  1. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:45 AM) Viciedo is a bust? He still has time, but he also signed a $10 million deal. Abreu signed for $68 million, so expectations are much higher.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) McCann is a Braves fan from Georgia. the Sox would need to "up" the finances to woo him away. Except the Braves might not even want to keep him. They like what they have in Gattis and he's much cheaper. McCann won't take that big of a discount for his one big FA payday.
  3. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) Which Cuban players have really struggled though? The ones I can think of have been very good to league average. Are there some busts I'm missing? Cespedes had a down year at the plate. Viciedo has still not broken through. With the contract the Sox gave him, they are expecting him to be much better than league average. The guy has never played in the US before, so there is no guarantees.
  4. Given the struggles of some other Cuban players, I am a bit worried about how well he will play in the majors. But I absolutely love the move either way. Fact is, with the price/age of MLB free agents, the Sox lack of 1b prospects, and other team's unwillingness to give up young players, this was a risk that is necessary and worth the gamble. It's impossible to just find a 26-year old slugger and only have to pay him $10 million/year for a long contract. Look at the Tigers. They wanted a slugging 1b. Now they have a declining fatboy who can't get a postseason hit, and they still owe him $168 million.
  5. Not this s*** again.... being a good baseball player does NOT ensure a player will be a good coach.
  6. So I guess we can expect a PK14 retirement announcement soon?
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) I think having Alexei and Viciedo on the team had a lot to do with getting him. Hopefully, he turns out to be as good, if not better, than Cespedes and Puig. If Alexei and Viciedo mattered that much, the Sox would have offered only $40 million or so. It was all about the Benjamins.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:36 PM) Having Marshawn and the Seahawks d is the most frustrating thing ever tonight, getting td's taken away left and right. Just noticed that I am playing against the Seattle D, I have Marshawn. Nice 12 point swing earlier
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m Astros also are out on Abreu. Other reports indicate Red Sox out. One source suggested there could be last-right-of-refusal mystery team. There is always a mystery team.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:04 PM) It is worse. Mostly because of the look on Kronwalls face afterwards http://guyism.com/sports/cody-mcleod-knock...-dirty-hit.html Yowza. Just staring into space without a clue of who/what/where he is.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 08:52 PM) I blame the Dodgers' disrespect of the baseball gods. I blame the Braves for thinking they are the baseball gods.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 08:49 PM) I don't even want to post a link to Cody Mcleod's hit on Nik Kronwall it is so ugly Haven't seen that one yet, but the LaPierre hit on Boyle was not pretty. Jackman almost tried to do the same thing to Kaner.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 16, 2013 -> 08:01 AM) My brother went to the game and was honored at intermission as a combat veteran. He was super pumped up about it, they brought him down and gave them seats on the glass. He said it was pretty awesome to get a standing ovation from the crowd. The PR lady made him take off his blackhawks stuff when they honored them on the screen, lol. That's awesome stuff, good for your brother.
  14. And the Dodgers still had over 53k for each game, which is pretty good. Not sure what the official capacity. Besides, it's L.A.
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 03:03 PM) Yeah here is the tweet. Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN 1m Source say Astros are skeptical about their chances of signing Jose Abreu. Made a strong offer but all but certain they fell short. W. Sox? That makes me certain that the White Sox are NOT getting him. That's how it seems to work with this kind of stuff in the Twitter era.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) Case Keenum starting this week for the Texans. Not sure what that does for their fantasy players but it's note worthy. Chiefs D FTW again
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) It has been interesting to me that at least three playoff teams have had post-season games that didn't sell out. That would never happen in Chicago with either team. Atlanta has to be one. Who are the other two? Oakland? Tampa?
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 01:08 PM) To be fair, by that point it was pretty obvious the White Sox were collapsing. I stopped watching completely right around the end of August because I could see what was about to happen and didn't want to watch it. These were people that put in the effort to attend the game. If they weren't there to cheer the Sox on in a pennant race, then what were they there for? To get drunk? Sounds like another fanbase. My point being Sox fans have no room to talk in saying that Cubs fans only go to games and party and get drunk. Despite those people, Wrigley still gets louder in close moments for bad teams than the Cell did last year in a pennant race, collapsing team or not.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) Oh I was just throwing that data out there because I was curious myself and googled it. Ha, I gotcha. I had seen some of the international info recently and it blew my mind. Just looked it up again, the amount of McDonalds in some foreign countries is very surprising to me. 27 restaurants in Pakistan, I would never guess there was one. Over 1200 in France, over 3500 in Japan.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) Over 50% of their stores are in the US Page 17 of this report breaks down revenues by region, but the US is one region and all of Europe is another. http://www.aboutmcdonalds.com/content/dam/...ort%20Final.pdf I never said Americans eat less fast food. I just said that other countries eat it too, but if they included it in these pictures, it would take away the point they are trying to prove. Every McDonalds I have been to in Europe has been packed at all times.
  21. Germans have beer on their list, but no vodka for the Polish? I call bulls***. And McDonalds is in nearly every country in the world, yet only the Americans eat it? Come on.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:04 AM) Good god.. debating if I should start the two underachievers (Andre Johnson vs KC defense and Trent Richardson vs Denver defense) or start the two with better matchups.. (Terrance Williams vs Philly defense and Eddie Lacy vs Cleveland defense) I got L. Bell on the bench too. (Shady, Cruz and my flex Decker are automatic starters) Could use some advice. Lacy and AJ
