level isn't so automatic anymore. Those percentages were actually referring to the zip code I live in now
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) I'll be at the game tonight, so I will be doing minute by minute attendance updates. Much appreciated. While I will be watching the Hawks game, my mind will be pre occupied with the final attendance numbers tonight.
  11. Have the Sox made anything official yet or is this just an educated guess? And I just saw that Price is starting for Tampa Sunday, oh boy.
  12. Harrison twins are coming back to UK next year. There is your preseason #1.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 09:52 AM) Yeah, I think that statement is true. An entire town can't be racist while cheering for, and celebrating, the accomplishments of black athletes (and doing so for a very, very long time). The Flying Illini are talked about in Champaign like the 85 Bears are in Chicago. They're a beloved team. They JUST had a 25 year anniversary celebration for them. I bet Dee Brown is the most famous/favorite Illini of all time, and he happens to be a black dude with cornrows. And the people of Champaign love him despite hating black people?GMAB. Bardo is still a well known face around town. It's moronic to say that because some black kids have had some bad experiences on/around campus (an experience mind you, when he ran away from cops, because that's NEVER a sign that a kid is trying to hide something), the entire community is racist and stuck in the 60's. Tell people there are still racist cops. Tell people you had some s***ty experiences. Don't stereotype an entire town of people and make the school look bad in the process. You're not being an advocate for the school when you do that. IIRC Bardo's also not exactly the most perfect guy in this regard. In a prior book he s*** on someone in the program and it didn't sit well and i'm sure he did it to sell books (oh and he just happens to have a book that was published recently). And no, I don't think Champaign is racist anymore than any other town in this country. A small % of people may be racist, but not the town, and not the majority of the people in that town. Everybody in Chicago loves the 85 Bears who had many black players, so therefore there are no racism issues in Chicago whatsoever. Got it. Maybe Bardo's comments sounded a bit too all encompassing and didn't need to make it sound like the entire town is racist. I guess I just didn't take them as literally that he's damning every citizen of the town.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 08:22 AM) McGary going pro. Because he failed a few weed tests and faced suspension. Oh boy. More like he failed one drug test for marijuana was suspended for an entire season. More NCAA bulls*** http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mitch-mcgary-...-073833742.html
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 25, 2014 -> 07:10 AM) Even the ZIP Code containing CITI Field is 53-25 Yankees. The ZIP Code containing O.co Coliseum is 59-18 Giants. At least the Sox are over 50% in their own ZIP code. Given that the fandom was based on Facebook likes, I don't feel like the Giants/Athletics stat is extremely surprising.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 10:13 PM) Am I the only one that thinks Cara Maria looks really good this season? I'm just surprised everyone is suddenly so friendly with her. They used to hate her. (Partly because she's bats*** crazy.)
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 11:04 PM) Arnie Munoz? The Expos just scored again
  18. Avalanche have 8 total shots with 5 minutes left to go in the game
  19. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 06:09 PM) Possibly better???? Reed had 40 saves last year on one of the worst teams in basball. Those 40 saves ranked him 7th overall in saves. You are dreaming if you expected Jones to be better. Jones , healthy might get 20 saves. I have no problem with the trade since the Sox needed to rebuild, but Reed will be very difficult to replace. Reed was 6th in baseball in save opportunities and finished 7th in saves, also 2nd in blown saves. How is that irreplaceable? If Jones were to receive 48 Save opportunities just like Reed did, how many saves does he get? I would imagine 40.
  20. I know I'm not a minor league guru, but I've never heard of him
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 24, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) He's not exactly helping the program by drawing attention to this incident more AND telling recruits the town they might play in is full of racists with 1960's views. Also f*** him for saying the whole town is racist. The town that followed/follows black athletes like him for decades and decades. He's and idiot and my opinion of him has changed for sure. So if you follow black athletes you can't be racist. Got it. I just don't see what the big deal is. He obviously hates Champaign so much that he let his son attend college there. A few parts of his experience he didn't enjoy, his son had a questionable incident, he is just speaking his mind a little bit. Plus, are you really trying to tell me that Champaign isn't racist at all? Not even a little bit?
