Needed just 8.5 from Powell and the Falcons D. Nope. This after I lost my college league by 0.2 points, because of the last minute dropped pass by the Washington tight end. -
Myers had cramping in both legs. Joyce replaces him in RF, Maddon gives up the DH, pitcher spot now fourth in the lineup

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) The Falcons are going to cost me my 10 game teaser bet, how can they be this s***ty after being so good last season. How can Matty Ice keep losing in the Georgia Dome? Gonna cost me money in my confidence pool.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 05:39 PM) Speaking of looking ahead too far, remember when Lou Pinella wanted to save Carlos Zambrano for game 4 in the 2007 NLDS and only let him throw 5 innings in game 1, only to never even make it to game 4? Every time that series is mentioned, the Ted Lilly gif must be posted.

Didn't D Rose teach you guys anything? Be careful with your expectations for Gronk. IF he comes back soon. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) Was that the longest slide of all time? Seriously, WTF was that? Looked like Willie Mays Hayes in that one early season scene.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) If you are asking generally, I have no idea, but he has always been a complete tool and loose cannon. Tigers have no right to complain, they had Papa Grande closing games for years. He was just as bad

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) Several of those games were pretty close and decided late; only 1 or 2 blowouts if I recall. For some reason, OSU v. Ill games tend to run closer than you'd expect. Don't see it this year, though. They definitely gave #1 OSU a scare in '02 & '06. I was at the 2002 game and it still kills me, they were so close to winning. But for some reason they can only seal the deal at the Horseshoe. -
Dodgers announce Kershaw will start tonight on 3 days rest. Dumb move if you ask me. Nolasco should be good enough to beat Sweaty Freddy. If you win tonight with Nolasco, you have your rotation set perfectly for the NLCS. And historically, the numbers don't favor pitchers going on short rest.

QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Tied after Peralta single. 3-3. Looks like a good move to play him in left field

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 12:18 PM) @mikecwright Nate Collins has a torn ACL. Out for season. f***. What's Tommie Harris up to these days? (Only half kidding)

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 5, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) OK, Notre Dame haters, I'm going to serve one up on a platter for you: One discussion board I belong to is a professional board for ND alums. I've been getting hammered on there for blaming the Republican House for the shutdown. I pointed out that my family was without 100% of our income and one of the irreversible effects is having to 'furlough' our babysitter during the shutdown. One response: "You're lying. If you need a babysitter then your wife is working and you aren't losing 100% of your income. If your wife isn't working then you don't need a babysitter." I'm guessing Soxtalk can outsmart the ND alum and figure out at least one circumstance where my wife is neither gainfully employed nor available to take care of the kids. She golfs a lot?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) Michigan is still probably the toughest since its the Game. Also OSU sucks donkey balls @ILL. OSU has won the last 9 games in Champaign. It's when they play in Columbus that Illinois steps up their game. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) In the NFL, don't count a win until you actually f***ing win. Unless Jacksonville is coming to town

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) No offense to an improving IU but Wisconsin at night back to back with @NW on primetime was the toughest stretch. Two ranked teams in primetime back to back. I was just referring to their upcoming schedule. If Holtz actually meant the entire season, then he's as dumb as he sounds. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 09:54 AM) Freddy Garcia is starting game 4 for the Braves. Freddy's a great big game pitcher, but isn't he almost 40 now? I think you are calling the STL/PIT series too early. I see that going to game 5.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 09:42 AM) Doesn't seem like that would be true, though I suppose IU has played them tough the past two years (52-49 loss last year, tied at halftime the year before when IU went 1-11). Look at OSU's schedule though. Other than Michigan, I'd say Holtz is right. They play Iowa, Penn State, @ Purdue, @ Illinois, Indiana, @ Michigan. -
Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson
LittleHurt05 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 08:29 AM) I wouldn't want Granderson for more than two guaranteed years, but I'll take him over De Aza any day of the week. De Aza is a 4th outfielder for an NL team. He can pinch hit, fill in for a regular on the DL, pinch run for slow guys. When you ask De Aza to start 150 games, he'll be part of the problem. Not part of the solution. Guys who can hit 15+ homers and steal 20+ bases aren't easy to come by, I don't know why everyone thinks De Aza has no value. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 07:19 AM) I wouldn't be at all surprised if TJ Yates starts at some point, and soon. I read a tweet from I forgot who this morning saying that the Texans management is high on Keenum as well. Schaub can't have much rope left. Didn't watch last night, but that pick 6 vs. Seattle should have sealed his fate. So bad.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Oct 6, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) So is there still the thought around here that the Colts aren't a playoff-caliber team? I called the Colts out. Then they skull f***ed the 49ers on the road. That's a playoff team.

It was probably the right call, but there was no indisputable evidence to overturn it with the camera views we saw. -
